FET/IVF/ICSI July 2023

Hello!

Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone was going ahead with a transfer in July.

I've just had my nurse consult and hoping to have my second FET in July (my first was successful in Jan 2021 and I had my wonderful DD).

The first time around I was of course beyond nervous, excited, terrified it wouldn't work etc. This time it feels like that's doubled! I'm a private patient so I've saved everything for this but should it fail, it'll be a long long time before I could afford to try again.

To add some nerves, I'd need to be cycle day one no later than the 6th July to go ahead, as my clinic is moving locations. I'm currently due on the 5th...! So every chance it's moved to a Sept cycle.

Would be nice to have some company!

:)

@IVFfirsttimer91 - Oh I'm sorry. It really is so so stressful. Have you used a FRER yet? I'd perhaps try those or leave it a day. Was your wee really concentrated? Try not to worry about the blood, I had so much throughout my first trimester! (Unless it's blood in your wee in which case get yourself to the GP!)

@Olivia199 how lovely! I can’t really remember either even though it was recent! Maybe blocked it out! I just turned 40 and we have no children yet so I’m starting to panic!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/07/2023 09:48

@Olivia199 what is a FRER? I’m quite stressed about the whole thing, though the only thing that is giving me some hope is that there was still a line, and it was a ginormous wee that I did, so maybe it was just too diluted? Also the pink dye in the viewing window is still all around the edges of the test so maybe it’s not a great quality test. Grasping at straws right now lol.

Olivia199 · 13/07/2023 10:04

@LittleAm - Can absolutely understand how you're feeling but I've seen countless people starting their journey here. You've got this!

Yeah I do think a part of it is blocked out. Brain decides we've no need to remember that!

@IVFfirsttimer91 - I can absolutely understand your fear but please try not to worry too much yet. My first test was positive in the evening and then the following morning was negative. I only really got my positives with evening wee. It could be any of those things causing the issue.

FRER- First Reponse Early Result. They're expensive but the most sensitive tests around.

Remind me your DPT?

@Olivia199 my test date is Saturday 15th, so I think I’m just going to wait until then now. Whatever is going to be will be. Hopefully it will be a stronger result then 🤞

Lauralozzle · 13/07/2023 10:20

@IVFfirsttimer91 I have everything crossed for you. Hopefully it’s just a dodgy test.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/07/2023 11:29

@Lauralozzle thanks so much! I hope so too!

Olivia199 · 13/07/2023 12:05

@IVFfirsttimer91 - That sounds like a good idea. Got everything crossed for you lovely. X

@Olivia199 Yeah, the ones I have only say orally or vaginally, and my doctor said to take them vaginally.

Also, theres zero chance of me being able to lay down for 20 minutes after inserting. So thats that. Ill wear a pad and hope for the best!

Also, the dosage seems to be really high... 400x3 per day! But shes the doctor and shell know whats what. And I dont think its a typo, as she said 400 (2x pills) morning, afternoon and night.

@SH998 good luck for the transfer!! How exciting!!

Caroline2023 · 13/07/2023 14:41

Hi all, just trying to catch up on messages as I’ve missed a lot!

@21C welcome and good luck with egg collection!

@IVFfirsttimer91 what a stressful time for you. I have everything crossed for you xx

@ASGIRC what a stressful day! Glad it’s sorted now

ttcsolomumtobe · 13/07/2023 16:14

Hey all just been catching up on the last couple of days.

Wow @ASGIRC what a crazy evening, that would have honestly driven me to dispair!

@IVFfirsttimer91 I hope you are feeling okay, it must be so hard when comparing test, I'm terrible for drinking water in the night so my morning pee is usually very light and diluted. OTD will hopefully bring more.

Re FRER I have searched boots and superdrug high and low today for some, there defo seems a shortage as on eBay they are much more than I paid last time. Signed up for prime trial to get free delivery on a pack

Olivia199 · 14/07/2023 10:37

@ASGIRC - Oh yeah, better get those pads! What are you on? I've got utrogest and I'm doing one 200mg three times a day.
Small one was well enough for nursery having done a complete 180 so I've just had my last very hot bath for a while!

