@Hopingforno2in2023 I was just about to say that is usually taken to delay your period. I'm assuming they're giving it to you after they messed up your initial dates? How long do you have to take it for?

Hopingforno2in2023 · 17/10/2023 15:35

Until Sunday @kirstysmbc :)

Until Sunday @kirstysmbc :)

Fingers crossed it doesn't delay the rest of your cycle. From a selfish perspective, don't want to lose a transfer buddy!! Have you taken it before?

Fingers crossed for your bloods @GCS34 and @Jellyfish1956!

meds are here and include norethisterone which was I wasn’t expecting so have called clinic to check. I start when AF arrives which is currently predicted to be Saturday but could be anytime this week.

@Hopingforno2in2023 Woohoo that's great! Officially back on the IVF journey now. It feels like you're actually making progress when you're actively 'doing' something doesn't it? Definitely helps!

Thanks for your help @kirstysmbc with your bloods. Just had a call and they came back at 3,128 which they said is where they'd want them to be but obviously tomorrow's will determine the viability - fingers crossed!!

@Hopingforno2in2023 ot defo is and always feels nice to feel like you’re doing something! How’s the testogel? Still bouncing off the walls? Random and personal Q - do it improve your libido? 😂 clearly putting men into a horny AF box there!

@kirstysmbc And & @Hopingforno2in2023 what’s your timelineS of treatment > transfer? Are you both having EC / TF same time?

thanks for your help too @kirstysmbc. One more Q (promise it’s the last as I appreciate it’s probably quite triggering for you too so if you don’t want to answer please just say) but the MC bloods, was 450 at 14dpt actually 19dpo as it was a 5dt? If so that makes a lot more sense as last night I was racking my head getting myself in a tiz not understanding things 😂🙈 oh ivf - I won’t miss your anxiety inducing head fu*ks I swear 😅

I don’t think I am on it long enough to affect libido unfortunately @GCS34, from what I have read that tends to come after a few months but is a known side effect. I only have a week left on it sadly although coming off it means we are really moving forward to that is good. V nervous about norethisterone side effects!

My timeline is Testogel and norethisterone this week. AF and clomid next week and then Meriofert and Cetrotide week commencing 30th Oct. Egg collection should be either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday week commencing 6th November with transfer either 3,5 or 6 days after that.

kirstysmbc · 18/10/2023 08:32

@Hopingforno2in2023 I took norethisterone to stop my period when I went trekking a few years ago and didn't have any side effects. Fingers crossed you don't have any either.

@GCS34 I'm waiting for AF to arrive, then scan on day 1, start oestrogen and ganerelix on day 2, scan on day 12, transfer day 19 - 9 November if my cycle tracker app is correct.

And for my miscarriage, was 400 at 19dpo - which was already very low. Yours look really good 😊 Good luck for your second set of bloods today!

Hopingforno2in2023 · 18/10/2023 08:40

Ah that’s good news @kirstysmbc, I have heard about it making people really angry and the period afterwards being horrific. So as things stand I am likely to transfer a few days after you but not massively behind. For example if EC is on the 6th and we do a 3 day transfer then that would be the 10th so only one day behind you.

@Hopingforno2in2023 that's a shame 😅Could have enjoyed all the sex before your ovaries feel like they're going to explode and theirs no more rooms at the inn!

Wow so soon. that's great! And @kirstysmbc you are only a few days before that. So pleased you both are having your last shot together.

@kirstysmbc thanks for the info on the HcG - another thing to become out of control obsessive about huh? I hope you're right about the bloods. Naturally went crazy and worked out what each of yours would have been at 19dp5dt which was what mine were from Monday and seems i'm half way between the two, slightly on the lower side. Even though I know it is only relevant when comparing mine to mine, and 2 days apart, but you go crazy don't you? IVF is just a mind fu*k and makes you just weird.

OP posts:
kirstysmbc · 18/10/2023 22:32

@GCS34 It is so true, so easy to get really caught up in everything. Once they get that high, then the doubling times change as well, so it really isn't worth comparing. The best way to tell anything once they get to the low thousands is really a scan. I hope you get good results from today anyway. When is your scan again?

girljulian · 19/10/2023 19:38

Bad news for us today unfortunately. :( Should have been 8 weeks but at the scan, foetus had stopped growing. I need to stop the progesterone and wait to bleed. Ah well.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 19/10/2023 20:19

Oh @girljulian i am so so sorry Flowers

kirstysmbc · 19/10/2023 20:24

@girljulian oh darling I am so very sorry. This is heartbreaking and I can only imagine how you and your partner are feeling. Be kind to yourself and know that it’s not your fault. I hope you’re not in any pain and the sickness has let up at least. Come back when you’re ready but just be gentle, cry, laugh, cuddle, grieve - whatever you need (oh and wine). Sending love. Xxxx

@GCS34 Have you had your second blood tests back yet ? Fingers crossed for some great results

@Hopingforno2in2023 How are you coping with the norethisterone? Hope you're not having too many side effects!

