IVF February 2023

1000 replies

HJen22 · 11/01/2023 14:06

Haven't seen a thread for February cycles so if anyone is waiting to start in the next few weeks and fancies some cycle buddies ❤️

Little about me, 34yo TCC #1. Low AFC/AMH. After two disastrous NHS cycles (NE Scotland) which resulted in no transfer, we went private and are away to start our second mild IVF cycle at Create in Manchester x

@LF82 thank you for the reply, I thought this time around I would be more clued up but this shows I'm really not :(
Do you mind me asking what your sizes/count was on scan days then retrieval day?(if you can remember of course).
Congrats on the 3 frosties, that's amazing x

Hi Ladies, your thoughts and advise if possible please - feel free to be honest, I can handle it lol :)
This is my second IVF attempt (last attempted ended in an 8 week miscarriage and a failed FET), today is day 9 of my cycle, day 8 of meds and also my first scan day. Results were 8 follicles measuring between 10 and 18, with a further 2 showing under 10. Measurements were:
2 at 18
1 at 15
1 at 13
1 at 12
1 at 11
2 at 10
A further 2 under 10.
At this stage on my last cycle I was showing approx. 14 follicles but I'm pretty sure they weren't as mature as they are now at this stage. I have another scan on Friday but I have that feeling the cycle will be cancelled (the nurse was lovely but didn't seem that optimistic although she didn't say as much). She did say my last count was better and that there is still time for the smaller ones to catch up.
I expected my body to react pretty much the same as last time but it hasn't so now I'm frantically googling all sorts (this is something I promised myself I wouldn't do this time around) :(
Any thoughts or experiences regarding day size/quantities?

I may not be the best person to respond because it hasn't worked yet, but those numbers don't sound problematic to me. On my second cycle they went ahead even though I only had a 24, a 16 and a 12 (and a bunch of little ones). Especially if it's only your day 8 scan! All 3 times I've seen development from day 7 to 9 to 11. Fingers crossed for you!

Boofimus · 15/02/2023 17:27

Just as a thought if this one doesn't work out, this time around they've got me on combination ovaleap AND menopur and that seems to have some a much better job of gently coaxing a load out at the same time rather than having any shoot off ahead. Might be worth discussing your stims?

West8690 · 15/02/2023 17:46

@JustBePositive I hope everything went ok! How are you feeling now?
I'm back for day 10 scan on Friday and should hopefully find out when retrieval will be then 🤞🏻 I'm feeling so heavy and gassy 🙈 not idea when you work in close proximity with people!

@SH998 that seems like a really good amount for day 8! I went to see my acupuncturist today and I told her I have 8 follicles (6 x 10, 1 x 11 and 1 x 12) and she thought that was really good! She said hot water bottles on my tummy and lots of good omegas so maybe that could help?

LF82 · 15/02/2023 18:02

@SH998 by the time it got to egg collection day they didn’t tell me the exact sizes but that I had 8 follicles that they thought were big enough. They got 8 eggs so I was lucky I think as they did prepare beforehand that just because I had 8 good sized follicles they might not get 8 eggs x

Hi fellow IVF warriors!

We had our Feb FET yesterday through Create in London. The drs, nurses, embryologists are all incredible, sadly though our coordinator is making too many mistakes and causing extra stress so we've had to put in a complaint 😬

This is our 3rd FET, first 2 resulted in loss at 5-6 weeks 💔 talking asprin and inhixa for Hughe syndrome this time.

Would love to support where I can or share my experiences.

Sending so much love to you all ❤️

@SH998 i think your numbers look great. I’m going in for EC on Friday and only have 3 follicles. The clinic said anything above 12mm is viable and going on your numbers, by the time you get to EC, you will have had a growth spurt for sure. The hot water bottle treatment has worked for me, be careful on use though as you don’t want the follicles to get so big that they are not viable. It’s a challenging thing to do in so many ways but there are an incredible amount of people going through cycles at the moment going from this page alone! Good luck at your next scan and just remember to be kind to yourself. You don’t need the extra stress when you have enough hormones going through your body already.

Purplemichelle · 15/02/2023 18:44

@VioletCookie welcome and good luck with your TWW!

