FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@Walker12 And that is an excellent fertilisation rate!!!!

Walker12 · 19/07/2023 12:31

Thanks all, feeling positive, and happy for my DH as he was worried about his sample (tests have been fine but slightly low morphology)

@ASGIRC hope it happens soon, no one wants a puddle on the floor 😂 I am dreading the full bladder situation especially whilst they are rummaging around down there!

@Lauralozzle that's a pain but I find it somewhat reassuring the idea of it being slow and steady if that makes sense?! Although not good about the extra expense, I still can't get my head around the cost of it all (hoping we might get lucky on our nhs round but realise we may not be that fortunate)

Totally agree about this thread being so wonderfully supportive ❤️

Walker12 · 19/07/2023 12:32

@orchid29 good luck if you do decide to test! 🤞

Walker12 · 19/07/2023 12:38

Oh sorry @orchid29 that was meant for @wtawtaw, my brain is still a bit slow from the sedative yesterday!

ASGIRC · 19/07/2023 12:45

@Walker12 I've now been called and put in a medical room... But have been here a good 15 minutes... Bladder situation is not improving 😂

orchid29 · 19/07/2023 12:45

@Walker12 that is an amazing fertilisation rate! Congrats!

@Lauralozzle happened to us too - had to buy a stupid gonal f pen for a single day! it felt so painful throwing it out after the egg collection!

@wtawtaw just to say - with my first daughter my wife tested negative 14dpo so roughly 9dpt and we were super crushed, we then tested a week later and got the positive.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 19/07/2023 12:53

Good luck today @ASGIRC!!! hope it all goes well :)

ASGIRC · 19/07/2023 12:55

Just been told there's a delay (no shit, my transfer was booked for an hour ago!!) but that I'm next.
No idea what that means in terms of time, just that I am definitely going to be late for work. 🙄🙄

wtawtaw · 19/07/2023 12:57

@Walker12 thank you, think I'm going to hold off though!

@orchid29 that's interesting! Was that after a 5 day transfer too?

IVFfirsttimer91 · 19/07/2023 12:58

@TheBirdintheCave 🥳🥳 that’s so exciting. Keeping all the things crossed for you and really happy for you xx

ttcsolomumtobe · 19/07/2023 12:59

@21C so happy they are letting you go for a fresh transfer today and hope all keeps developing well with your second.

@ASGIRC your recent messages made me giggle, hope you are all done and managing to grab a bit of chill time before work.

@Walker12 that's amazing!!

So many updates going on... I'm just very impatiently waiting for my period 😫 doing extra classes/swim/walk in an attempt to get it moving hahaha

ASGIRC · 19/07/2023 13:27

All done now!

It was fairly uncomfortable (but I also find smears really uncomfortable), but the team was lovely and very willing to answer questions, not that I had many.

They gave me a photo of my embryo, showed me where it was being released, and told me to resume normal life straight away, including sex life (non existent, but they don't need to know that!)

And my OTP is on the 28th!! That will be an hCG at the clinic.

The Doctor also said that if I decided to test and it was negative by Wednesday, then I probably wasn't pregnant, and now I'm thinking I'm not gonna be pregnant... So you know... It's gonna be a tough week!

TheBirdintheCave · 19/07/2023 13:31

@ASGIRC Hoorah! Hope you could go to the loo right away!

Hahaha yes! They kept asking me if I was ok and not about to burst!
Apparently, they don't need full full. Just nicely full, IE not in pain!!

Bristol2021 · 19/07/2023 14:28

Hi all, I‘m new to this thread and to IVF. Currently on day 7 of the first cycle and have had an initial scan that was pretty disappointing - having had baseline AfC of 6 (not great) only one follicle seems to be developing and another three are still <5mm. I’m on a high dose of menopur so nothing to be done on that front. Has anyone had similar and did you end up abandoning the cycle? I’ll have another scan in two days, and I think I’d still have the option to do the egg collection even with just one egg, but the odds would be hugely stacked against a successful outcome from the cycle.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 19/07/2023 14:39

Hiya everyone, small update from me, second lot of bloods went well and I’m so happy to say that my levels are now 3663 which means they’ve slightly more than doubled. And I’ve got my first midwife consultation for the 31st July!!

Great news about all the transfers today and good luck to everyone for upcoming ones ❤️

wtawtaw · 19/07/2023 14:41

Hi @Bristol2021 and welcome. I don't have experience in low follicle numbers but I wanted to say hello! Are you with BCRM?
What's your AMH like? The first round is almost like a trial and error unfortunately to see how you do respond as no one can tell until you're doing it. It may be a case that if this doesn't work they can switch up the protocol next time

TheBirdintheCave · 19/07/2023 14:43

@IVFfirsttimer91 Great news on your numbers today! And not long til your first midwife appointment either!

Lauralozzle · 19/07/2023 14:57

@ASGIRC Hooray! 28th isn’t too far away!

@Bristol2021 hello 👋 Hopefully they just need a bit more time. I’ve not had an abandoned cycle, but this cycle I’m not responding as I did before, as I started on a lower dose this time. The first go is a bit of a trial run and they can change things up a bit next time if that’s needed. I’m on completely different meds this cycle with a different protocol.

@IVFfirsttimer91 Congratulations 🎉 That’s fabulous news!

Clinic have called. I am to continue with my increased dose and have another scan on Friday. Hopefully I’ll be at least nearly ready by Friday!

Bristol2021 · 19/07/2023 15:01

Thanks, I was prepared for this cycle being a test of what works. My AMH is low though (3.2) so I wasn’t expecting a great outcome, but with AFC of 6 and everything else normal I was hoping for a bit more than this. I’ll see how the next scan goes and fingers crossed the others might have woken up a bit. The protocol is already pretty high dosage so if anything I’d think to try low dose approach and not aim for more than 1-2 eggs next time.

Bristol2021 · 19/07/2023 15:10

Also to add - I‘m with BCRM yes! Can’t fault the treatment so far, and it’s taken a lot to get this far, so really hoping it isn’t a wasted effort!

ASGIRC · 19/07/2023 15:12

@21C How did it go???

@IVFfirsttimer91 amazing numbers!!!!

I am too, I too have found them amazing so far! It does show that they do want the very best for everyone 🥰

21C · 19/07/2023 15:27

@ASGIRC I’ve just a similar experience, was finding it so uncomfortable and they couldn’t see my full cervix tried 2 different speculums and eventually found it after 10 mins of poking and prodding I was fully sweating by this point! They then done the transfer and handed the catheter back to embryologist but the embryo was still in it! Had to do it again but hoping that means it’s a super sticky one 🤞🏼finally all transferred and they were lovely with me!

blood test on the Monday 31st at the clinic but given a home test to take on Saturday 29th so super close timeline!

I’ve got everything crossed for us all we can do is pray now!
