FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@ASGIRC Nice! Let the science experiments begin!

SH998 · 21/07/2023 12:48

@TheBirdintheCave we are lucky enough to have 2 freezing but I know after this one my partner will not allow us to go through it again. Ill be more than happy with the one :)

ASGIRC · 21/07/2023 13:22

@wtawtaw congrats!!!! Thats such a strong line!!!!

Well, science testing is done! There is no trace of the trigger in my system (or there is, less than 10 mIU). The test was a clear negative, so shadow of a doubt.

So now I need to hope for a different outcome in a few days...

How many days post transfer did you guys start testing and getting positives?
Mine was 3AA, so it might be a bit behind, as it hadnt started hatching!

ttcsolomumtobe · 21/07/2023 13:30

@Lauralozzle good luck for Monday, hopefully the smaller ones will grow more across the weekend.

@ASGIRC that's great that your test shows blank so you know there's no trigger...now it's just deciding when to test. Even more appealing when you have a pack full of tests.

So sorry I forgot who asked but my clinic do pessaries for 12 weeks I believe.

All getting very exciting with people talking about due dates

TheBirdintheCave · 21/07/2023 13:42

@ASGIRC Oh wow! That's great that it's negative already. My first faint positive was 5dp5dt.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 21/07/2023 13:45

@ASGIRC my first positive was at 9dpt. Fingers crossed that you get a good result!!!

I can’t remember who asked but my clinic says I have to take all medication (pills, pessaries and injections 🤢) until 12 weeks. I cannot wait to be free of all my alarms going off throughout the day/night.

21C · 21/07/2023 14:08

@wtawtaw congratulations! What a beautiful line that is!

@Olivia199 i know the exact feeling. I’m 2dpt and haven’t felt any twinges or anything yet so feeling down and already checking for implantation bleeding everytime I pee even though I KNOW it would be far too early - losing my mind already 🙃

@ASGIRC how are you doing? Staying positive?

ASGIRC · 21/07/2023 14:17

@21C I have my moments... One minute Im thinking due dates, names and how Im gonna tell people, the next minute Im convinced it hasnt worked and that Im gonna have to go through this again, and spend more money.

I too am checking for bleeding, which should be very obvious, considering the stark white of the pessary leakage! But nothing!

@IVFfirsttimer91 OOFT thats my OTD, so I better get some positives before then!!! LOL

My clinic also said continue all medication until 12 weeks. However, Im only really doing the pessaries, and have 3 more weeks of vit D boosters.
The supplements I should be taking until the end of the pregnancy or thereabouts, but they were only recommended, not prescribed!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 21/07/2023 14:33

@ASGIRC fingers crossed that line comes soon!!!!!! And initially I was only on the pills and pessaries, but I had some worrying bleeding with small clots pretty early on, so they said I should do the progesterone injections every 3 days too.

orchid29 · 21/07/2023 14:59

@wtawtaw congratulations!! all the waiting paid off!!

on the meds, as far as i understand it the progesterone depends on fresh transfer/ natural/ or dow regulated. Basically if you ovulated your follicle sac triggers your own progesterone which is in addition to any progesterone the embryo triggers. but then lots of clinics also prefer you to keep taking it for a while because for some (very rare) people progesterone can suddenly dip and taking the supplements prevents this… at least that’s what the educational video from my clinic said 😂

Good luck to everyone else.

SH998 · 21/07/2023 15:02

@ASGIRC i had my faint positive the evening of 5dp5dt. Good luck :)

Lauralozzle · 21/07/2023 15:24

Clinic have called. Trigger tomorrow night at 8:30pm. Egg collection Monday 8:30AM , have to be there at 7:30. That’ll be a nice early start!

TheBirdintheCave · 21/07/2023 15:30

@Lauralozzle Oh wow that is early!

Lauralozzle · 21/07/2023 15:38

@TheBirdintheCave Tell me about it!

But, on another note, my manager has given me special leave with pay from Monday - Wednesday so I don’t need to worry about sickness and trigger points which is a relief!

Walker12 · 21/07/2023 15:52

That's exciting @Lauralozzle, early but you won't have much waiting around at least- I had to arrive at 9 for EC at midday! Hope you get some lovely quality eggs 😊

Caroline2023 · 21/07/2023 16:22

Wow @wtawtaw congratulations!! What wonderful news, you must be so happy ❤️

@ttcsolomumtobe fingers crossed you don’t have to wait much longer!