LF82 · 15/02/2023 18:47

@VioletCookie welcome & I have my fingers crossed for you for your TWW! I am with Create too but in Manchester. I have been lucky as our co-ordinator so far has been good and completely agree re the nurses and consultants x

VioletCookie · 15/02/2023 19:16

@Purplemichelle thank you and best of luck for Friday, I'll be sure to think of you and send all the positive vibes!

@LF82 thank you so much 🙏🏼 already had a little wobble as spotting last night after the transfer. It's so easy to get triggered isn't it! I'm glad you're having a good experience with Create, let's hope 2023 is the year we've all been waiting for 🤞🏼

Purplemichelle · 15/02/2023 19:18

@VioletCookie thank you! Triggering at 10pm, so excited!!! Xx

LF82 · 15/02/2023 19:43

@VioletCookie 🤞x

@Purplemichelle good luck with your trigger and lots of luck on Friday! Enjoy your injection free day tomorrow x

Purplemichelle · 15/02/2023 19:48

@LF82 thank you 😊 I remember panicking last time thinking the eggs were just going to come out. Feel better knowing all the steps this time. Xx

VioletCookie · 15/02/2023 19:54

@Purplemichelle so exciting!! I look forward to an update! X

JustBePositive · 15/02/2023 20:59

@West8690 so I still was in ovaleap to my day 13 scan, and then I stopped but even since then I think they still grew a bit.

im home now and got 14 eggs, 10 were mature, 2 are ok and they’re going to look at them tomorrow and 2 aren’t suitable they didn’t say why but overall I’m so happy. I wanted to get at least 10 and also was really nervous about OHSS…

All went ok, such an amazing team of people start to finish, so slick and in/out and so we’ll organised I loved it! Fell straight asleep so get nothing but did have a period type of cramps when I came round, they gave me an option for an Ibruprofen suppository which I had, I couldn’t have coped without it but thought it would just help me have a better day so said yes!

Good luck with yours, can’t wait to hear how you do with it all. None of it really matters in terms of what you get, just need a couple great quality that will stick! Will be thinking of you xx

Hi all, any of you been taking levothyroxin and norethisterone? Do you take them at the same time in the morning or space them out? Thanks

TTCRose · 16/02/2023 11:56

You all sound like your doing all so well!

I will be day 4 of stims tonight but today I've got this headache!
Increased fluids but still ongoing...anyone experience this with overleap?

whomoon · 16/02/2023 11:57

I took norethisterone and spread them out during the day, one in morning, one early evening

Katie12444 · 16/02/2023 12:23

Thanks @whomoon

Were you on levothyroxin too?

whomoon · 16/02/2023 13:33

Katie12444 · 16/02/2023 12:23

Thanks @whomoon

Were you on levothyroxin too?

No just norethisterone. I don’t recognise what levothyroxin is? Do you have to take it along norethisterone?

Katie12444 · 16/02/2023 13:42

@whomoon No it’s a drug specifically for lowering your thyroid level.

whomoon · 16/02/2023 13:44

@Katie12444 I found the nurses at my clinic really helpful, so I’d recommend calling them to discuss more about it.
good luck x

Katie12444 · 16/02/2023 13:57

@whomoon thank you

Sorry to post again!

so on Monday I had some pinkish blood continued testing everyday and still getting positive results but since Tuesday I’ve had a brown discharge - no pains. It seems to be when I’ve moved around it’s worse and after a pessary it’s worse.

Phoned my clinic today and there not interested because I shouldn’t be testing till Sunday haven’t offered any advice or reassurance etc

Phoned my GP - they don’t do pregnancy bloods so unable to help and told me to attend A&E.

don’t really want to attend A&E because I feel they’ll just laugh at me and send me on my way - is there anything else I can do?

It sounds like your cervix is a little irritated. At this stage, it is normal for this to happen, especially since you’re using the pessaries. I know it can be daunting to see blood but it’s not always a bad thing. Hang in there till Sunday and continue to test, for peace of mind. If the bleeding gets worse, you can go to A&E.

Can I ask how much progesterone you’re on?
