FET/IVF - January 2023

Hey

I would love to get a group together of some of us who are undergoing IVF or FETs in Jan. I found it really helpful to have the support of those going through similar last time (Nov 2020).

My story: I am due to start my first FET in January of my one and only frozen embryo. The embryo is from a cycle in Nov 2020 when I was almost 36. I have low AMH and AFC and it was my first and only NHS round. I got 4 eggs all which miraculously fertilised, 1 made it to day 5 and was put back in with a fresh transfer. Sadly it did not stick. 1 egg was left until day 6 and it finally made it to blastocyst. It has been frozen. Rather than having a FET back then they advised me to do a banking package of 3 cycles due to my low AMH/AFC so in Jan 2021 we started our first private IVF cycle with the same clinic (Kings). Once again I was on max stims (gonal f and menopur) and it looked like we would get 4 eggs again but when I woke from EC they told me they only got 2. I had a bit of a breakdown. I was so upset going through all that including over £2k worth of drugs injected to only get two eggs. It felt even worse as I had let myself hope it would go well. Out of the 2 eggs only 1 fertilised normally. On day 3 the embryologist told me it was average quality and she wasn't sure it would be good enough to freeze on day 5 if it even made it that far. I couldn't handle the thought of going through all that mental anguish to not have anything to freeze so I made a last minute decision to go in for a day 3 fresh transfer. I had zero expectations but somehow that average embryo stuck. I was so stressed all pregnancy and worried about everything but amazingly I gave birth to my first baby in Sep 2021. He is now 14 months and I am turning 38 in 2 weeks.

Now it is time to get back on the IVF/FET train. I have been for my initial scan and blood tests. The scan was fine. Still not many follicles but not significantly worse. Waiting for a consult with the Dr next week for an update on my AMH (can't wait.... ) where she'll also decide on our protocol. I am leaning towards a medicated FET just so we can plan it a bit better. If that doesn't work then it is back to a 3 cycle package of IVF.

I hope I haven't bored anyone reading this to tears. Would be great if anyone else out there would like to be a cycle buddy? :-)

Morning all.

It doesn’t look great im afraid. 6 of the 8 eggs were mature, but the fertilisation rate with ICSI isn’t great. Only 2 eggs have fertilised.

Care won’t touch them now until Saturday, I’m fully expecting them both to not reach day 5.

OH sperm sample was good for ICSI so I’m guessing my eggs are knackered. I know I’m not out yet but this journey has been so exhausting and it doesn’t feel like it’ll have a happy ending.

Littlelouie82 · 31/01/2023 10:19

@Lauralozzle never say never always stay positive. I’m under care. I got 11 eggs only 5 fertilised. 1 made it to day 5 grade 2.2, 2 didn’t make it and 2 were slow growers that they left until day 6. They called day six they made it to grade 3.3 but not good enough to freeze but then later on in the day when they were doing to dispose of them 1 had, had a growth spurt and reached grade 2 suitable for freezing. So you never know what is going to happen. Sending you lots of 🍀🍀🍀🍀 and positive thoughts.

Hey ladies! Hope you are all doing well. I'm nearly 6dpt (will be at 3:30pm this afternoon) but I caved this morning and...

Biggest shock of my life after over 3 years of TTC! Very cautiously optimistic as my only other positive test in 3+ years was a chemical. But praying that this works out.

@Lauralozzle I know it’s such a cliche to say, but it really does only take one embryo. Two fertilised eggs is a really positive result and quality is so much more important than quantity. I know it’s easier said than done, but try to stay positive. Look after yourselves this week, and hopefully you’ll get good news on Saturday 🤞🏻

@acaciabluebell Congratulations! How are you feeling?

acaciabluebell · 31/01/2023 10:57

@Purrrrr feels like it's hard to believe! And I'm so nervous for the lines to get darker. I just want the rest of the TWW to be done already!! Symptoms wise, my boobs are incredibly painful but cramping has let up thankfully. How about you?

Frosty91 · 31/01/2023 11:17

Just and update. Because my pregnacy test have been postive since 4dpt and even with a clear blue digital and my line has been getting really dark since 5dpt. Even though my official testing day is 6th Feb. I informed the clinic and they said that sounds promising ❤and would like me to come for a blood test early this week and confirm the pregnancy with HCG levels and that I don't need to wait until Monday for official test. My Clinic originally never offered bloods so there is no harm asking your clinic if you got a positive before the official testing date. Good luck everyone.❤

Frosty91 · 31/01/2023 11:19

@Lauralozzle stay strong and keep thinking postive it only takes one remember that for it to work. Will keep you in my prayers ❤

Littlelouie82 · 31/01/2023 11:21

@acaciabluebell @Frosty91 congratulations to you both I’m 7dpt (fresh) your both so brave to test early. I’m so scared to try. I’ve been quite calm throughout the process but this 2ww is playing me nerves!!!

