Create Fertility - Experiences

Sunflower360 · 13/05/2023 07:41

Hi 👋

I was hoping for people's experiences and thoughts on Create Fertility? I am considering them, so any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I am currently going through a short protocol with high stims with another clinic, baseline scan showed 4-5 follicles (expected that as I have low AMH/low ovarian reserves) but through my high stimulation am only showing 1, maybe 2 follicles that are growing...so cycle is not looking great.

So I wanted to consider Create as they specialise in natural modified and mild IVF, but would appreciate feedback on people's experiences as we would be going in multi cycle with my low AFC/AMH and want to ensure it's the best decision in those circumstances.

Thanks!

Duplicate post!

GirlAgirlBboyC · 16/10/2023 11:07

My journey has stopped before it even started. Went for scan and bloods on Friday and got a call end of the day to say we should cancel and discuss a different option such as natural modified. No more info than that and pretty dispiriting. Feel like my body has failed at the first hurdle

Sunflower360 · 16/10/2023 11:35

@GirlAgirlBboyC really sorry to hear that. Did they not cover that in your consultation? If you don't mind me asking what is your AMH as that can indicate why they offered a certain protocol? It is odd why they didn't suggest it at the start though...ask them plenty of questions, I'm forever doing that!

@Sunflower360 AMH 5.4 and AFC 6-7, apparently commensurate with my age. Seems I hadn't responded enough and also my FSH was too high, but i only spoke to the nurse late Friday so no more details than that.

I don't feel like I've had much opportunity to ask lots of questions to be quite honest, the first doctor and then nurse consultations were pretty brief.

GirlAgirlBboyC · 16/10/2023 12:11

And yes I am older and yes I wish I'd got going on IVF earlier (thanks Covid) but they've not found any obvious issue so far except my age and yet nothing has ever happened while trying naturally over the past few years, so it makes me feel there maybe is something else. I hate just being "unexplained"

Sunflower360 · 16/10/2023 12:21

@GirlAgirlBboyC I understand they suggest mild where AMH is over 5 but some people have had it where it is below. It can vary so much on Drs I find, our consultation was quite detailed as was the nurse consultation so I hope you get the chance to ask questions as it helps with understanding the process. Hope you manage to get some insight soon.

Natural modified can be better as it aims at catching the dominant follicle, but realistic expectation is 1-3 embryos over 3 cycles, that's the expectation we went in with

Sorry @GirlAgirlBboyC I know how frustrating it is when you’re desperate to get started. Perhaps your FSH was higher than at your initial consultation? This would indicate your body wouldn’t respond well to higher meds since it’s already trying so hard on its own. You should get a follow up call with the doctor to discuss in more detail.

@Sunflower360 good that you have at least one progressing well, fingers crossed for the next few days. So hard to know, I felt like this cycle went better than my first, but results say otherwise.

I’ve mentally written this cycle off now (I hope I have anyway, so I’m not in tears on the train tomorrow!) and really just want to get the 3rd over and done with. If I only end up with my one day 3 will transfer that one, but I don’t think I’ll do any more cycles.

Doxy21 · 16/10/2023 14:14

@HopefulElle sounds like we might be in similar positions - 1 day 3 by the end of round 2. I hope round 3 goes better for us both but I won’t be doing more after this

@GirlAgirlBboyC im really sorry to hear this. I hope you manage to get some answers and a clear plan asap

HopefulElle · 16/10/2023 17:11

@Doxy21 yep, and even though I was
made fully aware of this possibility from the outset, it just really bloody sucks doesn’t it?

Doxy21 · 16/10/2023 18:43

@HopefulElle 100% - you hope you’re the 10% or whatever it works for. But at least we gave it our best shot.

Sunflower360 · 17/10/2023 07:43

@HopefulElle hope your update goes ok and @GirlAgirlBboyC hope you get some next steps soon @Doxy21 did you hear back about your follow up for cycle 3?

Hi there everyone, hope it's okay to join this thread at this stage. I realised yesterday after a cancelled cycle that it would be really helpful to have a little support group!

Will catch up on this thread but a little of our background, we just started our first cycle couple of weeks ago but unfortunately it was cancelled yesterday after I ovulated (even though I was on 2 x cetrotide a day!). I had scans Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and all showed LH rising so I am a bit disappointed this wasn't picked up earlier.

