Is there anyone on here that's been treated with sitagliptin? Also anyone had the digital endometrium function test with professor brosens? I have an initial consultation Monday and then my biopsy next Friday

Thanks in advance

I echo what @PADonk has written, but just to add that, you'll get a follow-up call and a written report after the biopsy.
Expect to pay around £40 per box x3 for the Sitagliptin (if you're prescribed it).
Lastly, the Professor isn't keen on nk cell testing from ones blood. I think his view was that the body's immune system will reject a poor quality embryo as that's its job. Instead, he seemed confident in his approach to take a biopsy of the endometrium.

JemInher40s · 06/11/2023 23:15

Sorry I was supposed to @MediaMinion.

Ttcafterlosses · 06/11/2023 23:19

Above all correct and just to add to the above I recall Professor Brosens asking about my history of miscarriages (e.g when each miscarriage was and how far along you were) and also gave some education on miscarriages and calculated my risk of miscarriage for my next pregnancy using their risk calculator. He spoke about the biopsy briefly too and that you would get a follow up with him when the results are available (my understanding is he doesn’t normally perform them himself but not 100% as he was abroad when I had mine done). All the best

PADonk · 07/11/2023 08:11

@JemInher40s @Ttcafterlosses thanks both, that’s really helpful. Fingers crossed he has availability soon and I can join the club of successful brosens patients 🤞🏼xxx

@MediaMinion @JemInher40s @Ttcafterlosses hi all - thanks again for coming back. Just one more - probably daft - question if you don’t mind… I’m struggling a bit with the thought of losing a month trying for the procedure. Did you all not try that month, or given the reason not to is a slight chance of mc (which I figure I’ve already got after 2/3 in a row!) did you think as I’m tempted to to just take the chance?

Ttcafterlosses · 21/11/2023 19:31

Hi PADonk I am sure we’ve all been there - I certainly have seen months as ‘wasted’ in the past between my 4 losses when not trying. However before the procedure I made sure I wasn’t trying - I was told by Professor Brosens that with each miscarriage your risk of having another increase slightly. I also hated the thought If I was pregnant that the scratch would harm the baby! I did have some bleeding after the procedure too which is apparently normal and my period came earlier than expected. based on what you’ve said please also be aware that if you are prescribed sitagliptin based on your results (not everyone is) but it means stopping TTC for 2-3 months so that will also be a few cycles where you are told not to TTC. All the best - I have started my sitagliptin so currently on a break from TTC

Morning, my pregnancy is via ivf so ttc didn't apply.

PADonk · 04/12/2023 10:46

Thanks all - have done the right thing and stood down this month. Hope they can find something to treat. Thanks again for your advice 🙏🏼

PADonk · 12/12/2023 22:04

Me again(!) How are you all getting on? Would love to hear how effective or not everyone’s finding their various treatment plans.

Had my biopsy last week and it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting, but I just really want to know my results now! Did you all find it did generally take 5-6 weeks? And for those who were diagnosed with low uNK cells did you have any inkling that’s what it would say? I’ve been trying to google but it’s not particularly clear. I’ve had 2 early miscarriages in a row - 7 months apart - and they measured my womb lining as 16mm which sounds v thick and I’m wondering if either one or both of those point more to low nk cells, rather than high…

Sorry to keep bombarding with questions, I really appreciate everyone who’s taken the time to reply xx

Ttcafterlosses · 12/12/2023 23:12

Hi - I don’t mind at all it’s nice to speak to others on here as most people don’t understand.

your womb lining thickness sounds positive but I am not sure what it would indicate.

I got my results within a few weeks - but I think that was only because I was hospitalised and there were concerns of the impact of the infection on my fertility so it needed to be investigated.

I was convinced I would have high NK cells and even asked Prof Quenby if I could start prednisolone prior to my biopsy as I was so desperate for something but of course Rightly so she said we need to find out whether it will actually benefit first. My results showed normal uNK cells which really surprised me but my dEFT was abnormal hence I am currently on sitagliptin for 3 months and unable to TTC due to the treatment.

The waiting is difficult but hopefully you will get answers which help you in your journey and one step closer to your rainbow.

I think taking the sitagliptin is helping my mental health - as I know I can’t TTC, obsess over pregnancy and then have anxiety about whether I’ve had another loss (2 of my 4 have been MMC so didn’t find out until follow up scans after heartbeats and I have huge anxiety about if I had to go through that again).

I hope everyone else is getting on well x

PADonk · 13/12/2023 19:31

@Ttcafterlosses thanks so much - that’s really helpful. And glad to hear that the protocols giving you a much deserved break from the TTC stress and anxiety, I’ve only had 2 losses but I already found myself out of my mind the 2nd time so I know will be the same if not worse if we manage to get pregnant again. Once you’ve been through it it just robs you of the opportunity to have a nice pregnancy ❤️

just had an email to say my follow-up consultation with Dr Brosens is next week which is awfully quick… my biopsy was only 9 days ago. not sure whether to be happy or concerned 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

PADonk · 13/12/2023 19:36

@JemInher40s this sounds VERY stalker-y so apologies in advance but did I read your posts right in that you also got your results in a couple of weeks?

