Hi all. Struggling to focus on work today so procrastinating here instead!

@ASGIRC chips and basically anything beige is SO appealing to me at the moment 😂however still enjoying fruit so I'm trying to eat lots of that to balance it a little. I keep reminding myself the supplements will be doing their job too so not too worried about diet at the moment.

@10degreessunny I think we are hardwired to worry about everything at this stage sadly! I am sure the pain was nothing too worry about though. I've had all sorta of strange sensations and also keep convincing myself about ectopic etc.

@SH998 I would definitely check with the clinic, I think a lot of them tend to keep you on until 12weeks regardless of fresh or frozen? I asked this to our consultant last week (review following OHSS) and he said I will stay on it until 16 weeks (he also didn't bat an eyelid when I said how high my progesterone was!). We are also NHS patients and I had a fresh transfer. I think as @wtawtaw says there is mixed info and views about the value of progesterone after implantation but I am also a bit like you in that I'd probably rather have it 'just in case'.

On a similar note, I was told I can stop the inhixa/clexane (enoxaparin) in a few weeks - I wasn't on it from the start but after being in hospital, the consultant there recommended until 12 weeks..does anyone know much about the value of continuing it? Just wondering if I should push a bit more.

ASGIRC · 16/08/2023 14:16

@Walker12 Ive enjoyed the fruit juice boxes! So will carry on with those.
Yesterday I managed to have a burger and chips, which was also great.
Today I am struggling with what to eat, again. I dont actually want to eat ANYTHING. Not even chips... but I am starving!
Ive already lost 1+kg.. Which doesnt worry me at all, I have a lot of weight I can stand to lose, but I just hate being hungry and not being able to wat anything!!
And I cant afford fast food every day for however long this lasts! LOL

@SH998 I dont think there is any evidence, either way, on the usage of progesterone. I mean, obviously, if you have a deficiency, you should supplement, but clinics put you on it regardless of your actual levels, at dosages that are completely random, for periods of time that also dont have much weight.
So im sure if you ask your clinic to stay on it, they wont say no, as there is no downside to it, I dont think!

Walker12 · 16/08/2023 14:19

@ASGIRC my go to at the moment is crackers and anything Salty! Is cheese appealing to you at all? I keep trying to have cheese and apple which feels moderately nutritious. However it really doesn't matter at this stage, baby will just take what it needs :) just annoying for you to be hungry but nothing appeals!

ASGIRC · 16/08/2023 14:26

@Walker12 god no, cheese is the worst, at the moment! I love cheese and usually eat loads, and always have a stash of babybels for an easy snack. Nothing seems grosser at the moment! And when I do force myself to eat them, I feel a bit sick.
Maybe if it was better cheese, with tasty bread... I do have some garlic and herbs philadelphia in the fridge, maybe Ill try that. The babybels are just too dense right now.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 16/08/2023 14:36

@ASGIRC not wanting to eat but being hungry is horrible. Im spending half my time like that and the other half just wanting to eat Bugels, bananas and the cheap crappy croissants from co op.

Ive also had a persistent headache for the last two days straight that is driving me to distraction. Currently ‘working’ in the dark in my bedroom with my laptop on the lowest brightness setting possible.

Cant wait for Friday when I can check on the bean and make sure that all is ok and that these symptoms are still worthwhile!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 16/08/2023 14:37

It’s a bit of a mindfuck, as I’m so grateful to be pregnant, but I hate feeling so awful all the time!!

ASGIRC · 16/08/2023 14:51

@IVFfirsttimer91 Its the worst. Im so hungry that literally everything should be making me jump at it like "YES I want to eat that!!!" but no...
At best Im like "well, the thought of eating that doesnt fill me with dread, so maybe Ill try it!"
Its no way to live!!! LOL
Gonna pop some chips in the air fryer and hope for the best!

Walker12 · 16/08/2023 15:04

Enjoy the chips @ASGIRC!!
@IVFfirsttimer91 you have just given me a craving for bugels crisps 😂 will be sending my partner via the shop on his way home..

ASGIRC · 16/08/2023 15:34

@Walker12 I decided to throw in some mozzarela sticks as well... and that was a mistake...

IVFfirsttimer91 · 16/08/2023 15:38

Bugels are the way forward. I’ve eaten half a packet today. And a banana 😂 nothing else. I’ve even gone off of coffee which is really sad. I’m contemplating chucking some chips in the air fryer now too, but I’m just really not feeling it 😑

Olivia199 · 16/08/2023 16:45

I'm with you all on the food misery.
I spoke to the GP today because despite antisickness tablets, I'm still throwing up quite a lot. They've signed me off work with hyperemesis and prescribed a second medication for me. But I desperately just need to get through Friday.

So hopefully the new medication works. They've told me not to worry about food and just focus on keeping fluids in, else I'll end up needing IV.

On the good news front, my midwife just called and it was the same one who visited me last time after my DD was born. She's absolutely lovely and remembered me. Booked in for 30th for my booking appt.

