IVF February 2023

Haven't seen a thread for February cycles so if anyone is waiting to start in the next few weeks and fancies some cycle buddies ❤️

Little about me, 34yo TCC #1. Low AFC/AMH. After two disastrous NHS cycles (NE Scotland) which resulted in no transfer, we went private and are away to start our second mild IVF cycle at Create in Manchester x

Hi all,

I'm due to start on ovaleap next week providing my scan on Tuesday all looks good.
I'm feeling pretty anxious as this is a fresh cycle adder we had frozen transfer which ended in MC last month. It's been so long since our first fresh cycle back on 2020 that I don't really know what to expect (except turning in to a crazy person as I don't react well to the hormones) 🙈
If things go to plan (which I anticipate they won't!) collection should be around the 20th.
I've got PCOS and don't naturally produce progesterone so even the pill has really impacted me. My poor husband doesn't know whether he's coming or going 😂 xxx

Hey everyone! I’m due for egg collection on Wednesday need to trigger tonight feeling pretty nervous not knowing what to expect! Any helpful tips? Xxx

Jayjay08 · 30/01/2023 15:07

@Jx303 @Katie12444 thanks :) . I have had the egg transfer - was a 3BB so not good but not bad quality.. have read that some have had success with this quality so just praying at the moment 🙏

Hi, honestly it’s such a straight forward process. You won’t remember a thing! Be prepared to be there quite a while.. I arrived at 8.30 had my procedure at 11.30 and left around 1pm .. so if anyone is waiting for you it could be a long wait- and if your clinic is anything like mine no one was allowed in with you.

I feel you. The medication affected me badly. To the point I felt I was having a mental breakdown lol - but now I have stopped all medication I am completely back to normal despite nervousness around waiting for things. I have heard that PCOS could be a benefit as you may have more eggs collected but then more risk of OHSS so I suppose it’s hard to get the balance of medication right. What was your outcome last time - how many eggs ect made it?

Jx3303 · 30/01/2023 16:45

@THISISIT23 enjoy your injection free day tomorrow 💕 sorry if you've private messaged I had to change names, HJen previously.

You'll be taken very good care of I'm sure. The actual procedure doesn't take that long but there's som prep beforehand, last time I was in at 8am, collection was scheduled for 9am and I think I went home about 11am once you've had a cuppa, biscuit and wee. They like you to be collected by someone and not work that day. It can be a bit crampy afterwards but they'll likely give you some sort of pain relief or you can just take over the counter.

@Jayjay08 congrats on being PUPO ❤️ I hope it's a quick TWW and a happy result at the end of it 🤞🏻 I think my Day3 in the freezer is a 3BB, it does only take one xxx

Lauralozzle · 30/01/2023 17:56

@Jayjay08 Congrats on your transfer!

@THISISIT23 Enjoy your injection free day! Egg collection is not that bad, you won’t really remember much of it at all!

@West8690 Just take one day at a time. I was on ovaleap for stims, the pen isn’t too bad at all.

Egg collection was today. They got 8 eggs, all from one ovary. Tomorrow we get the call about how many fertilised!

Jx3303 · 30/01/2023 17:57

@Lauralozzle congrats, 8 eggs is amazing! Hoping for some great fertilisation tomorrow for you 🤞🏻 hope you've had a nice restful afternoon x

LF82 · 30/01/2023 17:59

@Lauralozzle thats amazing news! Good luck for the next few days x

Lauralozzle · 30/01/2023 18:02

@Jx303 @LF82 Thank you. I’ve been asleep most the of afternoon lol! Fingers crossed they fertilise!

West8690 · 31/01/2023 11:37

@Jayjay08 it's a really tricky one, I am at higher risk of overstimulation so they had to be careful with meds last time, I was getting no follicles at all until they put me on the highest dose then within 2 days they went crazy. They got 22 on collection, 7 fertilised but then my lining wasn't thick enough so they had to freeze them and only 2 were good enough grade for that. It's all a bit of a head spin. I'm just hoping that we don't have to freeze this time around, the first time the round took 4 months in the end. Nothing like anxiety to go on top of some anxiety!

@Lauralozzle thank you, I know I'm trying to just take it one step at a time. I think it's hard not to just analyse every little thing isn't it.

I don't know how men would cope if they had to go through this!

West8690 · 31/01/2023 11:38

@Lauralozzle also good luck! Fingers crossed you get some good little embryos Smile

Lauralozzle · 31/01/2023 11:49

So, of the 8 eggs, 6 were mature. We had ICSI, 2 have fertilised. I was hoping for more to be honest. Had a bit of a meltdown after, thinking this cycle is doomed, but I’ve picked myself back up.

I hope those two make it. I really hope one makes it for transfer.

This is our NHS round, so, we’d have to go private if it doesn’t work. DH sample was fine, but I think we’d probably have to think about DNA frag test. I know you can have an ok sample but DNA frag can be high and without that test you just don’t know. Hopefully it won’t come to that though.

zarascan47 · 31/01/2023 12:38

@Lauralozzle bets of luck im on an injection free day now feels nice and egg collection 10am tomorrow also nervous about how many will survive but so out of our control its hard

Purplemichelle · 31/01/2023 22:01

Hi everyone can I join? Am just waiting for my period to start before my next attempt at IVF. First cycle failed in summer 2021 and after losing 3 stone I am finally ready to start. The clinic changed their guidelines on BMI so hoping the hard work will pay off. Am incredibly nervous as this is our final attempt. Xx

LF82 · 01/02/2023 15:57

Welcome @Purplemichelle That’s an amazing amount to lose- well done! When are you due to start treatment? I am on day 4 of my injections today and first scan tomorrow

Katie12444 · 01/02/2023 19:20

Sending good wishes to you all - starting injections, egg collection, waiting for transfer. Wherever you are in this process. ❤️

I start on Norethisterone in mid feb which I’m kinda looking forward to. Feels like I’ve been waiting forever to start treatment. Unfortunately I’m one of those people who loves to jump ahead and already getting apprehensive about the injections. The nurse kindly told me yesterday that the shot in the butt is gonna hurt. Joyful!

For those of you already starting shots or have done them, was day to day life fairly normal? Was there anything you felt you couldn’t do? From what I’ve seen online, majority of people getting a lot of bruising and bloating which I can deal with but thinking I might want to hide out at home a bit. Any words of wisdom gratefully received xxx
