FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@ASGIRC i did 😬, im not going to lie, I stared at it as it did it’s work and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that second line come up.

@Hopingforno2in2023 thanks so much! I was feeling so down about it all this time, so I tested not expecting to see anything as I really thought it had failed. I’m so happy.

ttcsolomumtobe · 12/07/2023 09:40

@IVFfirsttimer91 wow congratulations! I have used these tests before and they have always been stark white (never been pregnant), no sign of a evap or even a pinky smudge where the test line is! Wow that's so exciting, when was your OTD?

@Ellenn our periods do love to crop up at the worst time or delay when we are waiting on them, exciting that you get to start things going though!

SH998 · 12/07/2023 10:11

@IVFfirsttimer91 that is deffo not an evap line, massive congrats :)

IVFfirsttimer91 · 12/07/2023 10:16

Ahhh!! Thanks guys! I’m so excited!!! @ttcsolomumtobe My OTD is Saturday the 15th. I just couldn’t wait as I was sure it hadn’t taken. But couldn’t stop myself testing. I’m shocked, and I am just praying to everything out there that this one works out.

@SH998 thank you!! Im so excited and happy!

Olivia199 · 12/07/2023 11:00

@IVFfirsttimer91 - That's amazing!! Huge congratulations! I'm thrilled for you.. and that is definitely not anything close to an evap!

@Ellenn - Love that your lovely AF decided white dress was it's own personal entrance sign..!

Love the Christmas baby discussion. I'd be the same. I also didn't want a Christmas baby as I wanted two excuses to buy the next random thing for her and Christmas is expensive enough!

I do love the idea of a Sept and April birthday... got one so here's hoping for the other..!

I also haven't told many people. My brother and my parents know because they're supporting me with childcare etc. And others know I'm looking into it again. But I like the idea of hopefully getting to surprise people this time. Whereas last time everyone knew it was happening.

I did manage to pull a surprise off with mum last time as she had no idea that the TWW was shorter (test day is day 11) and even less idea that I was going to test 6 days earlier than that..! So that was quite nice.

@Olivia199 thanks so much! I’m so excited :)

Hi everyone - I’m still here lurking but think I’m a bit overwhelmed so not been replying much. Got everything crossed for everyones transfers and upcoming test dates!

I started meriofert Saturday, just had my first tracking scan and 6 follicles have responded. I’ve googled (obviously) and it’s looking like a pretty low number, so feeling a bit down about it all again. Anyone else had low numbers and it’s been okay? It really is an emotional rollercoaster isn’t it.
This is our first round and I’ve said all along I don’t expect it to work first time - but now I’m getting low numbers it’s a bit disappointing.

wtawtaw · 12/07/2023 12:28

@Bristol1988 hello! Are you at the BCRM? just going by your screen name. I too was on Meriofert this cycle. I wouldn't worry too much as it's only your first scan, did they seem concerned?
Also don't forget, it's quality over quantity sometimes 😊

Bristol1988 · 12/07/2023 12:32

@wtawtaw hiya, no we’re with LWC - everyone else I know that’s gone through this has used BCRM though! No they didn’t say they were concerned and have been too cold to carry on with same dose, have another scan Friday and likely collection next Wednesday. I guess I just thought I’d have more follicles, don’t really know why ha. I’m usually a very optimistic person but through this I’m constantly looking for something to go wrong!

Bristol1988 · 12/07/2023 12:32

@wtawtaw i keep repeating quality over quantity in my head 😂

wtawtaw · 12/07/2023 12:42

@Bristol1988 ah ok! I'm with BCRM. Try not to worry - easier said than done I know! Is this your first cycle? What's your AMH, AFC, age etc if you don't mind me asking?

Bristol1988 · 12/07/2023 12:48

@wtawtaw Yep first cycle. 33, I can’t remember my numbers but dr said all within normal range (I have a feeling low normal but still normal), we have male infertility which is why we’re doing ivf/ICSI.
Hows your journey been so far?

Lauralozzle · 12/07/2023 12:49

@IVFfirsttimer91 That definitely looks like a positive to me! Massive congratulations!

@Bristol1988 You could easily get a few more as you carry on. The amount of stories I read on here where there were 8 follicles noted on last scan and they come out with 12 eggs! Definitely as others have said, quality over quantity!

wtawtaw · 12/07/2023 12:55

@Bristol1988 ok well that's good that all within normal range. Fingers crossed they keep growing 😊

My first cycle was crap - 9 eggs collection which I was happy with, 7 fert but none made it to blasts - all bad quality.

My second cycle has been better so far. 17 eggs collected, 12 embryos, 9 blasts, one transferred two days ago and we have 6 in the freezer. In my tww now!

wtawtaw · 12/07/2023 12:56

@IVFfirsttimer91 congratulations!! 🤩

Bristol1988 · 12/07/2023 13:00

@Lauralozzle thanks, that does make me feel better. I can feel myself looking for the downside, setting myself up for a fail so I can brush it off. Annoying!

@wtawtaw amazing numbers! Fingers crossed for your test date. How are you feeling in yourself?

@IVFfirsttimer91 congrats on the positive! 😍

Trying22 · 12/07/2023 13:08

Just jumping in

congratulation @IVFfirsttimer91

@wtawtaw sending positive thoughts. Quick question regarding your first and second round, did you change protocol? I’m guessing your AMH and other levels are all good.

just finished my second egg collection- two blasts genetically “abnormal “ now back to square 1.

Bristol1988 · 12/07/2023 13:12

@Trying22 so sorry to hear that. How are you doing?

wtawtaw · 12/07/2023 13:15

@Trying22 I was on the short protocol first cycle and then second cycle was the long protocol. My AMH has gone down since my first cycle (from 15.8 to 11.7), I also took ubiquinol for at least 3 months between the first and second cycles! No alcohol the whole time after firs cycle too.

Ahh no, are you going for a second cycle? I would love to be able to test the blasts we got but so much money 🤯

Trying22 · 12/07/2023 13:17

@Bristol1988 in doing surprisingly well, thanks for asking. I guess after years of battling with infertility, you try to take 1 step at a time - hoping for the best.

got a follow up appointment next week and will take it from there. i have x2 more eggs collections left in my package, so depending on the dr advice, I will see where next.

Trying22 · 12/07/2023 13:22

@wtawtaw wow what a great result!

I do regret testing now - especially since learning more about this practice to be fair!

Next round, my third, likely to be next month - depending on dr’s advice.

Bristol1988 · 12/07/2023 13:24

@Trying22 glad you’re okay, its all so 🤯

How come you regret testing, if you don’t mind me asking? I don’t know much about the procedure. If you hadn’t have tested would they have gone ahead with the transfer?

Trying22 · 12/07/2023 13:33

@Bristol1988 i think mainly because after looking more into it, many experts in the field can’t seem to agree on its significance. Many have even argued that embryos have a unique ability to ‘self-correct, as it were. I guess I’m not an expert- but given my age 32 where my eggs are statistically supposed to me mainly “normal “ i am a little confused.

I say this to say, should I have opted not to test and transferred an embryo, could it have actually worked and could have self-corrected if it was indeed “abnormal’ who knows.

I guess this is so complex- but I remain optimistic.
