@JuliaIVF83 you can call your local community midwifery team and do a self referral - in my area we call ourselves the midwife
As soon as we realise we are expecting, we have to register our pregnancy either with GP or local midwife

I already had my first telephone appointment with the midwife and they will see me face to face on 22nd of February for the booking bloods and history taking x

Call them tomorrow morning 😘

AnnaPr1992 · 06/02/2023 21:10

@JuliaIVF83 also, as far as I know the IVF clinic will discharge us after the 8week scan and after the pregnancy confirmed
The first appointment with midwife for the first bloods should be 8weeks as well x

(On nhs website you can find all the information ♥️ )

JuliaIVF83 · 06/02/2023 21:24

Thank you @AnnaPr1992

JuliaIVF83 · 06/02/2023 21:24

Frosty91 · 06/02/2023 21:54

@JuliaIVF83 you normally let your gp know straight away and then they asign you with a midwife. I'm 5 weeks on Thursday.

@AnnaPr1992 Try xonvea. It's a combination of two drugs to treat nausea. Only available on prescription so you will need to ask your midwife or doctor. They usually prescribe it at the hospital for patients for pregnancy sickness its better than cyclzine x

Frosty91 · 06/02/2023 21:58

@JuliaIVF83 @AnnaPr1992 you can either wait till ivf clinic discharge you but I would let the midwife know at the gp. You will get extra appointments and reassurance aswell for advice etc and for those clinics who don't do beta i would advise you to let your gp know and when you get assigned to a appointment you can ask the midwife to do your beta for you x

laurapop · 07/02/2023 07:07

@countrypunk at our clinic you only continue the progesterone to 12 weeks if it was a frozen medicated cycle - as your body isnt naturally producing it. Sounds like if you want to keep taking it though there shouldn't be any issues ☺️

laurapop · 07/02/2023 07:08

@AnnaPr1992 sorry you're feeling so bad 😩. I was like this in my last pregnancy and really worry about it if I was to get pregnant again. Did you take any medication last time?

laurapop · 07/02/2023 07:11

@Frosty91 I'm okay thanks! Driving myself a bit mad overthinking every twinge but overall just getting on with things.

I do have a weird symptom which I had last time too - a super sense of smell 😂. Anyone else had this?

countrypunk · 07/02/2023 08:13

@laurapop Yeah, it's the same at my clinic. It's probably silly of me but the nurse was happy for me to carry on.

I'm sure a heightened sense of smell is one of the early signs of pregnancy! I don't have it myself but I'm sure lots of others on the thread do. When's your OTD? ♥️♥️

AnnaPr1992 · 07/02/2023 10:19

@laurapop I was the same with the previous pregnancy very very sick but the pregnancy didn't progress so everything stopped on week 10

Previously I was taking cyclizine 3 times a day and the midwife gave me proclorperazine but didn't helped me unfortunately
I have tried any remedy but I have to accept that this is it really 😵‍💫

laurapop · 07/02/2023 10:38

@countrypunk not silly at all if it makes you feel calmer! It won't do any harm will it.

I actually don't know when the clinic want me to test as I think they've forgotten to update the app! Last time I'm sure it was 13DPT but I'm going to do a test on Sunday which will be 9DPT - I can't see it not being positive by that point if it has worked!

Plus I don't really want to test on a day my husband is in work so think we will just go for it.

laurapop · 07/02/2023 10:42

@AnnaPr1992 I'm sorry you're having such a hard time! I was probably sick 3-5 times a day but I could eat very bland things in between and that made me feel a little better. I was too worried about taking anything but I think if I was to get pregnant again and it was as bad I would have to.

My friend sounded similar to you though, she ended up in hospital and in the end she did get something to make her feel slightly better.

It hopefully will pass once you are in the second trimester but I know it feels horrendous at the time!

countrypunk · 07/02/2023 10:48

@laurapop Sounds like a plan. I first tested on 9dp5dt and got a faint BFP. Very diluted pee though - I think if I'd tested first thing it would have been stronger.

Will be thinking of you and sending you BFP vibes!

