FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@Raleighx - That's amazing news!! I had two average ones on day 3, one of which got to "top" and the other staged average! Got everything crossed for you. One step closer. Looks like there will be a few of us in the TWW as of next week! I'm on countdown with four sleeps to go until transfer.

@21C that's great news today! I really hope they keep developing nicely for you. Agreed, the wait is unbearable! Time goes so slow!

Walker12 · 16/07/2023 16:14

Hope your embryos keep developing nicely @21C and @Raleighx ! My egg collection is confirmed for just before midday Tues so trigger shot just before 1am! It made me laugh that she asked what sandwich I want, at what point do you get the sandwich ladies?!

TheBirdintheCave · 16/07/2023 16:24

@Walker12 You get a sandwich? 😱 I got a cup of tea and some biscuits 😒 I feel short changed now 😂

Walker12 · 16/07/2023 16:29

@TheBirdintheCave 😂 I think I'd rather have the biscuits! Maybe it's because mine is near to lunch time?! The options were quite sad if that helps, Tuna, cheese or ham..

ASGIRC · 16/07/2023 16:31

@21C thats really great news!!! Hope it continues to go that way for you!!!

@AnaS86 did you have your egg collection on Friday?

wtawtaw · 16/07/2023 16:32

@Walker12 good luck for you egg collection this week! I just got a pack of Oreo's and a cup of tea! So no sandwiches for me either. To be fair I expect a 3 course meal as standard after egg collection the way they make us starve ourselves all morning! 😅

21C · 16/07/2023 16:33

Thanks everyone, feels so nice to know our wee embryos have a whole community cheering them on ♥️ really appreciated.

@Walker12 wow a sandwich haha. I also only got a cup of tea and some toast and jam once I had came round enough from sedation although I will say it hit the spot!

Walker12 · 16/07/2023 16:36

OK maybe I should be feeling more grateful for the sandwich 😄 yes I keep forgetting I'll probably be ravenous!

TheBirdintheCave · 16/07/2023 16:41

Walker12 · 16/07/2023 16:29

@TheBirdintheCave 😂 I think I'd rather have the biscuits! Maybe it's because mine is near to lunch time?! The options were quite sad if that helps, Tuna, cheese or ham..

Oh yikes yeah they do sound like rather boring choices.

I had a better meal after the surgical management of my last miscarriage 😂

I was expecting at least a hot meal with private treatment.

AnaS86 · 16/07/2023 16:42

Sorry for being quiet the last few days!
At my scan on Wednesday they decided they wanted to give it a couple of days longer which was frustrating as I'd prepared myself for the collection on Friday. However it was for the best as the scan on Friday showed that they can probably now get about 14-16 eggs. I'm booked in tmw morning. Had the trigger injection last night (and been feeling quite crappy since!)
I don't know when the transfer will be now so I'll be a little behind you @ASGIRC !

ASGIRC · 16/07/2023 16:50

Well, if the delay in the egg collection is for the best, it is for the best!
If youre having it tomorrow, then possible transfer on Saturday?
In any case, I have everything crossed for you!!

I have unrelated blood work to do tomorrow, and my left arm is still bruised from the blood draw of last Sunday!

Also, it occurred to me... how does it work with the pessaries and the transfer?
Cause I read they do a cervix wash, which will wahs away the pessaries, surely? Do you then just keep on your regular schedule? Or should you do some more straight away?

My doctor has been a bit hands off in terms of telling me things... But obvs today is a Sunday, so Im definitely not buggin her!

Walker12 · 16/07/2023 16:57

@TheBirdintheCave yes you'd think it would be a bit nicer given how expensive the process is.. This is my NHS round so im even more surprised that the sandwich is the better option 😂

@AnaS86 hi, I'll be a day behind you as egg collection on Tues (and then hopefully transfer on Sunday), sounds like you'll have a good amount of eggs! Today they said I have 9 of a good size and 6 smaller ones but trying not to read too much into the numbers.

@ASGIRC are yours one you can have via rectum or just vaginally? I am sure I have read that they suggest you do it rectally that day if possible, but I'm sure if not they will tell you what to do re. taking any extra ones

ASGIRC · 16/07/2023 17:05

@Walker12 no mention of doing it rectally on the leaflet nor from doctor. just vaginally. But yeah, Ill ask the doctor before the transfer what I should do. Its just something I thought about last night, as I only started the pessaries on Friday!

