Had my scan and all looking good, baby was moving around like mad, managed to get a video of it moving around and then it ended io turning its back on us, obviously camera shy 😅 so bloody cute though 🥲 it's magical 💛. It's measuring two days ahead at 10+3/36.7mm.

Also just had my 12 week scan appointment which is for 12 days time, I will only be 11+6! Too early?! Also did I read that some of your got told to wait 2 weeks between scans? Wondering if I should delay it or not.

Sorry to hear you are feeling anxious @Charming81 & @Walker12, I also find symptoms come and go, some days are worse than others for sure, I think it's normal though with hormones fluctuating. Have any of you got more scans coming up soon?

Walker12 · 31/08/2023 14:25

That's lovely news @wtawtaw, it makes me so happy to hear of positive scans. Sounds like you have a very strong little bean!

I don't think 11.6 is too early really, it's only 1 day ahead and I think they tend to do them between 11-13 weeks. I would embrace the fact that you get to see your little one again a bit sooner!

Thank you for the reassurance, I do keep reminding myself that they should fluctuate and the placenta might be growing around this time (I am 8w2d). I have a scan on Tues when I will be 9w and I wonder if that's partly why my anxiety has peaked again as the scans getting closer always come with the "what if" worry don't they! Going to try to keep busy and distracted over the next few days.

Charming81 · 31/08/2023 15:07

@wtawtaw happy that your scan went well. What a relief, isn't it?

I still have to wait for my next scan, it will be 16th September. It seems so far away! Glad it is almost weekend

ASGIRC · 31/08/2023 15:27

@Walker12 yeah, my anxiety ramped up the closed I got to this scan (I am 8+6)
Will be heading to the clinic shortly!

@wtawtaw amazing news!!! And 11+6 is not too early at all. The 12 week scan has to be done between 11 and 14, so youre bang on time!

Thought I was doing really well with the nausea today, as I hadnt had any. But as soon as I left work, it hit me like a ton of bricks! Fortunately it was short lived.
I had bought some dehydrated ginger thingies, thinking theyd probably be quite good and help, but it was even worse, as they are gummy texture (which I cant stand) and didnt taste of ginger at all, and was spicy as all hell!!!

However, last night I was daydreaming of a take on a greek salad, with pasta, and today I bought the ingredients to do it, so Im hoping I will enjoy it, as I seem to have gone off my tuna mayos and ham and cheese brioches!

SH998 · 31/08/2023 16:54

@wtawtaw lovely to hear all went well with your scan, you can relax a little again now.

@Charming81 symptoms come and go quite drastically. I had terrible nausea Sunday but held off being sick but the next day and all week this week the symptoms all disappeared, I felt completely normal and not pregnant at all. Come today I feel terrible again, I’m actually lying in bed as we speak trying not to be sick. Im sure you have nothing to worry about.

ASGIRC · 31/08/2023 16:57

Scan went fine! First external scan!!
Didn't see the bean moving that much, as the image wasn't great (doctor had to apply a lot of pressure to get the image), but heartbeat was good and it is now 2cm!

I feel like I can relax now! (until the anxiety resurfaces, that is!)

wtawtaw · 31/08/2023 17:23

@ASGIRC great news!! The relief after a good scan is mad isn't it. I was the same in terms of external - they couldn't get a good pic so switched to internal!! Are things with you dad any better?

You're all right, 11+6 isn't bad for a 12 week scan, I think it's just because it has an 11 in it it seems early. All psychological 🙃

I find my symptoms are much better when I'm out and about instead of at home when I tend to feel sorry for myself! Sometimes when I'm out I feel so normal i forget I'm pregnant!

ASGIRC · 31/08/2023 17:34

@wtawtaw the image was good enough for her to get measurements and stuff, just not photogenic, if that makes sense. It was all very blurry, with a blob at the bottom!😂

I havent actually spoken with my dad since the dinner party 2 weeks ago, which is not unusual! I was also waiting for the scan before calling him. You know how it is, when you know you will have news of some kind, so you just avoid talking to people before you have them, in case anything changes (and also so you have more to say!)

My symptoms are definitely worse when Im out and about, particularly in the heat. Nausea hits like a MF, I have to carry iced water at all times now, as it helps me.

I am soooo hungry as well... but too afraid to eat, cause it might make me feel sick... Not fun at all! I need this to stop imediately!! LOL

Walker12 · 31/08/2023 19:06

Ah so glad it went well @ASGIRC! Lovely little blob ☺️ hope you enjoy your Greek pasta salad tonight!
I am definitely avoiding people at the moment as my scan approaches for the exact same reason, have actually made things up to avoid seeing people!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 31/08/2023 19:14

Glad both your scans went well today @ASGIRC & @wtawtaw!

Hope everyone is doing ok today :)

ASGIRC · 31/08/2023 20:02

@Walker12 Salad was better in my head, but Im sure it will be nicer tomorrow, when its all cold (I was hungry, so just cooled the pasta under the tap, and the onions and dressing were also not cold!
But it was nice enough, it filled a spot and I think I can eat it again, so winning!

And I know exactly what you mean with avoiding people! I almost didnt go to lunch with my aunt on Tuesday for that reason, which is ridiculous!!

