Hi all, started this yesterday on conception and got no responses, but think maybe I put it in the wrong place. Anyway, final attempt! Wondered if anyone would be interested in a thread for those preparing for a FET cycle in the coming couple of months.

I closed my first round of IVF yesterday, no fresh transfer as my body went a bit nuts despite mild protocol, so looking to prepare as best I can for a frostie transfer in June or July!

Big hugs to everyone going through/who has gone through IVF at whichever stage you're in, I found it super tough and frankly think we're all incredible. X

@CaribbeanCupcake how are you feeling? Yes I think so, they said if it’s been more than four weeks to call them and then they can give me something to induce it but I don’t know if that’s a bad idea if I’m doing the natural route for FET…

CaribbeanCupcake · 30/05/2023 13:53

@KG1244 I feel fine- no symptoms AT ALL which really surprised me as I was expecting to feel something at least! I took another test this morning as convinced myself yesterday that one was faulty, but it came up just as strong as the first. So now I've convinced myself it's a faulty batch and been out and bought some different brand 🙈 I'm gonna stop after these otherwise I will go mad but I think I'm still in shock right now lol.
Yeah I get what you mean about inducing it. Worth having a chat with the clinic as I'm sure if it wasn't wise they wouldn't allow it x

KG1244 · 30/05/2023 14:28

@CaribbeanCupcake thank you, good advice. I can imagine! When do you next see the clinic?

CaribbeanCupcake · 30/05/2023 15:17

My first scan is 22nd June which feels like sooooo long away. I did the other test which was a clearblue digital and it came up Pregnant 1-2 weeks so I'm gonna stop now and try to relax!

10degreessunny · 30/05/2023 16:57

@CaribbeanCupcake haha you have gone from being so good and not testing to otd to now using all the tests haha. June does seem like ages away, how many weeks will that be? Are you private or NHS?

CaribbeanCupcake · 30/05/2023 17:57

@10degreessunny haha I know I need to chill my beans! No more testing! I'll be between 7-8 weeks when I have my scan. I'm NHS funded but in a private clinic. How about you?

10degreessunny · 31/05/2023 09:23

@KG1244 sorry to hear this waiting is ongoing. Have you considered doing a medicated cycle?
@CaribbeanCupcake that's exciting! I'm private but now have an 8 week wait till can start cycle which is annoying!
X

KG1244 · 31/05/2023 09:44

@10degreessunny i’ve been told by my clinic that they want to do a natural cycle first. I also think this is probably a better idea as I think all the meds from egg collection gave me a polyp! What’s happening on your side at the moment? Hope you’re doing ok x

CaribbeanCupcake · 31/05/2023 10:06

@10degreessunny oh really? How come you have to wait 8 weeks? X

Crystals10 · 31/05/2023 17:20

Hi,

I am new here. I will be starting my FET in June/July and was wondering whether anyone has been taking any supplements to prep for theirs? I was thinking of getting FET package from Zita West but not sure if it’s worth it or try something else.

thanks x

KG1244 · 31/05/2023 21:00

@Crystals10 welcome! I’ve just been taking pregnacare which is suitable for ttc. When I’ve spoken to the nurses before, they just said it’s important to take a folic acid supplement. Hope that’s helps!

KG1244 · 03/06/2023 16:36

My period has arrived 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 55 days later 😂

10degreessunny · 05/06/2023 11:05

Hi guys, sorry been away so catching up.
@KG1244 horray! That's exciting, let the fun begin!
@Crystals10 nice to meet you, I have been taking pregnacare supplements too and vit d + some inositol but I have PCOS.
@CaribbeanCupcake it seems to be my clinic, they want me to start on my 3rd bleed to make sure my body has fully recovered from EC, going to see if I can bring forward as I didn't suffer from OHSS in the end. How are things going for you? X

Olivia199 · 07/06/2023 21:11

Hi everyone! Wondered if I could join in here. I've just had my nurse consultation and hopefully going ahead with a FET on my July cycle. They offered me this cycle as I'm day 1 but it all felt too soon and with no prep time or a second to think, I declined. The clinic is moving locations and therefore shutting in August so in order to go ahead I'd have to start my period by the 6th. At present I'm due on on the 5th. So could be a delay.
However, meds ordered and hopefully going ahead soon enough!

This is my second FET following a successful one in Jan 2021 which resulted in my wonderful daughter.

