@wtawtaw my scan is 2.30 so only 2 hours to go till I leave. I do the pessaries anally so I don’t think it’s them, but we will see I guess at 2.30 xxx

IVFfirsttimer91 · 25/08/2023 15:07

All is fine, no signs of any problems at all. Saw baby moving and it actually has a little face now too. I asked the sonographer if he would make a guess at gender as it stands and he is pretty convinced we are going to have a little girl. Which is what I think we are having. Brain looks like it’s developing well as well, and saw little arms and legs and the head looks face shaped now too. So relieved. He checked for any sources of bleeding and couldn’t see any which was great. My first ever non transvaginal scan! Much more dignified 😂

wtawtaw · 25/08/2023 15:21

@IVFfirsttimer91 yay great news! At least you can relax now! That's cute, what grade was your embryo? As I think that says a lot about gender too!

wtawtaw · 25/08/2023 15:22

P.s did they give you any indication of why you might be spotting?

Walker12 · 25/08/2023 15:34

@IVFfirsttimer91 so glad all is well! And how lovely that you got to see more features. I hadn't even thought it would be an abdominal scan, we are all so conditioned now to have people poking around down there!

My only update is I have my booking appt with the midwife arranged and have to have some bloods next week. Have also caved and booked a private scan for 9wks.

Slightly strange new symptom for me- Is anyone else having tailbone pain/discomfort? Struggling to sit down for long periods, which I sort of need to do for my job!!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 25/08/2023 15:37

@wtawtaw this one was a 4AB, I haven’t looked up what that might mean re gender but I think I will now!! And no, no indication as to why I’m spotting but he did check for bleeding and couldn’t see anything so I’m feeling reassured.

@Walker12 i wasn’t expecting an abdominal scan either, so I didn’t show up with a full bladder!! I 100% thought I’d get poked and prodded up the vagina and was very happy when I found out I wouldn’t be.

My partner didn’t come with me because we had his parents here and it was tight between me getting back and them leaving to go to Victoria coach station, but he was very excited to hear that he might be getting a daughter.

im just so relieved to be honest xx

wtawtaw · 25/08/2023 15:41

@IVFfirsttimer91 oooo yes, 4's are the slower growing ones and girls are slower. I think it's the 5's that tend to be boys as they grow faster than girls. Could be jibberish though!! Exciting times x

SH998 · 25/08/2023 15:47

@IVFfirsttimer91 that's lovely news, so glad all is fine. Massive relief for you. Congrats on your possible baby girl 😃

IVFfirsttimer91 · 25/08/2023 15:58

Thanks so much @wtawtaw & @SH998 it is a huge releif and was so so nice to see her wiggling away.

Im feeling exhausted as well as it’s been a busy couple of days, so I’m going to take a nap. My partner won’t be back for a couple of hours so I’ll chill a bit then start sorting the house out. Hope everyone is having a nice day!

There are actual studies about it!
I dont know the percentages of 4s, but 5s are 80% more likely to produce boys, and 3s are 70% more likely to produce girls (these are live birth stats).

beehappy19 · 25/08/2023 18:22

All of my embryos were 5’s.. I wonder if I’ve got a freezer full of boys then 😂 I’ll be curious to know if this one is a boy as my husbands family is all girls and we already have 1 daughter.

wtawtaw · 25/08/2023 19:37

Oooh interesting! Is your daughter through IVF and if so was she a 5 too?
I've got a mix of 4 and 5's, I don't know if they transfer the 5s first?!

ASGIRC · 25/08/2023 19:41

Theres still 20% of chance of a 5 being a girl!!! So it isnt a foregone conclusion! LOL

@wtawtaw I think they do, as they are a better grading (and are closer to hatching). But Im also sure that can be discussed with your clinic!

beehappy19 · 25/08/2023 19:43

@wtawtaw no she wasn’t ivf. I was lucky to fall pregnant on clomid with her.

I do find it all so interesting though regarding gradings and gender.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 26/08/2023 10:57

@Walker12 it could be the start of lower back pain which I’m getting as well, I just have to get up and move around a bit then sit back down. Sorry you’re getting pain, but yay for 9 week scan! Hopefully you will see baby moving about! It’s really cute

ASGIRC · 26/08/2023 14:38

This week at work is absolutely killing me...

Im doing 4pm-1am shifts, 6 in a row (Tuesday to Sunday), after only 1 day off (which I spent by the pool!). And OMG I am sooo sleepy!

Im sleeping 8/9h a night, which is great (I start waking up at about 8am, but manage to sleep another hour or 2 afterwards), but by the time I have to go to work Im ready for a nap.
By midnight I feel like a complete zombie!!!