Olivia199 · 16/07/2023 20:03

@ASGIRC - It depends I think what time your transfer is. If your medication can be used either way then definitely rectal on the day. If, like mine, it isn't then it depends on the time. Mines 1pm so I'll do my lunchtime one after. Have I remembered correctly that yours is 10:30?

Exciting to hear everyone's progress! Good luck for egg collection tomorrow and Tuesday.

OP posts:
ASGIRC · 16/07/2023 20:11

@Olivia199 yes, 10.30.

Usually I've been doing the morning one around 8/9, then the afternoon one aroubd 4pm (and then the night one at bedtime)

Definitely not rectal.

I guess I can do the morning one and then do the afternoon one a bit earlier than usual. I'll ask, anyway.

Also need to find out when I'm supposed to take the diazepam... I'm assuming I'll get an official communication from the clinic, as so far it's just been a text from my doctor on WhatsApp!
And in that communication there should be some instructions as well!

So close now!!

Olivia199 · 16/07/2023 21:06

@ASGIRC - Oh bless you, I hope they clarify somewhat soon!
Getting very close, how exciting!

I'm feeling really nauseous and have been for a few days on the progynova. Which is fine, I do not cope at all with nausea or vomiting but I've managed mostly. Only my BIL has been sick tonight, and I spent yesterday with them, so now definitely panicking that this is going to be a bug. Back to frantically googling "what happens if I throw up my progynova".

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 16/07/2023 23:36

@ASGIRC I did my pessary a few hours earlier the day of my transfer. No one said anything so it didn't seem to matter :)

IVFfirsttimer91 · 17/07/2023 07:23

@Olivia199 i felt so so sick when I started the progynova. My clinic said that if I threw up an hour after I had taken it it should be ok unless I see the pills in the vomit. If I threw up before the hour or saw the pills, I should take more. I didn’t actually throw up, but it was good to know the sort of time frame just in case, hope you feel better soon! Xx

ttcsolomumtobe · 17/07/2023 07:38

@Walker12 good luck for your collection

@Raleighx that's great news, hope the quality doesn't decline but glad you are closer to transfer, have you decided on 1 or 2…?
@21C - great news - hope it keeps progressing well for you.

@Olivia199 hope you are feeling better soon and have spare tablets if needed.

The food afterwards convo made me laugh, I have been told I get a sarni and have to pee before they let me go.

I'm at that stage of looking everytime I go to the bathroom to see if AF has arrived 😂 never been so keen before.

Lauralozzle · 17/07/2023 08:16

@AnaS86 I hope today goes smoothly. Good luck with your egg collection.

@21C I’m glad those embryos are doing well. Fingers crossed for you.

Scan this morning for me, so we’ll see if I’m responding well. I hate Wanda, it’s always uncomfortable when they look and fail to find my right ovary.

Lauralozzle · 17/07/2023 08:19

@Raleighx That’s excellent news for your day 3 update. I’m sure you’ll have something to transfer. Hopefully you get a good number of blasts!

Olivia199 · 17/07/2023 08:38

Update from the sickness side of things. Wasn't a side effect. Definitely a bug. Up all night and still sick now, but lasted long enough after the tablets that I was fine! It's taken out the whole damn extended family. 😒

Still, taking a positive in that it isn't Thursday today!

Good luck with collections and scans today guys! Thinking of you all.

Lauralozzle · 17/07/2023 11:14

@Olivia199 I hope you feel a bit better soon!

Scan went okay. Not there yet as it’s still early days. They counted seven follicles growing on my left ovary, all a bit uneven still. But I’m responding which is good.

Had bloods today as well to check levels. Waiting on a call to find out if my meds need changing at all and when my next scan will be. They said probably Wednesday or Thursday.

My right ovary is still small and doing nothing. I was asked if I’d had a cyst or anything? Not that I’m aware of, but she said sometimes they can compromise blood flow to the ovary.

I’m still convinced I have endo and it’s ruined my right ovary. That or it just never grew properly and it’s always been like this. I think endo is more likely though.

My womb lining is good though!

wtawtaw · 17/07/2023 11:26

@AnaS86 good luck for egg collection today! They gave you some great predications on numbers 🤞🏻
