IVF sibling round support

itsmschanandlerbong · 24/03/2023 16:16

Just wondered if there would be any interest in setting up a support thread for those of us thinking about a sibling round. This could very much be a 'me' issue but I feel a bit awkward sometimes posting in other threads, it's a bit like being stuck between being very lucky and fortunate having had a successful round, but also struggling with the challenges of having to go through it all over again. I've found it difficult to know my place in this community now.

So yeah, is anyone else trying or thinking about trying for their sibling round yet? Ill post a comment with our story.

Ohhhhh congratulations @itsmschanandlerbong ! That's amazing news and I hope the tests keep getting darker and your worry about having a chemical eases off. How was this morning's line? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

We still need to sort out the bills and admin, and we're travelling in November for a family 70th, and then again for Christmas and New Year, so realistically I don't think we'll be able to go before January although I'm dying to get started! Going to take the next couple of months to monitor ovulation and so on since we'll be having a natural FET...

Bobbin83 · 06/10/2023 16:40

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well. Sorry i went quiet… I’ve been in the thick of FET for the past couple of months!

I’ve just caught up on everyones messages I wanted to say I’m really sorry to read your update @Olivia199 ☹️ I hope that you are taking time to heal sending love ❤️

@itsmschanandlerbong Congratulations 🥳 that’s amazing news! How are you feeling? Hopefully a bit less anxious? Although I am pretty anxious myself as I’m also pregnant from our FET we tested positive last Sunday I’m 5 weeks today and while I am completely elated I’ve also been petrified, peeing on way too many tests and scrutinising if lines are getting stronger/weaker 😩 I managed to get first response from Amazon not sure if that was a good idea as I’m locked into the need to see a line get darker everyday when I know some days they might look the same arghhhh mind fu*k!

I will stop with the anxious rambling now, hope everyone is doing well and moving forward in the direction they want to xx

Dochas12111 · 09/10/2023 13:12

Huge congrats @itsmschanandlerbong and @Bobbin83 hopefully the first of many BFPs on this thread! How are you both feeling? I’d say nerves are very understandable.

Thanks @beachbum85 and @itsmschanandlerbong for your kind words. I got the all clear health wise today so I’m back in the game. I’ve honestly been so stressed I’ve been on the verge of nervous collapse. What you described about the flights is how I’ve been times ten.

I need to figure out my FET plans now so I’ve emailed my consultant for an update.

January will fly in @beachbum85 time is going round so quickly and more time to prepare and get things right re vitamins etc.

2mumlife · 11/10/2023 12:31

@itsmschanandlerbong @Bobbin83 Congratulations! Its so good seeing that you can get a positive result again!

We've been quietly looking into FET again. So far been for a scan to check everything looks ok (it does) and had bloods taken today to check TSH level. If that all comes back ok, we will sign consent forms etc and look to do a FET early next year 😮

itsmschanandlerbong · 11/10/2023 21:52

@Bobbin83 huge congratulations!! I had been doing the exact same but decided on Saturday to stop testing daily. I had 2 easy@home tests left and 1 clear blue week indicator test. So I took one of the easy@homes today and got a great line, and will use the last and the week indicator one on Saturday. After my wee spiral last week the lines got darker so I'm hoping everything will be ok 🤞🤞 private scan booked for next Sunday.

@Dochas12111 glad you got the all clear - what a relief! Hope you and @2mumlife manage to get your transfers organised soon 😁

@itsmschanandlerbong I was hoping the second time around I'd feel less likely to pee on sticks constantly but it sounds like the anxiety isn't any better. Fingers crossed for your scan!

itsmschanandlerbong · 12/10/2023 12:52

@2mumlife thank you! If anything I've felt more pressure this round. I think because of the amount of money it's costing and thinking about how we would continue to finance further attempts if we needed to when we have our boy to think about. It's never easy but I'm so grateful we've been one of the lucky ones.

Just catching up as we were away..

Huge congratulations @Bobbin83 !!! So happy for you :) was this your first sibling FET? I hope everything has been going smoothly and you're feeling less anxious now.

@itsmschanandlerbong how was your scan? xxx

I'm so glad your tests came back clear @Dochas12111 - I can totally imagine the relief! Have you heard back from your consultant about plans?

@2mumlife I hope your TSH comes back fine. We're also looking at an FET early next year... how are you feeling about it all?

I hope everyone else is doing well xxx

Purtyburty · 29/10/2023 10:53

Hi guys! I am back after my failed FET and failed round of IVF. My next round of IVF is currently booked in for December. And guess what?! I had a positive pregnancy test yesterday! Cannot believe it. And we have male factor!! The line is so strong and even before my period is due.

Olivia199 · 29/10/2023 12:31

@Purtyburty - Oh my goodness! Huge congratulations!!!

Olivia199 · 29/10/2023 12:31

I'm also back after a surprise offer from my parents to fund my next attempt. Feel a bit shocked as I'd thought it'd be years before I could try again after my MMC. Can't quite believe it.

Purtyburty · 29/10/2023 12:42

@Olivia199 thank you! That's lovely that you can think about starting IVF again. Fingers crossed for you.

