Hi @GCS34, seeing any kind of blood is terrifying, isn't it? Yes, basically that is what happened to me. I would get in touch with your consultant and ask for an early scan to put your mind at rest. In my case he could see the source of the blood was a haematoma ("small area of bleeding") from implantation which was now coming out. He said the uterus contracts to get rid of blood that it considers to be a danger to the embryo.

My consultant said not to worry too much if it isn't a lot of blood because a miscarriage is usually heavier than a normal period but you'll worry until you've seen what's going on!

@girljulian thank you for replying and explaining. I know it’s not easy to talk about so thank you. You’re right. You’re told blood in pregnancy = ❌ but it seems that’s not the case and 1 in 3 pregnancies have bleeding! I spoke with my clinic and they said the haematoma was likely the cause. especially as I have now stopped bleeding.

they’ve prescribed me lubion progesterone injections to add in on top of everything else to boost my progesterone that can sometimes be the cause of it. Also I’m in on Monday for hcg bloods and then follow up hcg bloods weds to check they’ve increased, then my scan is a week on Thursday. Because I’m only 5+2 the scan wouldn’t show anything fully so we’re doing bloods.

@Doughnut89 thabks so so much for your reassurance on the blessing between 5-7 weeks. But so sorry you had it. It’s horrible isn’t it? How much was there? The bleeding has stopped now completely. As have the cramps so I’m hoping that it was blip. And has yours fully stopped and did it just fade out? It’s I say ts stopped now but I’m not counting my chickens. I Jusy feel foolish for getting excited when it’s all so fragile.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for all the good wishes. I don’t really know how to say this… but my test was positive!!!
I went back to it a little while later and I could see an extremely faint line. So I went out and bought every test, I then convinced myself it was an evaporation lines (lots of googling). This morning I did a digital and it was positive.
I just can’t believe it….such a rollercoaster!

Amazing news @ARM23! What a wonderful week this group has had:)

ARM23 · 15/10/2023 07:56

@Hopingforno2in2023 thank you! I'm going in for a blood test today. 🤞

kirstysmbc · 15/10/2023 08:08

@ARM23 This is amazing news, congratulations. Great that you are getting blood tests as well. What a great week on this board 😊

@ARM23 !!!!!!!! This is unreal!!! What a rollercoaster turn of events. Wow. Maybe the test you had was a cheap one or maybe defected! That’s such wonderful news. Have you got the do digital? I bought another and did it on Friday and our weeks went up on the test so that was super exciting! So so thrilled for you. Wow what a week. Think this has been the best roll of week results ever. 🤍🧡💜

so thrilled darling. Enjoy your day relaxing and celebrating. Will you tell people yet?

RE the bleeding - update and now totally fine, was a 4-5hour blip and everything back ti how it was and cramping Just back to uterus area not periody, and really insignificant.
In the clinic tomorrow for bloods and then again weds for follow up but yeah... What a rollercoaster indeed. Only sad thing is I no longer feel excited I now just feel really ‘meh’ about it as we’ve had a big scare And I’m just thinking I’m not really pregnant. The excitement has gone.😞😔 My husband is man flu-ing too so obviously the whole world has had to stop for that too which has added to a rather meh weekend 😂🙄

@ARM23 what amazing news!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!! You must be over the moon. What a good week this group is having.

@GCS34 I'm glad to hear the bleeding has stopped, but sorry to hear you are feeling down. Hopefully the bloods tomorrow will reassure you and you get that excited feeling back. Also, going up the number of weeks on the test is a really good sign. 🤞🏻

My test day is Tuesday but I have been having period type cramps since last night, so I assume I may end the happy news on this thread. Feeling sad already, but have a follow-up with the clinic on Wednesday.

Doughnut89 · 15/10/2023 13:58

@ARM23 huge congrats on your positive 🤗🤗🤗

@GCS34 that’s great your bleeding stopped so quickly. It’s apparently super normal and so many people do bleed but it’s so scary seeing it. And for me it’s how my previous miscarriage started. I had a fair amount of blood so it would be in the toilet bowl as well as on the paper and it would fill the paper and was very bright red. It lasted two weeks but then just seemed to stop. I had a scan with the EPU and they told me they could see the heartbeat and that really reassured me. But yea any blood can be a horrible sight

Hopingforno2in2023 · 16/10/2023 08:29

I’m glad your bleeding has stopped @GCS34 :)

So excited that I start this week! Never usually this excited for AF 😂

kirstysmbc · 16/10/2023 08:38

@Hopingforno2in2023 I know what you mean! I'm currently on cycle day 32 after my fresh cycle messed with everything, and cannot wait for AF to actually arrive (prob still not until the weekend). IVF is one long lesson in patience...

@GCS34 So glad the bleeding has stopped, it is so worrying to see it. I know everyone will be different, but with my two miscarriages, I had no bleeding at all, and then with my successful pregnancy I had a bit of spotting (weirdly when my first couple of periods would have been due). Hopefully the bloods will show some fab results and that will put your mind at ease a bit.

girljulian · 16/10/2023 12:38

Hey @GCS34 -- when are your bloods today? Thinking about you!