Thinking of you all in the waiting period to find out embryo news or outcome ❤️

I’ve got my scans booked in for CD 4, 6 and 8 next week (I can’t remember who asked that, sorry!).

ttcsolomumtobe · 21/07/2023 16:27

@Lauralozzle wow that is early.... But atleast you won't be too starving and thirsty when you get out! Hope it goes well

ASGIRC · 21/07/2023 16:50

@Lauralozzle thats amazing from your job!!!

And while it is early, Im sure thats better for fasting than an early afternoon collection!!

About the progesterone, on the day of the transfer, the doctor that did it was like "just keep doing the medication as you were prescribed, but if you miss one, dont fret. There is no real evidence you need to be taking it, we just err on the side of caution".

Im driving myself a bit insane.

Im convinced Im feeling some stabby pains on my left side. Theyre very mild.
And honestly, it could be gas! There is literally zero way to know if it is anything to do with implantation, and if I hadnt had a transfer 2 days ago, I wouldnt even be paying attention to it.
But I keep thinking about it. and wondering if it might have some significance...
When I know that any and all "symptoms" at this stage are more than likely psychosomatic, or completely unrelated.

However, Im very chill about it. I know theres nothing else I can do. Im doing my best, so whatever will be, will be.

21C · 21/07/2023 17:08

@Lauralozzle that was same as me last week! There for 7.30 egg collection at 8.30 but it’s not too bad other than the early start, means you can sleep it off rest of day!

@ASGIRC haha I have been exact same! Randomly had a small nosebleed earlier which was so strange don’t think I’ve had one since I was a child and such a dry mouth all day but been having water all day so naturally turned to google when usually I wouldn’t even bother. Also trying to stay level headed even though it might not sound like it!

Thank you 🙂 that's exactly what the clinic told me this morning as I asked her how does the body in a fresh transfer produce progesterone before the placenta takes over and she said...in a natural cycle one follicle that produced the egg will produce progesterone and because I had 17 eggs collected, 17 of those follicles will produce progesterone. Really didn't know that! Every day is a school day with this ivf talk!

Thank you also to @Caroline2023 @21C @ASGIRC 😃

@ASGIRC when do you think you're going to start testing from? Sorry if I've missed it, struggle to keep up on this thread 😅

Lauralozzle · 21/07/2023 20:46

@TheBirdintheCave Thank you. I’m hoping for 5-6 eggs. Not as many as last time but hopefully it’ll be enough. I love that you’ve worked out your due date already! I do that all the time

@SH998 Thank you. Monday can’t come quick enough! It’s great that your test is darker this time round

@wtawtaw Thank you.

I love the fact that you’ve all worked out your due dates

@ASGIRC I’m so happy work have allowed special leave. I 100% expected to take sick, asked about how planned sick works and she called me saying I can have special leave!

Fingers crossed for you. I hope the stabby pains are implantation for you!!!

@ttcsolomumtobe I don’t have much hope for the one at 13 but I’m really hopeful the ones at 16/15 will get there. Hopefully I won’t be too hungry when I leave. Don’t tend to eat breakfast until after ten anyway. Hadn’t thought of that, last time it was about 11:00 and by the time I woke up about I was bloody starving!

@Caroline2023 Yay for scans all booked in and sorted. It’s good you have them arranged in advance. I’m with CARE and it’s very much, scan day 7, wait for a telephone call in the afternoon to find out the date of the next scan and so on. Having your first 3 circled certainly makes it easier with planning around life!

@21C I think an afternoon on the sofa will be required Monday

Sorry if I missed anyone. This thread is moving quickly 😆

I’ve done my last meriofert injection! Only 3 injections left! I’m counting them down!!!

TheBirdintheCave · 21/07/2023 21:03

@Lauralozzle Oh I worked it out at the start of the cycle 😅

ASGIRC · 21/07/2023 21:09

@TheBirdintheCave haha mine is the 5th of April, according to a calculator based on my transfer day 😂

That is if I'm pregnant!

TheBirdintheCave · 21/07/2023 22:56

@ASGIRC Everything crossed for you!

TheBirdintheCave · 22/07/2023 06:20

Wide awake and took another test which is basically negative so, unless my 10am pee trick works today, I'm back to thinking this is a chemical 😭😭
