Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@TheBirdintheCave maybe speak to your clinic about a counselling session due to how it's making you feel. IVF is all consuming but this stress cannot be good on your body and wellbeing regardless of what the outcome in, I don't say that lightly either but if you do have to go for another cycle/transfer you want to feel in the best place and if this does progress well and absolute fingers crossed you can't possibly live in this state of worry and panic for the next 20 weeks /38 weeks - whatever you feel is a safe period of time.

ASGIRC · 23/07/2023 17:25

@ttcsolomumtobe yeah, thes test on Friday is a beta. Im sure if its low (since it is so early), theyll order a second one... But who knows?!
Doing them privately isnt particularly expensive here, though, only about €25

ttcsolomumtobe · 23/07/2023 17:30

@ASGIRC that's good they test beta for you. I think people tend to have 2 sets of Betas, 48 hours apart so they can see if the numbers are doubling.

My clinic don't do them included in the package, they send a Clearblue pregnancy test and my OTD is 16 days after transfer... Which seems a bit far away ha.

I think you can request betas but they will likely charge. Think on average they are around £90-150 here in UK depending on your clinic.

I think I would have them for peace of mind if I had any concerns, although it's an extra cost in the grand scheme of what you pay privately the above figure suddenly seems like pence.

Olivia199 · 23/07/2023 17:35

It's mad how different all the clinics are. Mine did one blood test last time. No mention this time but assume the same!

@ttcsolomumtobe Clinics here only do repeat betas if the values are low, to rule out chemical or non evolving pregnancies.
If the numbers are in the multiple hundreds, they dont repeat them.

ttcsolomumtobe · 23/07/2023 17:47

Oooo that's interesting! Well i.hope your number is well into the hundreds!

ASGIRC · 23/07/2023 17:48

On another note, I might duck out of Sunday dinner at my moms tonight... Usually its a full family affair, with aunts and uncles and cousins, but its summer, so everyone is on holiday, and my brother also cant make it...
So it would be really difficult to disguise my not drinking, and I cant make up an excuse with her, as she wont take things at face value!

So I told my mom maybe Im just gonna stay home tonight, and we can have lunch during the week or something (much easier to not drink at lunch!).

And next week it will be past my OTD, so I can either tell her Im pregnant or not!

ME TOOOOOO!!!!!

TheBirdintheCave · 23/07/2023 17:55

@ttcsolomumtobe We have a counselling session booked for Wednesday morning :)

I've ruled out booking my own betas because of the expense. Seems kind of pointless when we already know it's likely a chemical.

@ASGIRC 9dpt does seem early for an official test but if it's a blood test then I guess that's more accurate than a pee test. Makes more sense to do it that way I think!

And yep, just call them, say that we're pregnant and then they'd book a scan for us is what we were told 🤷🏻‍♀️ Obvs we'll have to have a more lengthy conversation with them now though.

Lauralozzle · 23/07/2023 18:51

@Walker12 Yay for transfer!!

@TheBirdintheCave I’m sorry this is causing you so much turmoil. I hope it’s a sticky embryo! Fingers crossed for you.

Fell asleep super early last night. Woke up at crack of dawn but fell asleep again. Fell asleep on sofa too, this afternoon, watching F1. I’m so thirsty! I don’t remember this as a side effect last time! I’ve felt quite uncomfortable all day so I’m hoping I haven’t ovulated early!

Dinner, bath and then an early night I reckon for egg collection tomorrow morning.

Here’s the hamster 🐹 We’ve named him Jaws cause he’s a bit nippy!

Olivia199 · 23/07/2023 19:18

@Lauralozzle - Oh bless you, I remember feeling a lot like that to be honest (and genuine honest to god fear I was ovulating!) All was well though. I hope you get a good night's rest. I wonder if some of the exhaustion is from the slog you've had to get to this point. Almost a "I've done my bit for now" so your body gets all the rest.

Jaws is an absolute delight!

Lauralozzle · 23/07/2023 19:28

@Olivia199 You might be right. All the injections and stress of that, even though I’m ok with them, might just be catching up with me. I trust that I haven’t ovulated but this is the bit, isn’t it, where you just hope it all goes ok.

It’s probably the nerves, it all felt like it went wrong after egg collection last time. I really hope the AOA and the zymot works, I’ve read lots where it’s been just the thing it just didn’t make a difference at all. I’m hoping I have the exact same response to the drugs this time- as in, don’t remember a thing!

Ivfround1 · 23/07/2023 19:29

Hi everyone!

hope everyone’s retrieval, prep and transfers (or where ever you are in your journey!) is going well.