I can't lay down for the 20 minutes either really. So you just sort of suck it in.

@Olivia199 thank you! Just on way home was in at 7.30 this morning early start. Feeling crampy and a bit tender but ok overall. Got more eggs than expected - 20! But also means we are now having to freeze which I wasn’t prepared for but understand the reasons around it. Such a strange feeling as just want it all to happen quicker but understand why we have to do this.

also for anyone with male factor like we are (poor motility/non progressive) my husband has been on the supplement Impryl for the past 3 months and cut out hot baths and they let us know today that motility has went from 3% to 34%! We are so happy. The embryologist also said she can see good progressive sperm.

now for the scary wait to hear about mature eggs and fertilisation!

hope everyone else is doing ok x

wtawtaw · 14/07/2023 11:47

@21C wow! Great number for you and your husband! All the best of luck for developing embryos 🤞🏻is this your first round?

21C · 14/07/2023 11:52

@wtawtaw thanks! we definitely feel positive about it.

no it’s our 2nd round. First round in March we had ICSI, 15 eggs retrieved, 13 mature but we were only left with 1 embryo on day 3 which we decided to transfer but didn’t stick. They said poor sperm quality so husband cut out all caffeine, no hot baths and taking impryl religiously and I added coq10 to the vit D and folic acid I was already taking so really hoping this round is different and more positive!

Olivia199 · 14/07/2023 12:16

@21C - Wow that's amazing! I'm so pleased for you. I had to freeze all too and honestly at the time I was a bit heartbroken! But when it came to my frozen transfer 6 weeks later, it felt like the best possible outcome.

So many people said that to me at the time and I honestly still hated it. Hope you have something nice planned in the coming days!

OP posts:
21C · 14/07/2023 12:30

@Olivia199 yeah I totally get that, I was a bit upset this morning when they said it would be a freeze - as much as you try not to get ahead of yourself and think ‘I could transfer on this date and be pregnant by this date’ you can’t help it then suddenly that all gets pushed back! Trying to just stay positive and hope for the best with the next few days news.

Im going to bed for the rest of the afternoon watch some rubbish tv - really need to try and distract myself now!

ASGIRC · 14/07/2023 13:07

@Olivia199 Good news about the little one!!! Hope she keeps improving!!1

I will be taking progeffik. 2x200mg 3 x a day! Seems like a lot!!

Also, just got confirmation that my transfer is on Wednesday at 10.30am!

@21C yay!! thats a lot of eggs!!! Congrats! Hopefully youll get loads of embryos!

Olivia199 · 14/07/2023 14:46

@21C - Totally get what you mean. I had countdowns on my phone to transfer day and official test day etc. I absolutely got ahead of myself and it was hard having it all changed. Especially when 6 weeks feels like forever at the time. Bed with some good TV sounds excellent. Hope you have some amazing news soon! What days do your clinic give updates?

OP posts:
Olivia199 · 14/07/2023 14:47

@ASGIRC - Thank you!! Oh my goodness amazing! You'll be a good 27 hours ahead of me. It's all getting real now. I start progesterone tomorrow night.

OP posts:
ASGIRC · 14/07/2023 14:51

@Olivia199 I start tonight! Not looking forward to it and the possible mess it might make!
The only time I used pessaries was the canesten ones, and they were massive, so its possibly not going to be that bad, but still!! 😂😂

Its very real now! Im not sure Im ready for this! 😬😬

Olivia199 · 14/07/2023 15:31

The Utrogest ones are pretty massive and look like a normal tablet. I'll admit it's my least favourite part.

Last time I was counting the days until I could stop them at 11 weeks... only to get there and immediately panic because by that time it felt like they were what was keeping the pregnancy going. Of course, they know what they're doing and the placenta had long since taken over, but I grew oddly attached to them.

I forgot one once at work. Had the mother of all meltdowns and called the clinics emergency number who were beyond unfussed!
