IVF February 2023

1000 replies

HJen22 · 11/01/2023 14:06

Haven't seen a thread for February cycles so if anyone is waiting to start in the next few weeks and fancies some cycle buddies ❤️

Little about me, 34yo TCC #1. Low AFC/AMH. After two disastrous NHS cycles (NE Scotland) which resulted in no transfer, we went private and are away to start our second mild IVF cycle at Create in Manchester x

I’ve been quiet recently, not had right head space to reply and keep up.

Congratulations to all those who have had a BFP.

All those who have had a BFN, I feel you pain.

Official test day for me. It’s a BFN. Not at all surprising, I’ve been spotting since 7dp5dt and started bleeding properly yesterday. AF is here in all its glory this morning.

I had nothing to freeze and this was my only NHS round so we need to look at costs now.

Good luck to anyone still waiting to test.

Purplemichelle · 17/02/2023 07:15

@Lauralozzle so sorry for your BFN. Take some time to process it all and be kind to yourself. This process is so very tough.

@THISISIT23 i have read previously that the brown blood is old blood from your last bleed and could be a sign of implantation. If you start getting pains and more red blood, then call your GP/111 or go to A & E. Good luck for Sunday.

My EC is today. Have butterflies.

LF82 · 17/02/2023 07:37

@Lauralozzle I am so sorry that you haven’t the news we would all be wishing for. Do your best to be kind to yourself and if you can I would really recommend speaking to a counsellor. Thinking of you

LF82 · 17/02/2023 07:38

@Purplemichelle good luck with your egg collection today! Hope it goes well!

Purplemichelle · 17/02/2023 07:47

@LF82 thank you 😊

THISISIT23 · 17/02/2023 07:52

THISISIT23 · 17/02/2023 08:04

@Lauralozzle so sorry to hear :( be kind to your self xxx

Purplemichelle · 17/02/2023 08:10

@THISISIT23 thank you! I have come down with a cold, not ideal but nothing is stopping this. Last shot here we go. Xx

You all sound like your doing all so well!

I will be day 4 of stims tonight but today I've got this headache!
Increased fluids but still ongoing...anyone experience this with overleap?

Hey. I've not had any headaches, but you're on a higher dose then me.
I've started getting strong twinges. They started day 3, but got stronger yesterday. They're particularly on my left so it does make me concerned for the cyst on that ovary.
Day 5 today so added in Fyremadel this morning. How are you getting on? Only a few more days for our scans ☺️

Boofimus · 17/02/2023 11:16

Final scan this morning and we're on for egg collection on Monday. Six follicles over the magic blue line so I'm feeling pretty positive! Had a whole palaver with trying to get more stims though because clinic didn't order me enough to start with even though I queried it, and then couldn't seem to get their head around sorting it out. Ah well.

Lauralozzle · 17/02/2023 11:58

Thanks everyone. Wish you all the best going forward.

JustBePositive · 17/02/2023 12:40

Does anyone have any thoughts or insights into fresh vs frozen transfer? Is it always better to try and have a fresh one right away…?

Does anyone have any thoughts or insights into fresh vs frozen transfer? Is it always better to try and have a fresh one right away…?

My clinic had an automatic ‘freeze all’ treatment plan. When it came to booking my egg collection I asked the nurse and she said that that used to be the standard procedure, but studies now show there is no strong evidence that either one is more successful than the other.

based on that, I am having a fresh transfer tomorrow. I feel much better doing that than waiting another two months for a frozen transfer. Only if you have OHSS or poor recovery from the egg collection will they delay a fresh transfer, because obviously your body needs to be ready and healthy.

are you deciding between the two yourself, or just researching for now?

Purplemichelle · 17/02/2023 14:16

Afternoon everyone. EC is done. No adverse reaction to the sedation (I really struggled with that and recovery last time) and feel fine apart from some cramping. We got 2 eggs so hoping they fertilise overnight. Xx

THISISIT23 · 17/02/2023 14:21

@Purplemichelle thats great! Glad all went ok fingers crossed for tomorrow, have a nice rest today xxx

Purplemichelle · 17/02/2023 14:54

@THISISIT23 thank you. I know the chances are low with only 2 eggs but I have to have hope. Xxx

THISISIT23 · 17/02/2023 15:13

@Purplemichelle remember it can only the one so keep thinking positive thoughts ❤️❤️ it’s quality not quantity xx

Purplemichelle · 17/02/2023 15:18

@THISISIT23 thank you for this. So hope the eggs are good quality. The embryologist asked if we were still considering a double embryo transfer. Feel a little overwhelmed at the prospect of this so need to get some advice from somewhere on the statistics. Xxx

TTCRose · 17/02/2023 15:20

@Sj2505 ah thanks...I add in cetrotide tomorrow which is 6 days since starting overleap but cycle day 8.

No other symptoms really. Got some bruises from the injections.

@Purplemichelle 2 eggs is amazing...hoping they fertilise well for you 🤞🏻

@Lauralozzle sorry to hear this...

THISISIT23 · 17/02/2023 15:20

@Purplemichelle take each day as it comes give you self time to think about things properly before rushing to make decisions xxx

VioletCookie · 17/02/2023 15:23

@Lauralozzle I'm so sorry to be reading this, my heart breaks for you. Nothing can be said to make you feel better, but I hope you're as OK as you can be right now.

We used Create for our 1x NHS round and now as a private patient. You may already be aware of this but ABC their sister company are very reasonably priced. We couldn't use them as we need a lot of other tests they didn't cover, but they're worth looking at as the nurses are lovely.

Sending love ❤️

Purplemichelle · 17/02/2023 15:24

@TTCRose thank you 😁 My AMH is in the very low category so my consultant said I have a 5% chance of success. That’s still a chance so we pressed ahead. It’s so hard when you have low numbers and prospects but being kind to myself and hoping for the best. Xx

@THISISIT23 thanks. Yes, I’ll just be led by what happens over the next few days. I’ll update when I hear. How is your bleed now? Are you feeling ok? Xx

Sj2505 · 17/02/2023 16:06

@TTCRose yes I have a bruise from my first ones but nothing since. The new one stings a bit afterwards but the injection itself is fine.