And Ive also told my lodger now (should have told her 2 weeks ago, really, but then didnt, and then decided to wait until the next scan!). Shes already been saving money to move out, bless her! (Shes known from the beginning that this would happen, but she wasnt aware I was already pregnant, she thought I was still trying)
We had a couple of beers at the local (mine were 0.0%), which caused some questions from the neighbours, but none of them actually asked if I was pregnant. Only if I was ill! LOL

wtawtaw · 31/08/2023 20:07

Ahh @ASGIRC I hope he comes to his senses and turns this around! Such an exciting time for you and he should be embracing it.
I feel for you in the heat! Must be awful when the nausea is around, hope you're living with air con?! The ice cold stuff must be a pregnant thing, I absolutely hate ice cold drinks and cold food normally but that's all I've been wanting! Weird!!

wtawtaw · 31/08/2023 20:09

@Walker12 100% understand what you mean with the scan looming and the anxiety, this week I've been a mess this week before today thinking it's all gone wrong and thinking I'd get bad news at the scan, I think we feel that way as it's a way of protecting ourselves! Almost like we prepare ourselves in advance.
Not long until Tuesday though 💛

ASGIRC · 31/08/2023 20:12

@wtawtaw Oh, Im sure hes fine! We dont talk too often, usually. Once a week or every 2 weeks is about normal. Ill call him tomorrow!

Ha! It is a common misconception that warm countries like Portugal and Spain have air con! I mean, new builds do, but older flats definitely dont, which is my case (60s flat). I could have installed aircon when I bought it and refurbed it, but I didnt budget it in, so didnt...

My work though, is SOO COLD I actually have to take jumpers and cardigans in, otherwise Ill freeze to death!

I do like cold drinks, but its definitely ramped up now!

Walker12 · 31/08/2023 21:27

@ASGIRC the thought of cold pasta is turning my stomach (no offence whatsoever) so maybe I do still have some symptoms after all 😂 So nice thay you can plan for your lodger moving out, and baby moving in!

@wtawtaw thank you, its such a horrible feeling of dread isn't it. Really grateful to have you ladies for support!

ASGIRC · 31/08/2023 21:31

@Walker12 symptoms may be dormant, but they are still there!!!

Haha yes! The future nursery is currently used as her home office (and dumping ground of most things, obvs). And Ill then need her room to store things like suitcases!

Sangels267 · 31/08/2023 22:06

Very happy that your scans went well @ASGIRC and @wtawtaw 🙂

I feel completely normal today and not pregnant at all but trying to not panic 😅

Charming81 · 01/09/2023 10:24

@ASGIRC so happy that your scan went well!

Everytime one of you has a scan and it goes well, I feel happy like it was my own scan. I don't know why, but it gives me positivity. I know it, obviously, doesn't mean that mine will go well too, but it makes me happy ❤️❤️❤️

I have booked another scan for next Sunday 10w2d 🙈🙈🙈 But I have moved my harmony test to 12w instead of 11 so that they will be able to do the NT scan as well.

So I am having a scan avery 2 weeks. I know it might sound insane, my I really struggle to wait longer 🙄

ASGIRC · 01/09/2023 10:32

@Charming81 Honestly, Id book another scan if I could.

but in Portugal you cant just book private scans at will. You need to have a prescription for it, unless your doctor does them, but thats only for private doctors, and I plan on being seen by the NHS (portugal NHS) doctors.

As it stands, my next scan will the the 12 week one, in just over 3 weeks. Though that might change, as my clinic doctor recommended some specialists for the 12 week scan, so Im trying to book with one of those!

Walker12 · 01/09/2023 17:52

@Charming81 I totally agree about the positive scan news being lovely to read, keeps me hopeful! I don't blame you at all for booking another scan, Depending when my 12w scan actually gets booked for I may be booking another one after Tues! My poor bank account recently..
@ASGIRC at least 3 weeks isn't too long- although time goes so slowly when waiting doesn't it. My 7 week scan feels like it was a month ago but I was only 10 days 😂

ASGIRC · 01/09/2023 18:00

@Walker12 There is soooo much waiting involved!!
I mean, usually, time goes by in a flash, but obviously it is dragging now!

Today has been a good day of very few/no symptoms! Hopefully more of these will happen now, as the placenta starts forming and taking over!
I just need to think of more things I want to eat! Salads are all I fancy currently, but I fear I will get sick of them soon (and quite literally as well!)

IVFfirsttimer91 · 04/09/2023 08:36

Heya!! How is everyone doing?

wtawtaw · 04/09/2023 11:03

Hey @IVFfirsttimer91 all good my side thank you. Still feel sick and food aversions are still super strong 🤢I'm 11 weeks on Weds.

How are you? Have your symptoms eased now? I know you're a week ahead of me exactly so must be your 12 week milestone this week!!? When is your 12 week scan booked for?

IVFfirsttimer91 · 04/09/2023 11:54

Heya @wtawtaw :)

I’m doing well thanks! My nausea seems to have eased overall quite a bit - although I’m feeling pretty unwell today. I’m sorry to hear about your nausea and food aversions! Hopefully this is the week that they start to abate for you!!

Yes I’m 12 weeks on Wednesday! Feeling very excited, and also very happy to start coming off of all the medication! My 12 week scan is booked for the 11th September, I can’t wait to see the baby. I’ve not had any worrying symptoms so I’m hoping all is going to be ok and that we see a healthy little person in there.

When is yours?

wtawtaw · 04/09/2023 11:58

@IVFfirsttimer91 boo to feeling unwell today! What's up, preggo symptoms or illness?
That's so exciting!!! 1 week countdown!!
Mine is a day after yours so the 12th Sept 😬 I'm super excited but no doubt nearer the time I'll be full of fear as always before a scan!

Random question but will you be getting the flu jab? (Be good to hear if everyone is or isn't too). I have mixed views on whether to or not.