Long term lurker, first time poster!!
Fresh transfer 9th Jan (1st IVF cycle, TTC >4years, 1 x chemical). BFP 20th Jan.
Viability scan on Saturday 4th showed little Pip (as in, pipette) is in the right place and even saw a heart beat. Ovaries are still absolutely huge apparently, which is being blamed for lots of my abdo pain, discomfort and swelling.
Thats it from the clinic now apparently, staying on progesterone until 8 weeks - my clinic does 8 weeks for fresh, 10 for frozen.
In my CCG you self refer for a midwife, and it says they contact you at 10-12 weeks - which after ALL the tests/appointments/clinic calls feels like a long time with nothing!!
Anyway, just thought I would say hi, congratulations on all the BFPs, and good luck to those in their TWWs :) x

countrypunk · 07/02/2023 11:04

@runningismytherapy Ah how lovely! Congratulations to you on your little pip ♥️

Do you know why your clinic does 8 weeks of progesterone for fresh and 10 for frozen? Mine does none for a natural FET. They all seem to do it differently which I find a bit unnerving!

Also, did you cal your doctor before your scan? I kind of want to to get the ball rolling but I also have this dread of tempting fate. Which is completely stupid I know!

runningismytherapy · 07/02/2023 11:15

@countrypunk thank you :)

I’ve done quite a bit of reading about all the progesterone stuff, seems to be that if you’ve have a heavily medicated cycle then you need a bit of extra help because your ovaries wont be producing enough initially. Then by 6-8 weeks the placenta should be making plenty so you can stop.
However there doesn’t actually seem to be any consensus on whether it does anything to help. I know some clinics stop as soon as you get a BFP, others keep you on it a while longer - really is unnerving. However I am actually keen to stop it, the side effects on my bowels have not been fun!!!

My scan was arranged by the clinic - they do it to check implantation has happened in the right place and it’s not ectopic. With the stabbing pains I was getting I was a little convinced it was going to be, but turns out that was just the big old ovaries! I was also a bit worried that they wouldn’t see a heart beat as the scan was earlier than I expected and I know it tends to be visible 6-7 weeks and thought it would be really tough mentally if we knew it had implanted but couldn’t be sure of a heartbeat.

Totally understand the tempting fate thing, it’s so daft isn't it!! Especially as we’ve quite literally put our faith in science 🤣 yet then i can’t help but get sucked down the rabbit holes of a late night google!!! X

countrypunk · 07/02/2023 12:14

@runningismytherapy Thank you. It's so hard, I feel like I'm becoming completely obsessed and I'm only a week in!

Sounds like everything's moving in the right direction for you 🙂 It really does feel like a long time between clinic scan and NHS scan/appointment. I'm hoping that'll give us time to settle into our pregnancies. I may try to step away from Google/Mumsnet for a bit... the support is wonderful but I also find myself worrying more when people mention symptoms I haven't had, or I read bad news from other posters.

I hope everything goes really well for you. Congratulations again 💛

I’ve had some bad news from the lab today. I had 9 mature eggs collected and only 4 fertilised, I had a transfer on day 3 and i’ve just received a call saying the other 3 haven’t made it to blastocysts stage. I’m now really worried about the one which was transferred if that hasn’t made it to blastocyst stage either :(

Frosty91 · 07/02/2023 13:34

@LR94 is this your first cycle? So sorry to hear that. How comes they wanted to do a day 3 and not day 5. You just have to keep praying it works I really hope it works for you. Stay strong x

Frosty91 · 07/02/2023 13:36

@runningismytherapy hello welcome. And congrats :) how many weeks was your first scan. My first scan is 6 weeks +1 day. I got a postive 3 days after frozen transfer. And my hcg level was 9dpt and 11dpt really high. So I'm hoping they will pick up heartbeat then as I tested string postive very early x

Frosty91 · 07/02/2023 13:40

@AnnaPr1992 try xonvea it will help with nausea get your doctor to prescribe it. It's the best x

Vil · 07/02/2023 13:43

@LR94 sorry to hear that but your one really is in the right place xxx

@countrypunk you’ve been a massive support on here but sounds sensible! I’d do the same with Mumsnet a while ago and it really helped me ! Do what you need to do for you

@runningismytherapy congrats on your bfp !

xx

LR94 · 07/02/2023 13:47

@Frosty91 yes its my first cycle and so stressful. Its harder than I thought it would be.
hopefully the one transferred has made it but it just looks really unlikely as none of the other embryos have.

THISISIT23 · 07/02/2023 13:47

Afternoon everyone :)

hope you don’t mind me joining the thread .. I had my egg collection on the 1st Feb and 1 Transferred yesterday.

My clinic has given me the test date 19th Feb it’s feels like a long time too wait 😂