We're doing 3 cycle IVF/ICSI, started with a mild cycle (even though I have AMH 1.1), perhaps they will change to natural modified next time I'm not too sure yet. Also need to learn all the lingo haha.

Hope to chat to you all soon and to see some positive updates here :)

Sunflower360 · 17/10/2023 12:52

Hi @gemso2020 👋 Welcome! Sorry to hear about your cycle, that is really odd that cetrotide did not work... have they tried to explain why that may have happened?

Regarding protocols I've been on natural modified and have just completed 2 of 3 cycles. My AMH was 4.3 pmol from the summer. I was I've consistently been advised by Create that they suggest natural modified where AMH is below 5, but people have been having mild with lower AMH so it's not unusual.

Hope you manage to get some clarity on next steps soon

Doxy21 · 17/10/2023 13:04

Hi @gemso2020 sorry to hear that. Can I ask what your afc is? I have higher AMH than you but they won’t let me do mild. I’m doing 3 rounds too. For my second round I had tamoxifen which apparently does the same job as cetrotide but you take it from the beginning and you can still supplement with cetrotide later if needed so I wonder if they will suggest that.

gemso2020 · 17/10/2023 13:57

Thanks @Sunflower360 I haven't had an explanation yet, but I know they are going to do a mdt meeting and then I'll have a consultation next week to go over what happened. I was taking 2 x 0.25mg daily so I'm really confused.

@Doxy21 It looked like I was going to have three follicles to collect from before ovulation, I was also surprised we are doing mild, on our first consultation we were advised natural modified and then the doctor seemed to backtrack and said he had suggested mild. I haven't heard of tamoxifen, will have a read about that now!

What have been your experiences with waiting between cycles? Obviously keen to continue asap but is it always best to wait one cycle? I turn 40 next year, so very aware that every month counts!

Doxy21 · 17/10/2023 13:59

@gemso2020 No - we went straight in on the next cycle. I think most people do :) I think a lot of us are in the same boat - around the 40 mark so keen to not delay if possible

gemso2020 · 17/10/2023 14:32

Thanks @Doxy21 , that's good to know. Just looked at the calendar and remembered that my clinic is closed for a couple of weeks in December anyway (not sure if that's all Create clinics?), so may just try and resume end of November.

Sunflower360 · 17/10/2023 16:08

@gemso2020 same at our clinic too, got told any cycles would need to start befote Dec or it would be January. You may just want to check if they'll be ok with you starting straight away as with mild you normally need 1 month break, natural modified you can do back to back due to the lower stimulation

OP posts:
HopefulElle · 17/10/2023 16:20

Hi @gemso2020, sorry to hear about your cycle, that almost happened on my first cycle but caught just in time. Hope they’re able to reassure you with adjustments for next try.

My update today was just as expected. They’re going to keep an eye on it for one more day, but doesn’t appear to have grown much if at all since day 3, so stressed it was extremely unlikely there’ll be a turnaround now, and will almost certainly be discarded tomorrow.
I’m glad my day 3 update had prepared me for that as feel like I’ve done my “grieving” already, and was fine heading into a meeting 2 mins after the call.
Still bloody sucks though. Here’s hoping there’s a better outcome for cycle 3 - and that I don’t have any more cancelled cycles to get there…🤞🏼

Madzi31 · 17/10/2023 22:58

Welcome @gemso2020!
Sorry to hear about your cycle but hope you get an opportunity to ask questions and get an explanation.

Sunflower360 · 18/10/2023 08:01

Sorry to hear that @HopefulElle I know what you mean about the day 3 update, it kind of preps you for what may come on day 5. Have some time to focus on you and hope planning for your 3rd transfer cycle goes ok

OP posts:
HopefulElle · 18/10/2023 08:36

Good luck with your update today @Sunflower360

Sunflower360 · 18/10/2023 09:11

Thanks @HopefulElle got the update. 1 is frozen as day 5 thankfully. The other one hasn't formed a blastocyst but they'll monitor for another day....would imagine it's a right off. Just glad that one pulled through

Hi all - I attended Create's webinar yesterday and they talked quite a bit on their Doppler ultrasound scan with blood flow monitoring. Is this as great as they make it out to be or is this a standard thing with the private clinics? 😅

bloss0mx · 18/10/2023 09:25

Great news @Sunflower360 x