@ASGIRC see, mozzarella sticks really appeal to me right now.. I'm just craving everything today!
@IVFfirsttimer91 I have had intermittent periods of going off coffee, but I think I'm so addicted I just drink it anyway.
@Olivia199 you poor thing, I really hope the new medication works for you! I can only imagine how horrible it is.. feel grateful for my occasional bouts of mild nausea now. Lovely news about the midwife though!
This makes me think, do we have to tell our GP about the pregnancy or do the IVF clinic do that when they discharge us? I think I am still so cautious about letting myself believe its happening so really not thought about anything like that

ASGIRC · 16/08/2023 17:57

@Olivia199 Oh thats awful! hope the new medication works! Can you stomach fruit juice? Its been my life saviour the past couple of days.

@Walker12 hahah craving all the things is definitely a better problem to have, from my perspective! Enjoy it!!

@IVFfirsttimer91 I only had some chips and 3 sticks... And some fruit juice.
Im getting hungry again. But nothing appeals...

IVFfirsttimer91 · 16/08/2023 18:39

Poor DP, the plan was to have sausages, baked potato and salad for dinner tonight. I don’t want any of it, and am unreasonably cross that we can’t have chicken burgers and potato salad instead as it’s a ‘waste of food’. Never been angry over dinner before!

Olivia199 · 16/08/2023 18:49

@Walker12 - With my GP you let them know and then the midwife contacts you. Previously I had to self refer to midwife online. So it's different everywhere!

Thank you, hopefully things settle.

Olivia199 · 16/08/2023 18:50

@ASGIRC - Orange Juice and lemonade ICE cold goes down a charm. Acidic as hell coming up, but it's the only thing I fancy!

OP posts:
Olivia199 · 16/08/2023 18:51

@IVFfirsttimer91 - Oh absolutely not, you're allowed whatever you desire for dinner! I found the desire for very particular things went away into 2nd tri and I ended up just wanting anything and everything. So during the first trimester it's all about what you fancy.

Just want to get to next Thursday now so I can see that little bean and know it's all okay and this is all worth it.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 16/08/2023 19:00

@Olivia199 will this be your first scan?

sorry that you are feeling so sick. I completely relate to wanting to know if feeling like this is for just reason hah. Fortunately only got 1.5 days to go until my scan now.

ASGIRC · 16/08/2023 19:08

@Olivia199 at least thats both hydrating and nutritious!

@IVFfirsttimer91 I completely understand how youre feeling.
I have no idea what ill have for dinner... Dont want a single thing!
Might just have some juice, and go to bed early. I do have work early tomorrow.
Zero idea how Im gonna deal with the food situation at work tomorrow, seeing how Im off all of the snacks I have...

Olivia199 · 16/08/2023 19:31

@IVFfirsttimer91 - Yes first scan a week tomorrow. Just so desperate to see that little bean, happy as a clam in there. I'm getting nervous for it but also taking some solace in the sickness.
But you just never know!

OP posts:
Olivia199 · 16/08/2023 19:33

@IVFfirsttimer91 - Exciting that it is nearly scan day!!

@ASGIRC - Isn't your scan tomorrow too?

I'm a firm believer in just eating whatever it is you come across that doesn't sound awful. Whatever that may be!
Take EVERYTHING to work so you have a choice!

The GP suggested just clear fluids for me until the sickness is under control and assured me that the baby will be absolutely fine and happily take everything and anything it needs from me, so not to worry at all about what I eat or don't eat.

OP posts:
Olivia199 · 16/08/2023 19:34

@SH998 - I felt so so so anxious about stopping progesterone at 10 weeks last time, but everything of course was fine. Its actually the placenta that takes over production so shouldn't really be relevant that your progesterone was low in your cycle. I'd discuss with them as I've seen it happen that they're happy to prescribe more if you're really uncomfortable with it.

OP posts:
ASGIRC · 16/08/2023 19:47

@Olivia199 my scan IS tomorrow! 6pm! So have a full day of work to get through first!

I will be taking some things to work, and then well see what i end up actually eating.

I went to the beach with a friend, and was telling her about my lack of appetite and she was like "well, you know you have to eat bla bla bla baby baby" and honestly, it just pissed me off soooo much. Im having food aversion. So no, I dont have to eat. No one will starve. I will eat what I can, and I dont need people telling me what I should and should not do!!!

Why does this happen? And everything, while coming from nice places, just feels so patronising! And stop asking me if Im taking my supplements! I did IVF. Im on more medication than anyone who just got pregnant has ever been on!

Sorry for the rant. LOL Guess its been bubbling under the surface LOL

Olivia199 · 16/08/2023 19:54

@ASGIRC - I totally get that. I'm trying hard to appreciate that people suggesting ginger is coming from a good place. But yes. Obviously I've tried freaking ginger. And literally everything else.

It only gets worse!!

OP posts:
ASGIRC · 16/08/2023 19:58

@Olivia199 oh, I can imagine it does. And everyone is an expert!

Im already dreading the bump touch... And how to politely tell people to NOT TOUCH ME!
