FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@Trying22 thanks for the explanation😊 it’s all so complicated, guess we just need to keep believing in the process and one day we’ll get there

ASGIRC · 12/07/2023 17:50

Had my scan earlier this afternoon. 17mm!
Still waiting on the result of the LH, estradiol and progesterone bloods I did this morning.
Wont know if I need to take the trigger until I get those results!
I have tracked down a pharmacy that is open late, which has some, as it seems to be like golddust out there. Ive called quite a few pharmacies, and none had it!!

Olivia199 · 12/07/2023 18:50

@ASGIRC - How exciting!! Well done for sourcing it, hopefully won't be needed. Do you get blood results today?

Olivia199 · 12/07/2023 19:05

@Trying22 - Sorry to hear that :( thinking of you and hope the doctor comes up with a good plan going forward. I'm sure they will!

ASGIRC · 12/07/2023 19:29

@Olivia199 lab has assured me I will. But they work through the night, so it might happen at any time.
This particular pharmacy is open until midnight... There are others open 24h, but I havent called any of those. I figure if its an after midnight situation, its not today!

Olivia199 · 12/07/2023 19:34

@ASGIRC - Oh gosh! I mean, they're efficient at least?! Hopefully it isn't too late for you but agree that if it's beyond the midnight mark, it's probably not a today problem.

So the next couple of weeks, I'm working in a hospital further away, which logistically is a bit of a nightmare but has to be done as I'm training there. It worked out well for treatment as I'll be supernumerary and therefore more able to change about but also working Monday, Wednesday and Friday and I knew my clinic only did transfers on Tuesday and Thursdays..

But that means I'll be working in a new department, doing 14 hours days with commute and also using the sodding park and ride in a city I've not been to in years and years. So I'm a little nervous. And doing it all on progesterone pesseries and through the TWW... Nice.

This week I'm on annual leave to get things sorted for myself and also relax and recoup before the madness. Only poor DD isn't well as I mentioned upthread.

She's now looking worse and struggling with her breathing despite the inhaler so I'm packing a bag incase we end up heading out to A&E, having only seen the GP a couple hours ago.

I'm feeling a touch overwhelmed.

ASGIRC · 12/07/2023 19:59

@Olivia199 yeah... Only my doctor will want new bloods tomorrow, if thats the case... which is... not ideal. And surely the results from today will tell her what we need to know anyway...
She also seems to live in a fantasy world, as she was asking me if I did my bloods at the clinic, in the morning... Er.. no! I dont live anywhere NEAR the clinic, and theres a lab satellite 5 minutes away from my house! Apparently if I had done the bloods at the clinic or at the lab headquarters I would be guaranteed earlier results, but did she mention any of this?! And then was all "I told you I needed the results today!". Im getting the results today! I cant control a lab!!!
It irked me a bit.

Oh man! That sounds rough! How much farther is the new hospital from where you are now?

Hope your DD feels better and you dont end up in A&E!

Olivia199 · 12/07/2023 20:14

@ASGIRC - Oh that'd irk me too. How can they possibly expect us to know this stuff?!

It's 20 mins to drop off DD at mums, and then an hour to the park and ride and 15 mins from there. I've done muuuuch longer commutes before and always been fine but the added stress with DD sort of tips me into being apprehensive. To be honest I'll be fine once I've done it once. But I've no idea where I'm going when I get there so it all feels a bit stressful. I was planning a dry run today but obviously couldn't.

Thank you. I'm keeping a close eye. Poor little thing. She's being a trooper though. Sang baby shark and the hokey cokey on repeat for most the evening!

Hope your DD is ok Olivia!

Booked my meds to be delivered on Tuesday :)

ASGIRC · 12/07/2023 20:43

@Olivia199 do you start at the new hospital next week? If so, theres time for your DD to feel better, and then you might not worry so much!
Hope you manage to do a dry run before you start.
I also find it helps me

Still no sign of the results... Im refreshing my email like a crazy person! I just want to know!!!!! Labs phones are closed now, so I cant even call for an update, though they would probably only be able to tell me Id get them today (which was what I was told when i called earlier)

I really hope Im past the peak and I dont need the damn trigger. I CBA going out again!!😂(obviously I will, if I have to!)

ASGIRC · 12/07/2023 22:57

11pm and still no results... Starting to think they wont arrive today... which means Im gonna have to go and get some more bloods taken tomorrow... FML...
My veins cant take it anymore!! Also, it means getting up extra early to go and get them done halfway across the city!!