Hi, yes I got my results quickly. I think the professor made a joke and said that he would rush it through as it had recently been my birthday/ age. I did chase it also.
Update- I'm still in my first trimester🙂

PADonk · 13/12/2023 21:43

@JemInher40s ah congratulations - that’s brilliant news ☺️ you must be so thrilled ❤️

And thank you for confirming - that’s reassuring, I was getting worried it must be a dud sample but maybe they’re just being very efficient to get everything done for Christmas 🤞🏼I asked if they could send the results beforehand but seems like a no

Wishingonastar90 · 13/12/2023 22:25

Good luck with the results @PADonk - that does seem quick but as you say I’m sure it’s probably because they want to get things done before Christmas
I had results that were ‘norm’ although I’m still not 100% what they mean! 🤷‍♀️ 4 losses in, still not pregnant but desperately TTC :( this time of the year is tough
let us know how you get on xx

PADonk · 13/12/2023 22:33

@Wishingonastar90 ah thank you 🙏🏼 I’ll definitely be back with a million more questions when I do get them no doubt!

So sorry to hear that - it’s so tough and yes Christmas in particular is so hard, just kids and families everywhere and constantly thinking about how you should have your own baby by now. Hope you manage to find space to look after yourself amidst it all ❤️

Was saying to my OH earlier how I don’t know if I want them to find something or not - on the one hand it means there’s something to treat, but on the other hand it means there’s something wrong which might not be fully fixable. This whole journey's just one giant headf*ck!

Also just realised I got a text from the hospital a couple of hours before they emailed to say I’m on a waiting list following a referral - did everyone else get that?

TTCLondon81 · 29/12/2023 01:31

Hello,
I had my biopsy in November, and my review 12 December. All results were “normal/in range” except my EFT which was 92nd percentile…

”The sample was processed for the (digital)EFT (digital endometrial function test), a novel test developed in our clinic that measures the preparedness of the endometrium for embryo implantation and the ability to transition into a pregnancy tissue (decidualization). When adjusted for the day of the biopsy from a positive ovulation test, the (digital)EFT was ‘high’ (92nd percentile; normal range: > 25th percentile).”

no plan yet, except, I need to go back & be re-tested to see if this is a consistent result as Professor Brosens explained this result can change month to month.

did anyone here experience the same?

JemInher40s · 14/01/2024 12:23

Hi Ladies, how is everyone doing???

Ttcafterlosses · 17/01/2024 12:02

Hi TTCLondon81 apologies you haven’t had any responses. I didn’t have the same so apologies I don’t have any suggestions. Have you been tested again yet?

JemInher40s I’m on the last month of my sitagliptin so haven’t been trying since my 4th loss in August and have also been quite poorly since my sepsis which is another reason. how are you getting on?

Haz1990 · 17/01/2024 15:11

Hi everyone, there’s been a lot of messages since I last checked here and it sounds like a lot are on treatment plans, which I hope are going okay! I know the 3 month delay whilst you take Sitagliptin can be so disheartening, when all you want is to try.

A small update from me, after the 3 months of Sitagliptin I am now 16 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby girl. It’s not been a straightforward pregnancy in the sense that when I was 7 weeks my husband was found to have a balanced translocation, found through having our karyotype testing done. I won’t go into details as it’s all very technical (happy to answer any Q’s if anyone has any!) but essentially that and the fact my womb lining was under par are the reasons for our recurrent loss and subsequent infertility. For those at a bit of a loose end and not sure where to go next testing wise, although very unlikely to show anything, I would push to get your karyotypes tested as it’s given us a lot of answers. I certainly don’t feel out of the woods and will be nervous every day until our girl arrives hopefully safe and sound.

Sending a lot of love and luck to everyone on here, as always xx

NicHopingForARainbow · 17/01/2024 16:56

Hi all I'm glad I found this thread, I just started taking sitigliptin today following results of my biopsy with Professor brosens end of last year. We have had 4 losses in total and 1 perfect pregnancy (1 loss before our son and 3 losses since). 3 of our losses have been missed miscarriages so I totally get the scan anxiety that others have been speaking of.
We also tried ivf twice last year to no success (no bfp). We have 3 embryos left in the freezer so once I've finished the sitgliptin I'd like to ttc / have an embryo transferred ASAP (enjoying the forced break to an extent but feel ready to get going with it now!)
It's so nice to hear of some successes already on this group. I hope we get to hear lots more 🙏 💓

Evening, sorry to hear about the sepsis, and I wish you a full recovery.
You're almost finished with the sitagliptin! I do hope it does the trick and good luck when you next ttc.
Im good, thanks, and all went well at my 12 week scan. Still a long journey ahead.🙂

Cariadxx · 30/01/2024 15:32

So glad I found this thread. Had my biopsy yesterday so it seems like results are coming in sooner than the 4-6 weeks which is great as I'm 40 in the autumn and have decided to stop TTC at that point for my own mental health.

Apparently my endometrium lining was 8.6mm and it should be over 7mm so that's a good start. But my god it was uncomfortable!

Rose1411 · 08/02/2024 19:49

Hi everyone I am seeing proff Brosens on 18th March having had 6 miscarriages. These have all been mainly at 4-5 weeks except for one which was at 12 weeks.

I have had all the blood tests with proff quenby and tried early progesterone. The luteal phase progesterone seemed to help somewhat on my latest cycle as i had a much stronger positive test line. Although it didnt end well that did indicate to me it could be something to do with the lining.

I also have high thyroid antibodies, my thyroid is fine when not pregnant but hormones go up significantly during pregnancy. Hasnt gone out of range but definitely would have if my pregnancies lasted longer. So im also anticipating maybe having high nkcells.

Congratulations to all the ladies on here who have had success so far with the treatments, it really is uplifting to see everyone's progress xx

Good luck with your appointment.
The professor will make you feel at ease, and I found him very professional and with a good sense of humour.
