Is there anyone on here that's been treated with sitagliptin? Also anyone had the digital endometrium function test with professor brosens? I have an initial consultation Monday and then my biopsy next Friday

Thanks in advance

I've been looking into this professors work and would be keen to know how your appointment goes. Good luck!

BewilderedBee · 26/03/2023 16:23

I'll put some feedback on here! My initial consultation is tomorrow! I was recommended professor brosens following a consultation with professor Quenby

Hi @BewilderedBee@BewilderedBee
It looks like I'm a few weeks ahead of you. We've been through the tests with Professor Brosens and we did actually get recommended sitagliptin this week which I'll start at the beginning of my next cycle. Im feeling quite positive about it as its the first time we've identified something that hasn't been right. We've had 5 miscarriages and have been trying for a baby for almost 5 years, sadly I'm 40 now though so we need to go for ivf to preserve my fertility.

BewilderedBee · 01/04/2023 11:48

@MediaMinion oh that's great. I hope it does exactly what you need it to do!!! Do you have a review with him after a certain time period on it?

Do you mind me asking what your biopsy showed? I've had a biopsy before which showed high level of Nk cells.

I'm really intrigued by the digital endometrium function test. I'm sure stem cells is my problem. Professor Quenby thought my uterus is the problem. I had my biopsy yesterday but there was query whether I'd done it at the right time as they weren't hundred percent sure I'd ovulated based on the scan! Really don't want to have to do it again. They said 4/5 weeks for the results, more likely 5 due to Easter.

These posts are very useful.
I've recently contacted the Professor's secretary as I'm keen to make an appointment. I've never had a bfp and definitely want investigations before I start cycle number 3.

If any of you are self funding then can I ask how much the fees are? Also, how long did you have to wait before you met with the professor?

BewilderedBee · 03/04/2023 22:56

@JemInher40s I think the initial consultation was £160 and then the biopsy was £850. They did bloods the same day too and all of this was included.

I managed to get an appointment within 2 weeks of calling so it all happened very quickly! Also got my biopsy in quickly too but that has to be done at a specific time during your cycle so that will naturally depend how your cycle falls!

Thank you for responding. I have booked to see the professor later this month.

JemInher40s · 04/04/2023 08:23

I take it the tests include natural killer cells and Microbiota environment of the womb?

thehurtingheart · 17/05/2023 07:41

Hi both @BewilderedBee @JemInher40. I have an appointment with Prof Brosens in July -- just wondering how you are both getting on?

Haz1990 · 17/05/2023 16:11

Hi all

@thehurtingheart @BewilderedBee

I have my initial consultation with Prof Brosens next Monday 22nd May with the hopes to having the biopsies once I've ovulated a couple of weeks later - I would also be really interested to know how you're all getting on?

Wishing us all the best of luck - let's hope for some answers!

x

I had my biopsy just over a week ago. It was quite uncomfortable for those 10 seconds when they collect the sample. The Professor was present, but his junior did the sample. Now I'm just waiting for the results.

JemInher40s · 18/05/2023 11:31

@BewilderedBee how did you get on?

BewilderedBee · 21/05/2023 21:22

So i had my results and review consult last week. My tests were all normal so nothing additional recommended on top of usual ivf protocol. Was thinking I would be frustrated with this kind of outcomes but professor brosens really reassured me. How are you getting on?

Sorry @JemInher40s - just noticed your post before your message to me! I hope you get your results very soon. He also had someone with him observing when I was there but it was professor brosens that did my biopsy

@BewilderedBee thanks so much for the update! Can I ask are you already on steroids / progesterone etc as part of your ivf protocol? Do you know if Professor Brosens test included a test for endometritis as I know he had worked with Prof Quenby on this previously so wondering if he incorporates this in his testing. We got a cancellation and our appointment was moved to this Friday but I am so impatient. I'm also worried that I should be going to another specialist eg Dr Shehata or Dr Gorgy for more in depth investigation...

JemInher40s · 25/05/2023 20:14

Hi Ladies, I've had my results back and my NK cells are low, and in essence my endometrium is akin to one that would have a high miscarriage rate. I've never been pregnant or implanted an embryo. Nevertheless, I will be prescribed sitagliptin.

I'm also getting immune tests with a Greek company called Locus Medicus. They do the tests that Dr Gorgy performs but for a fraction of the cost. The tests are taken here and shipped over via special delivery.

Haz1990 · 12/07/2023 05:49

Thank you all for your updates! How is everyone getting on? I had my biopsy results and consultation yesterday which showed my NK cell levels were low and my endometrium is prone to break down (in the 25th percentile) so my protocol is Sitsgliptin and progesterone (which was also low). Waiting for my prescription now and will start it on my next cd1. Have mixed feelings but overall am glad for an answer and a plan going forward!

JemInher40s · 12/07/2023 09:24

I'm ony second box of sitagliptin with no obvious side effects. Good luck!

Wishingonastar90 · 03/09/2023 16:57

Hi all,
Can I please ask how are you getting on? I had a consultation with prof Brosens a few weeks ago and not sure how I’m feeling about it atm. Need to decide if I want to have the biopsy this month, just worry I’m going down a rabbit hole trying to find answers! I’ve had 4 early miscarriages in the past 2 years no living children, all basic bloods done so far are ‘normal’
any updates on how things went for you / advice would be gratefully received xx

JemInher40s · 04/09/2023 21:02

Hi, I'm hoping to start cycle 3 later this month.

Haz1990 · 05/09/2023 08:12

Hi @Wishingonastar90 - I’m really sorry to hear about your losses ❤️‍🩹 we were advised to stop trying for two cycles whilst taking the Sitagliptin and to try on the third. I’m still on the second cycle so we haven’t started trying again yet. The wait is a killer but I’m just trying to think each day that passes is a day where the tablets are doing their job! It’s a tough call to make but if everything else has come back ‘normal’ then it might be worth considering having the biopsies done xx good luck! Xx

Wishingonastar90 · 05/09/2023 22:50

Thanks @Haz1990 and @JemInher40s for updating, I have decided to have the biopsy this month as figured there’s nothing really anything to loose!
totally agree @Haz1990 the not trying is the worst and it’s only this month atm that I need to stop 🤦‍♀️ just so used to ttc now and waiting for the fertile period every month!!
please keep us updated on here with how things go, got absolutely everything crossed for you’re trying cycle! 🤍🤞 xx

Wishingonastar90 · 22/09/2023 22:17

Hey ladies
so I had the biopsy today and honestly I found it quite painful! 😖 I have also had light bleeding since - is this normal??!
how are you all getting on? Xx