I dont feel tired, though. Just sleepy.

My food aversion has eased a bit, but Im still very limited in what I can eat. And definitely no cooking for me!

Hows everyone doing today?

Walker12 · 26/08/2023 16:07

@IVFfirsttimer91 thank you, its definitely a lot better today when I'm not having to sit down so much! Yes I'm really excited for the next scan (and of course also terrified still!)

Those work hours sound rough @ASGIRC, I think about 4/5pm is when I start to really crash! I've had a lovely nap today. Definitely just try to rest when you can and make the most of your days off, sleep as much as you need to!

Looking at planning a holiday today, as we haven't had one this year and feel like we both really need it! It's a nice focus. Going to check with the midwife but I assume flying is OK? Think we will try to plan something for just after 12 weeks..

ASGIRC · 26/08/2023 16:14

@Walker12 the 4-1 shift is only rough cause it's the most full on at work, and it's the one where you can't ever leave early!

I'm not a morning person, so I don't usually mind it too much, but man, it's been hard!

I so need a holiday! Unfortunately, I only started this job 3 months ago, and you can't take any annual leave for the first 6 months of a new job, and also, all my coworkers have booked theirs, so there's also no available slots!! Gonna take NY and the 1st week of Jan, and go to London for a few days!

Flying is fine unless there's a problem. And after 26ish weeks you need to have a note saying you're fit to fly, as some airlines might not let you board otherwise.
But yeah, it's fine!!

Sangels267 · 26/08/2023 17:47

@ASGIRC I know what you mean about being sleepy but not tired. I just woke up from a nap, I wasn't tired but I was so sleepy 🤦🏻‍♀️
My food aversion is not better at all, I'm not managing to eat any meat 😕

Sangels267 · 26/08/2023 17:48

@Walker12 a holiday sounds fantastic. We are planning to go on holidays in September. I will be 11 weeks but turning 12 weeks while I'm over there 😉

ASGIRC · 26/08/2023 18:09

@Sangels267 what are you able to eat?
I'm mostly surviving on hotdog buns with tuna mayo, and brioche rolls with ham and cheese.
And McDonald's.
Yesterday I had a lovely steak with mustard sauce and chips for lunch, but was then a bit nauseated for the rest of the day 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I know the UK hasn't exactly been warm this summer, but are you struggling with walking outside when it's warm? My blood pressure seems to tank when I do it... I can't leave the house without an ice cold drink, to perk me up, otherwise I feel like I might faint... It's very annoying...

And the non stop burping is doing my head in!!! 😂😂

Walker12 · 26/08/2023 19:46

Thanks both I did assume it would be fine but second guessing everything at the moment. Glad you are also planning a break @Sangels267!

@ASGIRC hopefully the fatigue eases up a bit in the 2nd trimester (maybe wishful thinking!!) so work isn't as rough. I've been so unproductive in my job the last few weeks, just very glad I have a good manager. It's not been very warm in the north of England but I'm just generally tired after short walks, and walking so so slowly which is unlike me 😂 also making sure I have a drink and snacks everywhere I go!!

wtawtaw · 26/08/2023 20:14

Good to hear everyone is planning holidays 😁 my food aversion still is crap too, also gone off meat @Sangels267 but also can't stand vegetables at the moment either, not ideal 🙃. Loving beige food but houmous and crackers and haribo is my fave at the mo. Nausea has eased off a bit but I think that's because I make sure to eat a digestive biscuit or two as soon as I get up which stops it coming and I make sure I snack throughout the day. Only took me 3 weeks to realise what I needed to do! Nausea comes on full force if I let myself get hungry.

I also had a nap today, can't sit on the sofa without falling asleep now!

When is your scan @Walker12?

If I've remembered right, I think someone has a scan tomorrow, maybe @beehappy19?

Not long for ours @ASGIRC 😬

beehappy19 · 26/08/2023 20:19

@wtawtaw mine was yesterday and I didn’t update but everything was fine and we saw the little heart beating away. I was extremely nervous beforehand as I have zero symptoms other than tiredness which I always wondered if it was the progesterone causing me to be tired. I don’t feel nauseous or have any food aversions at all so I was expecting bad news. It just goes to show no symptoms doesn’t mean anything’s wrong.
When is your next scan and how far along will you be?

wtawtaw · 26/08/2023 20:22

Ah sorry @beehappy19 but that is lovely news 💛 was that your 7 week viability scan? Hopefully you can feel more at ease now? 🙂

Just looked back, it's @Charming81 who's scan is tomorrow so good luck lovely 🍀
