Create Fertility - Experiences

1000 replies

Sunflower360 · 13/05/2023 07:41

Hi 👋

I was hoping for people's experiences and thoughts on Create Fertility? I am considering them, so any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I am currently going through a short protocol with high stims with another clinic, baseline scan showed 4-5 follicles (expected that as I have low AMH/low ovarian reserves) but through my high stimulation am only showing 1, maybe 2 follicles that are growing...so cycle is not looking great.

So I wanted to consider Create as they specialise in natural modified and mild IVF, but would appreciate feedback on people's experiences as we would be going in multi cycle with my low AFC/AMH and want to ensure it's the best decision in those circumstances.

Thanks!

That's good news @Doxy21 fingers crossed for your day 1 update!

Thank you. I’m hoping for no call today. If there’s a call today it means neither were mature which surely would be silly as they timed the collection etc

HopefulElle · 06/10/2023 12:01

Good luck @Doxy21 & @Woodcottage1! @Jx3303 really sorry to hear about your cycle, but at least you won’t have the what ifs as you say. Hope you’re doing ok. Do you know when you’ll be doing a transfer or are you having a bit of a break?
@Sunflower360 same here, starting Cetrotide tonight. Currently have 1 lead follicle, 2 a couple of mm smaller and one tiny. Really hoping the smaller 2 catch up! Looking like collection mid next week for me too x

Sunflower360 · 06/10/2023 12:15

That's good news @HopefulElle do you coulf possibly end up with 3 eggs perhaps?

OP posts:
HopefulElle · 06/10/2023 13:26

@Sunflower360 possibly.. just depends as last time my lead grew really quickly in these few days and they didn’t want to risk waiting any longer for the smaller one. I think that’s why they’ve started me on Cetrotide slightly earlier this cycle.

HopefulElle · 06/10/2023 16:40

Also, anyone else find the Cetrotide jabs really tricky?! Wish it was just a pen like GonalF.

Sunflower360 · 06/10/2023 17:26

Yeah @HopefulElle don't like the Cetrotide ones, prefer Fyremadel which was pre filled (had that in my NHS cycle in the spring). Had the nurse help me with it this morning, flying solo with it again tomorrow morning 😅

@Sunflower360 @HopefulElle i actually found the video instructions useful. Most of the time they aren’t but for cetrotide the video was good.

im spiralling now. Has anyone had eggs that didn’t fertilise? They said if I didn’t hear from then today (I didn’t) then at least one egg was mature (I’m now worried one might not have been) but now in like, what if they call tomorrow and say no fertilisation?! (It hasn’t happened to me before but then last round was also a first for me with there being no egg!)

Sunflower360 · 06/10/2023 20:55

@Doxy21 I did in my NHS cycle before Create. 2 mature eggs failed to fertilise (they were able to let me know that one failed completely and the other one abnormally fertilised). That was standard IVF after which ICSI was advised and what we had with our first Create cycle.

If you have not heard anything, then it sounds positive that they will be mature eggs-hope the call goes well. Would suggest having a list of questions ready so you can make the most of the call

Doxy21 · 06/10/2023 21:00

Thanks @Sunflower360 - I’m not sure what ask?! I know they’ll call tomorrow to let me know if any fertilised and freeze one day 3 if looking good and let the other go to day5/6 (if we do have 2 mature and both fertilise). We are doing ICSI so 🤞🏽

HopefulElle · 06/10/2023 21:16

@Doxy21 I really feel like they should to call to update either way? With mine they said they would definitely call first thing, and did. Waiting for updates is horrible, so I’m sorry they’re keeping you waiting longer. However if they said they’d only call if no fertilisation, then I’m sure no news is good news.
Hope you get double good news in the morning x

P.S I did find the video good, but still convinced myself I’d injected an air bubble. Anyhow, I survived.

