I’m due to start my second round of FET in August so thought I would set up this group for some treatment buddies ❤️

@Hopingforno2in2023 - I used to have the same problem as my veins are apparently quite thin! So they usually take blood from behind my palms where it's more visible .. tad painful, but guaranteed result than poking me on arms with no result!

@IVF23 - how many eggs / fertilised / day 3 embryos did you have? Your test is this Friday right? How do you feel? 🙂

Ooh that sounds painful @scaredynoob! The nurse said my issue is I have particularly strong veins, they put up a lot of resistance to the needle. I am taking this to mean that I am some sort of superhero 😂

@scaredynoob I'm so so sorry - I must have missed your message this morning when I posted, and I've just seen your message as I sent mine. I'm so so sorry and I wasn't intentionally being insensitive to you. How are you feeling? And have they said anything about the eggs etc and the one that has fertilised? I hope your husband / partner is around today? It's great that you're booked in for Thursday. Is that a day 3 transfer then?

@IVF23 Sorry you're feeling a little disheartened too. It's amazing that you have a strong one in you now though! Remind me - was this a day 3? I hope you're both okay and again, sorry if my post appeared insensitive - I didn't see the others. xx

@scaredynoob i had a day 3 transfer yesterday and thought I would share some info from my clinic visit, in hope it will give you reassurance. My clinic advised they cannot tell you the standard grading (A,B etc) as that only applies when it becomes a blastocyst at day 5 or 6. My clinic.explained at day 3 there should be 6-10 cells, they grade on day 3 as top quality - everything looking as expected and good cell formation, good - looking as expected but some of the cells may not be as tight, and average - bit slower to develop but chance it can pick up.

My clinic are very big on putting an embryo back at day 3 as it's the best environment for it (aslong as no infection or OHSS), they would do this if there was one outstanding or just one left. (There is then less exposure to light etc between day 3-5 which can deteriorate it, I know this as I asked for a pic of the embryo to be told they can but getting it out multiple times can be a risk so said it wasn't a problem).

I haven't given my numbers yet but will at day 5 or 6 when I have final figures, I feel like putting them down and how things can change is a big thing.

Hey @GCS34 - don't be sorry at all. You should celebrate your wins!!!! I remember all the times you have cheered me up!!!

My partner did come home from work post lunch to be with me. I had anyway taken this day off.

Re the rest of the eggs / delayed fert, well the embryologist asked me to not get my hopes up, but she'll keep me posted of course. Delayed fertilisation means either the egg or sperm had poor morphology.

And yes, it will be a day 3 transfer. Don't know how that will turn out. Now I'm just praying there's no further attrition. However, given math, the attrition "rate" remains same whether all 13 eggs fertilised or just one.

I don't know I'm trying hard to be okay, maybe will take today's day to wallow in self pity, and bounce back soon despite the rest of the hormones I'm using!!

@scaredynoob sorry to hear you’re having a shit time. Based on my previous IVF disappointments I would say it’s good to take some time to wallow and process. Eat all the ice cream and chocolate ❤️

Hoping some of you may be able to give me some advice…. I have my first scan today for attempt no 2 of FET. This time medicated. I had a bit of a chat with the dr about the injections and whether I could do lubion rather than subcutaneous in the bum - I’ve got a two weddings to attend this month and with the bum injections I’ve definitely found I need to ice the area for half an hour before DH injects. Is anyone able to shed some light or whether one type of injection is better than the other? Other than lubion being easier to administer…. Thanks in advance ❤️

Just did my first injection and it was fine although a lot of faff drawing up all the vials!

@KG1244 sorry I’ve never actually used injectable progesterone so can’t answer your question. If this transfer works they have said I will be taking lubion SC though - have you only taken the progesterone which goes into muscle? That sounds sore!!

@Hopingforno2in2023 exciting times! It’s great getting started isn’t it. Although I remember at my first cycle I had a few moments where I had to give my injections in toilets and felt like such a druggy 🤣

@Lowo21 @ttcsolomumtobe only 7dp5dt today 🙈 my OTD is next Tuesday so far away!!! I will know if something is happening though as period due at end of week so will see if it arrives or not 🤷‍♀️ literally no symptoms at all so not really sure what to think. I remember my last transfers I got super tired really easily but so far I’ve not noticed anything yet…

Hi everyone, do you mind if I join? I'm a newbie have my first ivf round this month

@Ellenn wow this second half really does go so slow. I hope there is no sign of your period for 8.5/9 months ... It can stay the hell away! 😂

My OTD is 21st, so luckily not having to wait the original 16 days that the nurse mentioned, but still it's a fair while and pretty certain I will be holding out to OTD as off work that week. Working next week and so hoping a period does arrive. I have no symptoms but the progesterone is killing my nipples, 24 hour nip on,... Sorry probably TMI I know but I'm having to put ice packs on them by the end of the day! I mean if that's my only feeling from all this I will take it but it's a very awkward one ha

@Lowo21 Awwww twinnyyy you’re so kind. I know honestly was a bit of a shock all round. Wasn’t expecting it and thought the lady yesterday was just making me feel better saying ‘they may improve’. But yeah she wasn’t lying. Only C’s but yeah 5 x shots now which is great. And if we need the C’s they’ll do 2 x so chance of twins too !! 😳🫣
hopefully end of the month it Jusy depends on when I get my withdrawal. My consultant is looking at what protocol is best so we’ll see.

how are you getting on girl?

@KG1244 thanks for your wishes. Re injectables, from what I understand they can be either stomach or top of thigh? Is this progesterone or estrogen? I think I’m going to be on tablets and patches due to my shit lining sitch. What did your dr say when they suggested them?

@IVF23 when is your OTD? I assum @ttcsolomumtobe yours is a week Monday? Is that right?

@GCS34 that's good about the transferring of 2 C, as still great chances. I would love twins! And yes, a week on Monday for me... Forever away but it's okay. Just trying to enjoy the time and do nice things. Struggling with sitting about all day,as in I just wanna be out and busy

@KG1244 I had lubion during my last frozen transfer round it is really effective, the injections are fine causes a little bit of bruising but not as bad as others I have had. The only downside is they are pricey, I got mine from asda as they were £150 with the clinic per week and asda charge around £57 so a massive price difference, it worked out cheaper even with the £50 private prescription fee. I would have lubion again if I get the choice on my next round :)

@GCS34 what an amazing turn around! Every embryo has the potential of making a baby and grading means nothing!

Hi ladies, I’m a newbie to mumsnet, not IVF. I’m currently in my downreg for my second cycle of IVF. Was lucky to get my daughter from my second transfer in my first cycle. Started trying for a sibling earlier this year and sadly had a miscarriage on my first attempt.

This is a bit of a last throw of the dice as I’ve just turned 43, so know the odds are very slim. Good luck to everyone!

Could I ask you if you are doing PGTA testing? I am 41, in the mid of my first ivf cycle. I am getting pregnant but now all chemicals, last 1.5 years had 4. So we thought genetic testing could help to select better ones. But now I am learning that at my age very few if any embryos we fan get orr cycle for testing, and then high chance will be abnormal 😔 From the other hand, very emotionally difficult to go through more chemicals or mc
I read for sbd against testing....so cannot make my mind completely

Hey @kirstysmbc 👋 welcome! Lovely your baby girl is from ivf round one but SK sorry for your misscarriage. It’s not fair that we’re given that on top of the struggles to conceive naturally too. Can I ask, did the MC occur on your second transfer from your first round? And was your daughter round 1 transfer 1? Good luck for round 2. And 43 isn’t last chance saloon - they wouldn’t Le you do it if they didn’t think you could concierge 🥰🤍