@kirstysmbc yes I got them back. Went to 5,000 (from 3,100) so didn’t double in 48hrs which was a worry but it’s also a big jump and is in the 48-72hr banding so they said ideally we’d have wanted 6,000 but it’s definitely a positive it’s increased quite a lot! They said they don’t usually do HcG as it doesn’t tell you anything and it’s not something they as a clinic do as it doesn’t provide any insight other than it’s going up but still need a scan to know what is really going on, they said the fact I’ve not bled at all, and usual uterus cramps but not period pains, it’s gone up a good amount and is still in the 48-72hrs is a positive.

naturally worrying but I’m trying to not obsess.
even on the nhs and loads of websites like pampers, very well, parenting and everything, all day it’s not an exact and so long as it’s going up in considerable amounts then it’s fine. And from 6+ weeks it’s kinda pointless anyway as it doesn’t double then it’s just before aparrently.

Jellyfish1956 · 20/10/2023 13:21

Hi @GCS34, if it helps, my clinic stop testing hCG after it reaches 1000. They said that after that, the pattern changes, and it doesn't double every 48 hours anymore. Like you said the main tool to see what's going on is a scan. Have you got a date for yours?
Also are you having uterus cramps too? I had some intense ones last night and it really made me panic.

How are you getting on @21C ?

kirstysmbc · 20/10/2023 14:21

@GCS34 Yeah, a lot of places don't test once the levels are that high for exactly that reason! But that all looks good to me!

I put your numbers into a doubling calculator that I used before and they are literally on the average line! www.babymed.com/tools/hcg-calculator

Hopefully it's not too long a wait for the scan now.

@kirstysmbc that’s a great nifty website isn’t it! I love that and it makes me feel normal. Altho ‘slightly below normal’ apparently 😅 whatever that means. And I like that it says between 1,200 and 6,000 it’s more like every 3-4 days so yeah. I really do feel relieved. And speaking with the nurses and since reading I feel SO much better - and thank you for sharing this too!

scan is on Thursday. 🤞🤞🤞

@Jellyfish1956 thats really reassuring from your clinic. Thank you for that too! Honestly sometimes these forums are great for help and support like you girls, then others you read say ‘if it’s not doubling it’s a failing pregnancy’ even tho I’m now 6 weeks and it’s less applicable, and everyone fixated on it being 48hrs when it’s actually 48-72hrs and as you say, irrelevant where we are now. Let’s just hope for the best hey!

symptoms aren’t too bad at all. No boob pains, no sickness Just the uterus cramping as you say! It’s like … pin pricks almost and like a bit groin twinges and pulling sensations. Not period pain area more groin / knicker line, and sometimes deep inside. And feels like the odd shooting pain. Are you same? Have you got sore boobs or anything?

@ARM23 and @21C how are you guys doing?

@girljulian I am so incredibly sorry to read this. I’m devastated for you, can’t even imagine how you feel. Be kind to yourself as the other girls have said, do whatever you need to do to get through these next few days. Sending you so much love and strength.

@ARM23 congratulations to you!! I’ve just came back into this forum and seen your news. Delighted for you.

@GCS34@Jellyfish1956 at risk of sounding like a mad woman here but after the positive test on Thursday and blood test at clinic confirming HCG levels were perfect for that time I had a lovely of couple of days of excitement but slowly turned into obsessive worry of reaching scan and not seeing anything or things not being right. I know I can’t live life like this and I am SO early I will literally drive myself mad if I don’t change mindset. I also have absolutely nothing to base this off of - no bad pain etc just utterly overthinking. I’m 5 weeks 2 days today and the clinic have booked me in for a scan at 8 weeks but I’ve decided to book a private scan at 6 weeks which is next Wednesday to hopefully give myself some sort of peace of mind.
i hope this isn’t insensitive to anyone, I know people are going through worse things I just wanted to sort of explain why I fell off the face of the planet!

hope you’re all doing ok x

Jellyfish1956 · 20/10/2023 19:07

Thanks so much for sharing the website @kirstysmbc very handy!

@GCS34 I'm pretty much the same! Don't really have sore boobs and don't feel sick. I have the pulling feelings too but I have been having some strange feelings on the left side. So the clinic are scanning me tomorrow to check everything is in the right place 🤞🏻 it's super early for a scan but I'd rather know if it's an ectopic or not.

I totally understand how you feel @21C
It's hard not to let your mind wonder to the scary 'what if's'. Good thinking with the early scan. You have to do what ever makes you feel the most comfortable.

How's the norethisterone going @Hopingforno2in2023 ?

girljulian · 22/10/2023 23:06

Thank you, it’s just really annoying me at this point because my HCG was so high and clearly is still so high! I did a pregnancy test today — still a dye stealer. Made me laugh a bit that I thought earlier you could just keep doing pregnancy tests to make sure you were still pregnant. Literally couldn’t be darker than it was today. And I still feel sick and I haven’t bled. Come on, body, the damn thing is dead! I wish it would just expel it!
