Hi all, started this yesterday on conception and got no responses, but think maybe I put it in the wrong place. Anyway, final attempt! Wondered if anyone would be interested in a thread for those preparing for a FET cycle in the coming couple of months.

I closed my first round of IVF yesterday, no fresh transfer as my body went a bit nuts despite mild protocol, so looking to prepare as best I can for a frostie transfer in June or July!

Big hugs to everyone going through/who has gone through IVF at whichever stage you're in, I found it super tough and frankly think we're all incredible. X

@Wish1 haha yep! Have you found them helpful?

Wish1 · 09/06/2023 10:42

@KG1244 I haven’t tried any of them.
Im quite happy with a spa day/massage.
Might pluck up the courage one day to go for acupuncture but cupping is too much for me. 😭

Hi All, hope you don't mind me dropping in I just wanted to ask if anyone on a medicated FET had only tablets to take?

I have my scan to check lining on Monday following estrogen tablets that I started on my day 1. At that scan they said they'll be able to say when transfer will be and when to start with progesterone pessaries. Not sure on the timescale for it but is it usually 5 days after ovulation?

I havent been told to test for ovulation or anything! It does say I may have to have blood tests done but it's not really clear lol and I'm trying to work out days in my head 😅 from when I tested ovulation preciously, it's always been quite late in my cycle - waaaay after I get any fertile symptoms lol

So for mine, its take the tablets until a scan on day 11-13, then if my lining is okay start pesseries and have at least 5 days on them (sometimes longer as they only do transfers on Thursday and Tuesday). If the lining isn't okay it may be that I go back a week later for another scan, having continued with just tablets in that time.
If I have a follicle they'll try and see if I've ovulated. If they suspect I have then they'll do a blood test to confirm and if that's the case they cancel due to less chance of success.

Hope that helps!

Lyrabee · 09/06/2023 16:50

@Olivia199 yes that helps!

I only considered this morning that they might cancel the cycle so I got a bit worried.

My scan is on day 12 and I believe they will say to start the pessaries that day

Thank you!

On my last FET, day 12 was when I started mine too! Good luck!

Lyrabee · 10/06/2023 10:55

Thanks @Olivia199 I appreciate that!

10degreessunny · 10/06/2023 14:02

Hey @Olivia199 that sounds like a really positive pregnancy. I am due to start hopefully end of July & will be induced bleed and medicated FET, so enjoying some time off with small amounts of Pimm's/rose (it is a heat wave after all!). Are you doing anything to prepare for it?
@Wish1 I have been doing accupuncture and really found it very good for relaxation, you go in to trance. I also like it's something I am doing to try and be control of this situation. She's also like a therapist for me haha.
@Lyrabee sorry I don't know much about this but the Dr has prescribed me oestrogen patches, and then injections to stop me ovulating then once lining is thick enough I have the patches and progesterone.. I haven't started this yet so will get my head round it when the time comes!
X

Lyrabee · 10/06/2023 14:04

@10degreessunny thanks! I think it's that I havent been given anything to stop ovulation that worries me!

10degreessunny · 10/06/2023 14:08

@Lyrabee I'm sure there is a valid reason but would ask the professionals, gets confusing with Mumsnet as we all have these different plans. X

Lyrabee · 10/06/2023 14:11

@10degreessunny absolutely! They told me it all depends on my scan so I'll have more info on Monday :)

Wish1 · 10/06/2023 16:23

@10degreessunny Thank you!
Ive found a clinic and might just give it a go.
hoping everything goes well for you, July will come by so quick. Xx

Olivia199 · 10/06/2023 16:52

@110degreessunny - That sounds like the perfect way to prepare. I'm doing very much the same. I'll be waiting for my bleed to start before doing a medicated round too. Hoping very much it comes in time for July!

Crystals10 · 12/06/2023 00:28

Hi @Lyrabee

I am on a long course for my FET. Start buserlin on Wed to take until end of the month, then increase my dosage and start taking tablets up to my lining scan which is 12 days after and then carry on with meds until transfer which is aimed for mid July!!