I had my 1st frozen transfer of our 5b+b embryo 4 days ago. I’m finding it sooo difficult to not test. I’m actually testing multiple times a day. I see such a faint shadow on my one from today. My husband does not at all. Has anyone else gotten a positive this early? Trying to convince myself it could be true!

Walker12 · 23/07/2023 19:34

@ASGIRC I also plan on avoiding most social/drinking events for the next few weeks, partly because I can't fit into anything other than very loose elasticated trousers at the moment due to the bloat!

@Lauralozzle ahh he's very cute! I relate to the tiredness, I've never spent so much time relaxing/sleeping. Hope you have a lovely restful night and that the egg collection goes well tomorrow 😊

Walker12 · 23/07/2023 19:37

Hi @Ivfround1 ! I can definitely see something on that test but I would try to hold off a couple of days in you can. I've gone through phases of being testing obsessed in the past and got my husband to hide the tests which did actually help remove the temptation! Best of luck though and hopefully it will turn into a proper positive soon

Walker12 · 23/07/2023 19:38

I just realised you said you've not told your husband about the testing, but even if you could put them somewhere out of reach for a while (car maybe?) It might help

Ivfround1 · 23/07/2023 19:54

@Walker12 oh he knows. He is telling me to stop doing it to myself 😂. He says he can’t see anything on that test. That’s a good idea.. I might actually have him hide them til day 6, otherwise I don’t see myself stopping the insanity of 2 test a day!

ttcsolomumtobe · 23/07/2023 19:58

@Ivfround1 These tests are terrible really early on because where the pink line would fall it actually had a straight plastic line as part of the housing of the test. Probably not explaining it very well but if you turn the test over you will see what I mean. It always makes mine look like there's a shadow there.

I would hold of testing as look as you can. When is your OTD?

Ivfround1 · 23/07/2023 20:07

@ttcsolomumtobe oh yea - I see what you mean with that. The 29th or 30th. My doctor will call on the 28th and let me know which day to come in. It’s really not that far, but feels like forever at the same time. I’m going to put the tests away for a bit!

Walker12 · 23/07/2023 20:18

@Ivfround1 sorry I misread that completely.. Yes definitely hide them away for a few days and be strong!

ASGIRC · 23/07/2023 20:21

@Ivfround1 I think were around the same time!!! I also had my FET 4 days ago.
I tested out the trigger 2 days ago, and it was out of my system.
I did one today, just as a "just in case". It was obviously negative. I think from tomorrow or tuesday it should start giving some actual results!

My OTD is also the 29th!!

Olivia199 · 23/07/2023 20:31

@Lauralozzle - I'm sure you will, the meds are great for EC! Enjoy your early morning snooze!! (And good luck, I know how scary this bit is.)

Hi @Ivfround1!
I got my positive on 4dp5dt last time (and DD is now coming up to 2 years old). It looked very similar, so hopefully this is the start of something very exciting!

My friends just got her positive on day 6 after testing every day from day 3. I'm totally beyond thrilled for her but it's made me think about maybe waiting. I know having gotten such an early positive last time, I'll be disheartened immediately it doesn't happen again.

I've spent my day running around softplay, traipsing round the science museum and tidying the chaos that is my house (how can there be so much chaos when we have been out most the day?!). This is varying wildly from my first time round where I baked cakes and read books and watched TV..

Ivfround1 · 23/07/2023 20:42

@ASGIRC yes, we must have been on the same day! If all goes to plan, due date of April 5th for me based on the calculations I did 😂. Are you going to start testing tomorrow or hold off a bit?

@Olivia199 you one of the lucky ones with the early positive. I keep reading those stories and hoping that will be me, so knowing that’s how yours looks does give some hope! Sounds like you have a lot going on. Hopefully that can help take your mind off testing!

Olivia199 · 23/07/2023 20:53

@Ivfround1 - I was very lucky. And my first beta was over 5000. I had a vanishing twin which explained all that though.

The one thing I can't stop thinking about is my boobs. Or, particularly, one boob. My right one hurts like it normally does before AF. But maaaan. Poor lefty is having a hell of a time of it just now. Requiring cradling support. It could well be the progesterone but I haven't felt it until tonight.

Poor left boob.

I'd 10000% test tomorrow if I wasn't working. I'm currently working at a different trust which is further away. Only for two weeks, next week being the second. But we leave the house at 6am and I don't get home until 8pm. By which point I collapse into bed. Maybe Tuesday.