Olivia199 · 29/10/2023 12:46

Thank you! Some mixed emotions mainly coming from anxiety after last time but doing it now would hopefully give me more embryos and a better chance not only this time but in the future. Just can't get my head around it! So so thrilled.

beachbum85 · 29/10/2023 17:45

Huge congratulations @Purtyburty !! You must be so shocked and so happy!! This is the best news 🤩

Great news on your end too @Olivia199 ! That's so generous of your parents... Such a game changer 😊

Olivia199 · 29/10/2023 18:16

@beachbum85 - isn't it just! Still can't get my head around it. The fact I can try again without the huge financial detriment to me and my DD and the fair few years of waiting to save is.. incredible. I'm going to access the clinics counselling sessions for a while first to try and make sure I'm ready for the whole process again after the MMC. But otherwise excited.

itsmschanandlerbong · 29/10/2023 20:01

Huge congratulations @Purtyburty! That's amazing!

@Olivia199 that's great! When are you thinking of trying again?

Sorry I missed your last comment @beachbum85 scan went well 😊I was SO anxious beforehand as well! We have our clinic scan on Thursday and hopefully if all goes well we'll be discharged from them.

Olivia199 · 29/10/2023 20:57

@itsmschanandlerbong - so glad to hear your scan went well!

I've emailed the clinic as I was part way through egg sharing when they were closing for a month so I switched to a FET in the meantime. Hoping I can sort of pick up from there. But understand I may be back to square one.

beachbum85 · 30/10/2023 14:47

@Olivia199 that sounds like a really sesible approach to acess the counselling and make sure you're in the right headspace to go ahead. I hope your clinic can sort out a timeline that works 😊and also well done for egg sharing!

@itsmschanandlerbong I'm so glad it went well and I can totally imagine the anxiety! Best wishes for Thursday's scan and moving onto the next phase post-clinic 😊

2mumlife · 01/11/2023 12:51

@itsmschanandlerbong Glad your scan went well, hope everything is continuing to progress.

@Purtyburty Congratulations!! Hope everything is continuing to go well with the pregnancy!

@Olivia199 That's so generous! Its a massive financial burden to think about, and it does feel hard when you know you have a child who is here to take care of first.

My TSH came back normal, so we're just waiting to do consent forms etc. Feeling a bit more positive about the timing now as well, a I've had a surprise return of my period, so I feel a bit more like my body is giving me the green light to give this another go too

Purtyburty · 01/11/2023 12:55

Thank you all- currently 4+5 and going to book an early scan for 7 weeks!

Bobbin83 · 01/11/2023 16:17

Hi all, I thought I should update that unfortunately I’ve had a missed miscarriage confirmed at 7 week scan. Feel a bit broken right now but it’s getting a bit easier day by day, I have my little man to think about so I can’t wallow and be down for long as he needs his mummy.

I’m really happy that your scan went well @itsmschanandlerbong and congratulations @Purtyburty that’s amazing news! Hope everyone else is doing well and sorry to not be able to share better news it totally and utterly sucks 😔 at the moment I feel a bit in despair will this ever happen again for us, we are lucky that we have 4 more embryos to try although they are all poorer grades than what has been transferred already. I suppose it’s normal to feel a bit negative after something like this. Xx

Olivia199 · 01/11/2023 17:09

@Bobbin83 - I'm so so sorry Bobbin, this is such a heartbreaking time. You're in a similar position to me - I also found out at the 7 week scan and have four lesser quality in the freezer. My team were very forthcoming that grade doesn't help as much as you think. My worry was that two of them they've said are poor and would want to transfer together. They've reassured me that they've got just as much chance.
Take some time and know you're not alone. Hope you're doing as well as you can. X

beachbum85 · 01/11/2023 22:38

Ohhh @Bobbin83 I'm so sorry, that's really terrible... of course it's normal to feel negative, it's a lot to deal with. I hope you have the support you need, apart from your little man of course. And I hope things start looking up over time... 4 embryos are 4 more chances whenever you feel ready xxx

@2mumlife glad to hear your TSH is fine, and your period is back, and you're ready to go! We've just done our consent forms for our nurse appointment next week so we should be ready to go in Jan or Feb, maybe it'll be around the same time?

username131024 · 02/11/2023 05:38

Hey @Bobbin83 - I’m so sorry to hear that for you both. It’s such a hard journey. On the embryo grading - our ‘best’ one resulted in a BFN and our ‘lesser’ graded resulted in our twins.

Joining the chat - we’re on third round of IVF. 1st round poor response as on a low dose of stims due to high AMH at the time. Two follicles, one egg, not successful.

2nd round, 18 eggs collected, 3 5 day blasts. Freeze all, 1st transfer unsuccessful, second time round 2 embryos put back resulting in twins.

Just had third round - 14 eggs, 10 fertilised. On the wait for day 3 news. We have a huge drop off usually.

Congrats @itsmschanandlerbong - getting discharged from the clinic is a great feeling!

beachbum85 · 02/11/2023 13:03

Hi @IslandsintheOcean ! Congrats on your twins, and very best of luck with this round - I found the waiting and updates super hard, so here to keep you company over these days and keeping everything crossed for good news for you!
