FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

@orchid29 I like to take disappointment slowly too. I can't imagine testing on OTD and seeing nothing and knowing it was 100% for sure all over.

@Lauralozzle I’m convinced they can’t always count them properly on the ultrasound when there are many - our number ended up being quite different than they told us during the tests.

@TheBirdintheCave yeah it was pretty tough, also as i had family visit that weekend and didn’t tell them at the time!
i also felt i has quite a few symptoms that were strong for a while and then got less towards the end of the tww so part of me wonders if it was a chemical pregnancy but no way of knowing now. if it was it probably would have been more of a roller coaster but i would also feel less like it was all in my head…

@orchid29 yes that's a good idea, being slowly let down rather than a shock. We had the shock last time and it was like the world ended for us. Scared of feeling that again.

Shall I test today!??? Ahhh so tempted. Maybe too late if I need to do it on first waking. I'm 9dp5dt what do you reckon? 😬 I have a clear blue 6 day early test in the house and that's it

@wtawtaw I'm a terrible influence but... yes, definitely test now 😂 I got a positive this morning (5dp5dt) on a Clear Blue Early (not counting my chickens yet though) so it should definitely show for you at 9! :)

@wtawtaw hm a difficult one - i think there is a chance you get a worse result by taking it in the evening - but i guess it depends on how much you drink/ ie how concentrated your pee is.

But I shouldn’t give any advice — i’m considering taking one this evening and i’m 2dp5dt 😂

They’ve just called and said we officially have a day5 grade B blastocyst frozen. I honestly can’t believe we have made it this far.

The other embryo is in early blastocyst stage but not quite good enough to be frozen yet. They said they would leave it until day6 and if still not good enough to freeze that would be it but I’m now absolutely freaking out about losing the embryo and asking for them to transfer it fresh today as I don’t want to lose it! The doctor is going to phone me back as 20 eggs collected made me ‘high risk’ for OHSS but I feel completely fine. They also said they might not have space for me today to do a transfer I’m honestly beside myself.

I'm at the clinic and the diazepam has kicked in. I feel drunk AF!! 😂😂

I would think a 9dp5dt would show up.

Did you take a trigger @orchid29 ?@orchid29 ? If so, it might still be in your system!

@21C That’s great news on your one frozen. I hope they can transfer the other one today, or maybe even tomorrow? fingers crossed.

I had similar results last cycle, 2 fertilised, one blast on day 5 which was transferred (no OHSS issues though) and one which was behind. I wish they’d have transferred both to be honest, the other one had grown by day 6 but couldn’t be frozen as it was still behind a bit. I’d have rather given it a chance.

@21C congratulations on the blastocyst! Did they say what grading it was?

@ASGIRC good drunk or bad drunk? and no trigger for me, so no chance of a false positive.

They’ve just called me back the said the doctor said absolutely to transferring today as the embryo is still a blastocyst on day5 so we are going in at 2.30! Thank god.
She said it’s a grade D blastocyst but I’m trying not to get hung up on that and just so grateful for a chance. They said that transferring on day6 wouldn’t be an option because of timeframe for implantation so I felt sick at the thought of this slow grower just being discarded if it wasn’t at a freezeable grade. At least I’ll know I’ve given it a chance!

@ASGIRC Apparently I seemed pretty stoned at my last egg collection. Hubby said I blurted out that they had my legs in stirrups and then made horse noises when I got back to the room! 🤦‍♀️

@wtawtaw I was testing by 7dpt last time so I’d say go for it! It should show by 9dpt I’d have thought!

@Lauralozzle hope you are getting on OK and that your follicles keep going in the right direction, mine dropped slightly between my first and second scan too but they did say my right ovary was hard to see/find!

I had a lovely call this morning to say 8 of my 9 eggs have fertilised, so feeling cautiously hopeful we will have something to transfer on Sunday- no updates until then at all from our clinic so going to try to keep busy over the next few days

@Lauralozzle That is an excellent story 😂 I apparently kept falling asleep and waking up again once I got back to recovery and asking my husband 'How long was I out?' every time.

@21C that's great news!! I had a few slower blasts on day 6 that were frozen so there is still hope! But hopefully they can do a transfer today for you.

They're late. Should be having my transfer now, but instead, here I am, in the waiting room, dying for a piss! 😂😂

@Walker12 I’m getting on okay. It’s a bit strange, I was ‘fully cooked’ by this point last time, but we reduced the meds because I was ready so quickly. I never had a third stims scan before. Hopefully the clinic will call this afternoon. If I’m ready by Friday, I won’t be able to trigger until Saturday as the clinic don’t do transfers on Sundays. But that happened last time, so they might do that again. I’m going to have to buy more gonal f though on Friday, which is a pain because it’s so bloody expensive!