Frosty91 · 31/01/2023 11:25

@acaciabluebell congrats❤ amazing news😍 this group has been so lucky with blessings x

Frosty91 · 31/01/2023 11:27

@Littlelouie82 is it your first cycle? I been testing since 3dpt🙈 got my first postive 4dpt and clear blue digital 5dpt. With me because it's my first I didn't mind testing early. But those who have been though it many times I understand why they wait. Good luck. This group is full of postives so hopefully fingers cross for you x

acaciabluebell · 31/01/2023 11:29

@Littlelouie82 I totally get you. I was scared as well and was adamant I wouldn't test till OTD. Then I randomly got the urge yesterday and I couldn't rest until I had checked 🤣 I think with fresh there is the added nerves of the trigger shot. Was it a day 3 or day 5 for you? Really hoping you get good news when you do test 💕

Littlelouie82 · 31/01/2023 11:46

@Frosty91 @acaciabluebell it’s my first cycle. I think I’m just really scared I’ll be disappointed.
I was a day 5 transfer last Wednesday.

countrypunk · 31/01/2023 13:50

Ladies, I need help. I don't know why but I just tested. I can see a very very faint positive. My pee was pretty diluted. I'm 9dp5dt. Surely it should be a stronger line by now if it was viable? Do you think this is probably a chemical? I've also got low level cramping.

TBH if it is a chemical I'll be happy just to know that it is possible for me to sort of get pregnant after 3 years of nothing!

@acaciabluebell Massive congratulations to you, you must be absolutely thrilled. I just can't believe the number of BFPs on this thread, it's amazing! ♥️

FET/IVF - January 2023
acaciabluebell · 31/01/2023 14:03

@countrypunk thats definitely a line!!! Having diluted pee will definitely have an impact. Ideally you want more than a 4 hour hold without drinking much beforehand, the darker the better lol. Also, it's a cheapie so it's not as sensitive as others. Do you have any sensitive tests to hand? I'd recommend FRER or a similar 10iu test. 9dpt is equivalent to 14dpo, and many people only test positive after their missed periods 😊

Lauralozzle · 31/01/2023 14:16

@Littlelouie82 @Purrrrr @Frosty91 Thanks. Trying to remain positive… it’s hard, but I’ve spoken to be DH and we’ve both said well, we have two embryos and I’m not sure we’ve ever had embryos! I’m glad we did ICSI, if 4 of the 6 didn’t fertilise with ICSI I’m not sure any would have with normal IVF. That could maybe be the problem, and may explain the unexplained diagnosis - rubbish fertilisation naturally.

Im hopeful, but if it doesn’t work, we might need to do a dna frag test on DH otherwise healthy looking sperm. Just to make sure.

Lauralozzle · 31/01/2023 14:16

@acaciabluebell @countrypunk Congratulations 🎉

Lauralozzle · 31/01/2023 14:19

@Laur0606 Clinic have said 5 day transfer for me. They didn’t say anything about 3 day transfer for me either, but asking them won’t hurt.

Fingers crossed for your 3. This is such a nerve racking wait. I’m with CARE and I won’t get any updates until Saturday, I don’t think, due to their do not disturb policy.

Laur0606 · 31/01/2023 14:50

@Lauralozzle I know what you mean, today has been the longest day ever. I left a voicemail for the lab but no ones got back to me. There was no mention of a 3 day transfer on the phone and I wasn’t really thinking straight at the time to ask, I'm just so nervous my 3 won’t make it till Saturday. My transfer is booked in for 12.

Im starting to think me and my husband are just not good candidates for ivf, with the low amh I was on high doses to get the 5 eggs and even with a normal sperm sample and full ICSI due to the low egg levels, we still lost 2 of the 5 :(

acaciabluebell · 31/01/2023 14:56

@Laur0606 @Lauralozzle The IVF drop off is hard. We had only 3 fertilised from 5 mature eggs (I have low AMH) and clinic were adamant on day 5 teansfer. Only one embryo made it to blastocyst but it was good quality. It only takes one. Sending love and luck to both of you xx

Lauralozzle · 31/01/2023 14:58

@Laur0606 I know how you feel. After my mini meltdown this morning, we’ve lost 4 of the 6, I’m just thinking about extra tests we can do going forward. Trying to be hopeful I get to transfer but having a plan helps.

Hopefully they get in touch with you soon.

SusanTurner · 31/01/2023 15:01

I had the same situation so went for the 3 day because I was worried of they didn't make it to day 5 I would have nothing to transfer .

countrypunk · 31/01/2023 15:23

@acaciabluebell Thank you, I do have some FRERs, I don't know why I didn't use one! I think I'm gonna wait till first thing tomorrow morning and test again then.

countrypunk · 31/01/2023 15:37

@Lauralozzle @Laur0606 Don't lose hope. I know how nerve racking each stage of this process is but you have reason to be hopeful. I've always found it helpful to discuss with my OH what we'll do at each stage if we get bad news. It's good to have a plan in mind, it defo helped me feel more in control.

I'm keeping everything crossed for you and sending love. It only takes one. Xx

Frosty91 · 31/01/2023 16:12

@countrypunk I defo see a line 😍 I would recommend using the 6 days early first response on that the line would be darker or try the xlear blue digital. I had a postive 5dpt on the clear blue digital 1- 2 weeks. Do one tomorrow morning and see. Best of luck xx

countrypunk · 31/01/2023 16:38

@Frosty91 Thank you, I will x