Wish1 · 08/06/2023 01:24

Hi everyone
Hope you don't mind me joining too.
Read all your lovely messages on here and they are so informative and reassuring-thank you.
I'm 32, had first consultation for IVF and now awaiting information session.
EC likely within next 2 months 🤞🏻
Sadly life threw another curveball and they've found a polyp on my cervix so waiting for a physical examination to determine whether it can be removed on day or through surgery, the latter means EC will be very delayed as the waiting time on NHS is so long for surgery.
If surgery is needed I'm going to do this privately to reduce wait times for EC.
@tara17x I think I read you also had a polyp removed- was this painful and how was your recovery? (If you don't mind answering of course)
Wishing you all luck.
🫶

KG1244 · 08/06/2023 21:08

@wish1 I feel your polyp pain. Had to have my eggs frozen after EC as they found a polyp during my scans. I went privately under local anaesthetic as the wait time in the nhs in my area was really long. Any questions, please feel free to ask x

KG1244 · 08/06/2023 21:08

@Wish1 should have said embryos! Brain has gone to sleep…

Wish1 · 08/06/2023 21:47

Thank you for responding.
I have to have a physical examination on my next cycle as they’ll also do a ET (can’t remember what this was but something trial).
Did you have a trial prior to egg collection?
I was told if the polyp is small enough they’ll take it out on the same day as the ET however If above certain size or harder to get to then I’ll have to have surgery to remove (which has a massive waiting list on the NHS).
If they recommend surgery then I will be doing this privately as I cannot cope with any more delays.

If you don’t mind answering please- was the removal painful and how was your recovery?
what was the rough cost for the polyp removal?
Also how is IVF going for you?
Xx

Hi @Olivia199 , that's exciting that you're starting in July, I find out tomorrow when I can start, I don't have regular periods so will induce a bleed and start. How was your first FET with your daughter? Any advice?
Hi @Wish1 sorry to hear about your polyp, so frustrating, honestly I don't know much about them but hoping you can get sorted ASAP, all these hurdles are just a nightmare!
X

Wish1 · 08/06/2023 23:11

@KG1244 sorry forgot to tag you on above response. Xx

KG1244 · 08/06/2023 23:45

@wish1 no problem at all. No I didn’t have a trial. The removal was a bit painful yes, but manageable pain and no longer than 10-15 minutes. It cost me £500 go to privately for the procedure under local + £220 for the consultation. If I had to do it again, I would definitely do local over general. I had another polyp removed last year under general (clearly polyps love me) and all the waiting in the morning and the anaesthetic and cannula were a lot more stressful for me than being in and out in 45 minutes. It’s now been 2 months since the second polyp removal after my EC and I’m hopefully doing natural FET this month. Had my first scan on Tuesday and got another one next week to check how my lining is. I’m trying to not get too excited this time as I know that things can change. When they found the polyp before EC I was so shocked and upset and just not prepared for it all. I thought IVF would have just been EC, transfer and done.
Please feel free to ask if you have any more questions x

How exciting! It was absolutely delightful actually. After all the IVF and egg collection etc, it felt very relaxed to just have the one scan and then transfer. The nurses made it all feel very special which was nice. I came home and relaxed for the rest of that day (purely as it was my first day off in an age!) And then went back to work as normal. Tested positive VERY early, which kickstarted all the anxiety waiting for scans etc. But all in all, really nice experience.

Wish1 · 09/06/2023 09:45

@KG1244
Thank you!
When we had our first appointment at the clinic for IVF the steps were simple (scan, EC, ET) then when I had the scan and they found a polyp it completely changed the direction- I was gutted!
To help make myself feel better I keep telling myself that at least I’m in good hands and they’ve found it early on.
If surgery is needed i’m definitely going private and definitely going to do local if I can choose because the thought of general makes me sick.
I could swear I got the polyp from the Ovulation Induction meds because all these years I haven’t managed to grow anything whether it be a baby or extra skin and now after OI I have a polyp!
Exciting times ahead for you I’m keeping fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you.
Xx

KG1244 · 09/06/2023 09:54

@Wish1 thank you so much! Oh I’m 99% sure the meds did it for me too. Honestly local was so much better. I also told myself, I’m trying to have a baby, I’m sure childbirth is a lot worse 😊

Wish1 · 09/06/2023 10:10

@KG1244
Love this!
My friend has been recommending all these different things to help with fertility I.e cupping/acupuncture etc and I’m scared to do it so her response is childbirth is worse so I’ve now also started to use this.
mind you, she has 3 kids now so not sure childbirth is that bad lol Xx