21C · 12/07/2023 23:16

Hi everyone,

Hope ok to join! I took my trigger injection at 8.30pm tonight egg collection booked for 7.30am on Friday! 2nd round after failed first round in March (poor fertilisation and 3 day transfer with the one surviving embryo which failed). Really nervous about it going same way this time but also trying to relax and take this cycle as it comes!

hope everyone is managing to stay sane! I’m really feeling it after some follicles were measuring at 23 this morning at scan - looking forward to not feeling so full after Friday!

ASGIRC · 13/07/2023 00:22

OOOOFT! That was stressful!
Results arrived at 11.30pm! Sent them to the doctor, who said to take the damn ovitrelle! So mad dash to the pharmacy I had called earlier, as it was about to close (at midnight!).

Got home, shot myself, and now its done!!

Progesterone will start Friday night, then transfer will be Wednesday morning (time TBC).

So, ladies whove been through it, with the pessaries... is it better to wear a pad? Im gonna be doing 2 at a time, morning, afternoon and night.. I imagine there will be some spillage?

ASGIRC · 13/07/2023 00:26

@21C welcome!!! Hope your egg collection and subsequent fertilisation goes well!

SH998 · 13/07/2023 05:03

@ASGIRC ive been doing pessaries for the last few days (transfers today, I insert anally. There is no spillage whatsoever. I have tried vaginally and there is spillage, not really enough to wear a pad but then I was only doing 1 per time as instructed to take 12 hours apart. Vaginally you’re meant to lie down for 20 mins afterwards, this will prevent a little spillage.
Good luck :)

Olivia199 · 13/07/2023 07:38

@Hopingforno2in2023 - Eee! How exciting on the meds delivery!

OP posts:
Olivia199 · 13/07/2023 07:41

@ASGIRC - Yeah I don't start till Monday. I think I just got a bit overwhelmed last night, but doing better today!

Oh gosh that sounds very stressful indeed!! Well done for pulling it off though! I'll be watching you closely as I'll be 24 hours later.

It depends which pesseries you're on. I wasn't given the ones which can be done either way, so it was vaginally only sadly. And I haaaated them. And yes, they made a mess. But if you do have the ones that can be used both ways I'd 100% say go for the butt!!

Olivia199 · 13/07/2023 07:43

@21C - Welcome and good luck for egg collection! It definitely feels like a relief to get them all out. Sounds like you had a rough time of it last time. Hope this one is smoother for you.

@SH998 - Eee!! Good luck for transfer today!!

Hi everyone! I’ve been catching up with everyone’s updates. Very excited for you all!
im struggling slightly at the moment. After our 2 losses things are triggering me that have never affected me before (crying in the next baby department whilst choosing a gift!).
anyway… I’m a week in to this round of Progynova. This is my 3rd ivf cycle (2nd frozen) and someone here mentioned lots more CM! I’ve got waaaaaay more than last time and it’s bothering me! I’ve also been having problems with greasy hair! Anyone else? I was my hair as normal and rinse thoroughly but OH MY DAYS! I may as well have just poured cooking oil on my head! Assuming hormones at work. It’s not the end of the world at all but I can see people looking at it in work meetings 🙈🙈 hope everyone is ok 🥰

Lauralozzle · 13/07/2023 08:30

@ASGIRC That’s sounds like a very stressful 24hrs you’ve just had. Glad your blood results came through and that you were able to get the medication you needed.

@21C Hello. Fingers crossed for your egg collection!

@SH998 Hope your transfer goes smoothly today.

No real update from me. Early days on stims so not feeling much at all. My super heavy period has nearly ended! That was quick!

Olivia199 · 13/07/2023 08:34

@LittleAm - I'm sorry you're having a tough time. Absolutely reasonable considering what you've been through. I've got everything crossed that this cycle is the one.
I'm the one who mentioned the increased CM on progy. I've also noticed I needed a hair wash a day early! I've also been a sobbing mess at everything and nothing but for no discernable reason. Which is odd as normally it's the progesterone that gives me that!

OP posts:
LittleAm · 13/07/2023 08:39

@Olivia199 thank you! I hope you are making time to look after yourself :)
That’s interesting you’ve had the hair thing too! I’m usually a couple of hair washes a week person but thank goodness for hair bands! Is this your first time on Progynova?

IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/07/2023 08:58

This whole IVF thing is such a minefield, tested again today, and I only had a very faint (barely visible) line, but around the edges of the test were still pink too so maybe it wasn’t a good test? Was my first wee of the day as well so there was quite a lot of it and I had a little bit of blood too. Ugh, I’m so bummed out.

Olivia199 · 13/07/2023 09:06

@LittleAm - Thank you, I'm certainly trying! It's second time for me, my DD was via a FET in 2021. I can't really remember any side effects or anything though!