Sunflower360 · 06/10/2023 21:20

Well, worse case if they were to say failed fertilisation (hopefully that does not happen), perhaps ask at what stage did they get to. I found out the abnormal fertilisation was established as the egg had 3PN (Pronuclei) which indicates 2 sperm entered the egg (this would perhaps indicate the egg was not good maybe), this was useful to know as it showed there was sperm binding but unfortunately 'bad luck' on the day in terms of successful fertilisation. With ICSI though you will have the best shot possible for fertilisation so hopefully you'll be ok and they'll fertilise fine, fingers crossed

Doxy21 · 06/10/2023 21:23

Hi @HopefulElle sorry I didn’t make sense. They said they would call me today only if neither of the eggs were mature. As there was no call I’m fine to assume at least 1 was mature. Tomorrow they will call and let me know if any fertilised - so they will call me either way. I’m positive that there’s 2 mature and both fertilised but it’s the hope that kills you so I’m trying to figure what the likelihood is that tomorrow I get a game over call. I feel like that would be extremely bad luck after my last round as the follicles this time were both good size, both had eggs and the sperm sample for ICSI was good. But I know there’s a chance and I can’t go on the fact that I’ve always had fertilisation and embryos before.

Doxy21 · 06/10/2023 21:24

@Sunflower360 I’m sorry you had that experience- i really wonder why they don’t just do ICSI as standard everywhere? Is it because there’s a danger they don’t pick the right sperm? I’m not sure how it works

HopefulElle · 06/10/2023 21:29

@Doxy21 ah got you - I’m exhausted this week so probably read it wrong. That would be extremely bad luck and I’m sure chances of that are low, but really all you can do is try to get to sleep as soon as possible so that tomorrow comes sooner! Easier said than done I know. Good luck with the call.
Good idea from @Sunflower360 to write down Qs in advance, I always have a racing heart and a blank mind when I pick up the phone.

Sunflower360 · 06/10/2023 21:32

@Doxy21 I got advised as ICSI carries a slight risk of damage to the egg they only do ICSI where the sperm sample indicates its needed or where standard IVF failed previously (which the latter was our case). I found one of my eggs degenerated due to ICSI in last Create cycle so it can happen but luckily the other 3 got through that stage, the risk is slight but in all honesty having ICSI outweighs the risk (there are risks with most medical procedures etc so its an individual choice in all honesty)

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 06/10/2023 21:37

@Doxy21 also if they can, they prefer 'natural selection ' to take place where the 'strongest' sperm wins so to speak. Didn't work in my case first time round but in all honesty part of me wonders if the 2 eggs were damaged from the high stimulation cycle I had...either way I would rather stick with ICSI, feel better about knowing the best looking sperm is being selected and being put in-the rest is then up to the sperm and egg. Avoids 2 sperm getting in too which occured with us!

Sunflower360 · 06/10/2023 21:39

@HopefulElle in relation to cetrotide... nurse mentioned to me about not worrying about tiny air bubbles as its going into a fatty part of the skin not a vein, but she did just say if there was large bubbles that you can just push those out with the syringe and to not worry about a couple of drops coming out. I much prefer the pre filled ones to be honest!

Sunflower360 · 07/10/2023 09:49

@Doxy21 hope your update goes ok today

OP posts:
Doxy21 · 07/10/2023 10:04

Thanks @Sunflower360 when do they usually call?

Sunflower360 · 07/10/2023 10:10

@Doxy21 can be anytime between 8am-12pm, mine were usually by 10.30am but then my egg collection was really early so think they update on line with that. So hopefully you'll hear soon if you haven't already

OP posts:
Doxy21 · 07/10/2023 10:16

My collection was at 9am. I’m worried that it’s all gone to pot hence putting off the call/finding a consultant to call me. This does nothing for my anxiety haha. Mostly want the call so I can then pop out with the dogs for a quick walk before I go out for lunch. I just want to get on with my day

Jx3303 · 07/10/2023 10:33

@Doxy21 I really hope you get your update call soon and it's good news! Totally understand the anxiety - I was getting myself in a right worry and my calls were all at such different times too which had me second guessing if it was bad news or good news xx

Doxy21 · 07/10/2023 10:42

Thanks both. Both eggs were mature and suitable for ICSI but only one fertilised. If it makes it to Monday, it will be frozen then. I’m back to feeling like a baby isn’t going to happen for us 🙄

Sunflower360 · 07/10/2023 10:43

@Doxy21 that's good news that you have one in the running, hopefully you can freeze that and it's one banked. Were the able to give any information on the one that did not fertilise?