I have also not been asked to check ovulation and no blood tests in between. I may ask my nurse but every time when I question something she just says to follow my calendar protocol.

will you be transferring this month? Or next x

Lyrabee · 12/06/2023 09:10

Hi @Crystals10 !

I'm not taking buserelin so slightly different but I've just had my scan, lining at 12.6mm so I'm good to go!

I need to keep taking my estrogen and on Wednesday I start the progesterone pessaries twice a day. Blood test on Saturday and I have my transfer booked for next Monday :)

I dont have to test for ovulation as the cycle is medicated. Only thing they really checked for at the scan was the lining thickness and if I had developed any cysts.

Crystals10 · 12/06/2023 09:39

@Lyrabee wow that’s an amazing thickness! 😄 I wish I was given an injection free protocol, I am not looking forward to taking these as I have heard they are painful than the others.

fingers and everything crossed for you on your transfer day! Not long to go x

Lyrabee · 12/06/2023 10:23

@Crystals10 aww thank you!
I've not heard much about buserelin but it sounds like ice on the area beforehand is your friend with them. You can do it, I'm sure after the first one you will feel more confident, let us know how you get on!

10degreessunny · 27/06/2023 09:45

Hi everyone, how are you all doing? @CaribbeanCupcake how's the pregnancy going?

tara17x · 28/06/2023 11:26

Hi everyone hope you’re all well.
you may have seen my name earlier up the thread, I had my first FET a couple months ago which unfortunately ended in PUL and miscarried.
I’m now preparing for my second FET, started all the meds on Saturday. I feel like I’m being drugged up to my eyeballs the amount of stuff I’m on 🤣. Have my first scan this Friday to check lining which is always on the thin side (7mm is the thickest it got to last round).
they’ve advised we add in steroids and also an intralipid infusion this time - does anyone know anything about this protocol? I’m unsure as limited evidence on it.

congrats @CaribbeanCupcake let us know how you’re getting on

xx

KG1244 · 28/06/2023 14:50

@tara17x oh I’m sorry to hear that. Sorry to ask but what does PUL stand for? Lots of luck for your scan on Friday. I’ve been on natural FET so afraid I can’t advise on your questions but I’m sure someone will know xx

tara17x · 28/06/2023 15:54

@KG1244 thank you, sorry pregnancy of unknown location, basically when it can’t be found on the scan but my levels were still rising. It looked like ectopic but thankfully resolved itself in the end by miscarrying xx

KG1244 · 28/06/2023 17:12

@tara17x oh I’m sorry. That must have been hard. Sending you positive vibes for this round ❤️

CaribbeanCupcake · 28/06/2023 17:56

Hi @tara17x I remember you, wishing you the best of luck for this transfer- keeping everything crossed for you xx

I'm doing good thank you, had my 8 week scan last week; was so emotional seeing the little heart beating away. All is well but nausea has been kicking my ass the last 3 days so feeling a bit sorry for myself 🤢 obvs not complaining as know I'm so lucky to be here but wow... it's grim 🤣

How's everyone else doing? @10degreessunny

10degreessunny · 28/06/2023 22:08

Hi guys,

@tara17x so sorry to hear about your recent experience but pleased you have a plan to move forward and it's started already. How long did you have to wait to do the second round? I imagine the drugs are intense but it is good they're doing things differently which hopefully results in a positive result.

@KG1244 how are you getting on? I'm jealous you get to do a natural cycle, that must be so much better for your body!

@CaribbeanCupcake I'm so pleased to hear everything is going well your side, really gives us all hope!

I had the EC end of may, and they won't start me on the FET drugs till mid July (I don't have regular periods so will be given provera to start the bleed). The wait to start is annoying wish there was more I could do to get myself prepped to start this next cycle. X

tara17x · 29/06/2023 10:44

@10degreessunny I miscarried 5 weeks ago so not long at all, it went really quick and I had a little holiday in between to recharge and relax before the next one.
also gave me some breathing space to just enjoy myself for a month.
I was given provera for the last one which worked well xx