GCS34 · 16/10/2023 13:10

girljulian · 16/10/2023 12:38

Hey @GCS34 -- when are your bloods today? Thinking about you!

Hey @girljulian I've just had them but I don't get my results till the morning, and they're also kinda inapplicable without the 48hr ones on Weds apparently. Alone they don't tell you much apparently, it's only when it's done in conjunction with one 48 hours later to show the levels going up do you know that it's on the rise and going well, apaz! My friends a Midwife and she said the same, so I've had day 1 today, with results tomorrow, then my next are Wednesday, with my results on Thursday morning. And the range - WOW - wasn't expecting it to be that broad - I was shocked!! So I guess it's only really applicable when they are done with the ones 2 days after.

What were yours on each of yours?

@kirstysmbc @Hopingforno2in2023 @Doughnut89 Thanks so much for your kind messages. The sight of blood as you say, naturally is a big red flag, but I hope everything you guys and my consultant has reassured me about will be correct! 🤗Thanks for the info about your miscarriage's too - that's really kind of you to share that with me so honestly thank you. Do you mind me asking @Doughnut89, when you had a miss carriage, did you get any signs, or any bleeding at all, or was it completely nothing like @kirstysmbc? And did you both MC early?

Sorry I know they're hard questions so honestly don't feel you have to reply xx

Responding to @GCS34 questions about bloods / miscarriage, so apologies in advance if this is triggering to anyone. I couldn't figure out how to private message on the app.

My first miscarriage was a missed miscarriage, identified at a scan at 8 weeks. I ended up having surgical mgmt. My second I had a scan at 6.5 weeks and everything was way behind where it should be, and bloods were way too low, so I stopped all meds and then nature took its course.

As you say, there's a massive range in bloods, and the doubling time is more important, but the betabase website is really helpful. With my successful pregnancy, my hcg was 140 at 9dp5dt, and 450 at 11dpt. With my second miscarriage, they were 400 at 14dp5dt and 800 at 16dpt. 6 days later they were only 2000, This, along with the scan, was enough to know the pregnancy wasn't viable.

@kirstysmbc I'm so sorry to make you recount that. I'm sorry to anyone reading it too. Selfishly thought about myself there, not anyone else. And PS you can't send private messages in the App, only through the website - logical! 😅

Interesting that your HcG's were still very high, but I guess when you think 450 at 11dpt Vs 400 at 14dpt, it's actually considerably less. It's so hard as it's comparative as we say. But even with that in mind, your 400>800 was a clean double, so I imagine that was really hard as all the signs were good. Did you choose to have a 3rd test, or did they offer that? Today I am 19dpt so we'll see in the AM what they say. Then obviously 21dpt on Weds.

We shall see. I can't do anything about it regardless but my god the anxiety is beyond me. If I am honest, and I wonder if anyone else is the same, I found going to my clinic hugely triggering, and since leaving the anxiety has come over me like a blanket. I don't know why or what, but I can only assume it is the fact that going there is always an anxious reasoning, and I just found today quite hard.

@GCS34 No worries at all. Given how much lower the results were than in my successful pregnancy, I booked a third test, and then my clinic agreed to a scan.

www.betabase.info/chart/basic/single

This website shows the average levels at different days past ovulation (dp5dt + 5) and I could see that 400 was low. If you click on the dpo you can see the range and it wasn't looking good. I'm glad I did push because my clinic just wanted me to keep taking meds and wait for a scan at over 7 weeks, all the while I really felt something wasn't right.

The wait for results is so anxious, I hope you have something to take your mind off it. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🤞

@kirstysmbc Thanks darling - really appreciate you sharing when I know it's not easy at all. That makes sense on the 3rd test to clarify. Lets hope mine are high! Thanks for that site - I will definitely use that as a guide, but also see what my consultant says and speak to my friend who is a midwife. She gave me a chart this morning which was mental how different the ranges are!

Yeah it's not the most fun, but I guess I'll know a bit more tomorrow anyway as I'll be able to see what my base is and that should distinguish hopefully something positive!

How are you getting on?

I can't believe I'm writing this, but yesterday I got my first ever positive. Had my bloods done at the clinic and they said they were happy with my hCG which is good! More bloods tomorrow to see if it's going up.

I'm really happy but there's such a long way to go that I'm being cautious with it 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Thanks so much @GCS34 @Hopingforno2in2023 @kirstysmbc @girljulian 🩵

@GCS34 My hCG was 601 yesterday. The clinic said that because of all my cramping they will scan me as soon as my level reaches 1000, just to check it's in the right place. So could be having my first scan on Thursday. Have you got yours back yet?

@Hopingforno2in2023 yay for meds arriving! Remind me when you will be starting them again?

Hopingforno2in2023 · 17/10/2023 15:02

Fingers crossed for your bloods @GCS34 and @Jellyfish1956!

meds are here and include norethisterone which was I wasn’t expecting so have called clinic to check. I start when AF arrives which is currently predicted to be Saturday but could be anytime this week.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 17/10/2023 15:22

Good thing I rang the clinic ASAP! I was supposed to start the norethisterone yesterday! Thankfully I can start it today and it shouldn’t be an issue.
