FET/IVF - January 2023

Hey

I would love to get a group together of some of us who are undergoing IVF or FETs in Jan. I found it really helpful to have the support of those going through similar last time (Nov 2020).

My story: I am due to start my first FET in January of my one and only frozen embryo. The embryo is from a cycle in Nov 2020 when I was almost 36. I have low AMH and AFC and it was my first and only NHS round. I got 4 eggs all which miraculously fertilised, 1 made it to day 5 and was put back in with a fresh transfer. Sadly it did not stick. 1 egg was left until day 6 and it finally made it to blastocyst. It has been frozen. Rather than having a FET back then they advised me to do a banking package of 3 cycles due to my low AMH/AFC so in Jan 2021 we started our first private IVF cycle with the same clinic (Kings). Once again I was on max stims (gonal f and menopur) and it looked like we would get 4 eggs again but when I woke from EC they told me they only got 2. I had a bit of a breakdown. I was so upset going through all that including over £2k worth of drugs injected to only get two eggs. It felt even worse as I had let myself hope it would go well. Out of the 2 eggs only 1 fertilised normally. On day 3 the embryologist told me it was average quality and she wasn't sure it would be good enough to freeze on day 5 if it even made it that far. I couldn't handle the thought of going through all that mental anguish to not have anything to freeze so I made a last minute decision to go in for a day 3 fresh transfer. I had zero expectations but somehow that average embryo stuck. I was so stressed all pregnancy and worried about everything but amazingly I gave birth to my first baby in Sep 2021. He is now 14 months and I am turning 38 in 2 weeks.

Now it is time to get back on the IVF/FET train. I have been for my initial scan and blood tests. The scan was fine. Still not many follicles but not significantly worse. Waiting for a consult with the Dr next week for an update on my AMH (can't wait.... ) where she'll also decide on our protocol. I am leaning towards a medicated FET just so we can plan it a bit better. If that doesn't work then it is back to a 3 cycle package of IVF.

I hope I haven't bored anyone reading this to tears. Would be great if anyone else out there would like to be a cycle buddy? :-)

@countrypunk I definitely see a line to! How are you feeling?

Had my egg collection yesterday but was quite unwell after it. They got 6 eggs. Had a call from the lab first thing this morning. 4 have fertilised so after last time I felt a little better. Still a way to go. Will call me Thursday morning next and let me know if it's a three day or 5 day transfer. We had three day last time, but only had the one embryo. Hoping we get a 5 day this time on Saturday! They did mention potentially a double transfer if some are low grade. I'm just hoping they make it now.

Yes @Laur0606 it is a tough road! Three is still a good number. I only had two last time and only one made it. It only takes one and and as I said before it's definitely quality over quantity. Thinking of you. Definitely ask about a three day transfer if that's what you want.

countrypunk · 31/01/2023 17:14

@Autumbreeze That's great news! How are you feeling now?

I feel OK, just trying not to get my hopes up too much. I've had some mild cramping all day which I know is common in early pregnancy, but I dunno... it just doesn't feel good to me. I'll test again first thing tomorrow with some nice and strong early morning pee!

AnnaPr1992 · 31/01/2023 17:18

@countrypunk I have sharp pain and cramping as well since last night and all day today .. they feel different from the cramping I had after the transfer... don't know what is happening really .... 🙄

Autumbreeze · 31/01/2023 17:24

@countrypunk feeling a lot better just sore now. Back in work tomorrow. It's really hard to know what you are feeling isn't it? Good plan to test again in the morning. Hoping it's a sticky one for you!!!

countrypunk · 31/01/2023 17:36

@Autumbreeze Thank you. Take it easy at work tomorrow!

@AnnaPr1992 It's worrying I know, but cramping is very normal in early pregnancy so chances are it's absolutely fine! I think your womb is moving about and stretching.

Claireabella05 · 31/01/2023 17:50

@SusanTurner I would guess that 9 would stand for 9 cells and the A would refer to the best meaning equal sized cells and no or minimal fragmentation. Day 3 embryos should have between 6-10 cells 😀

@countrypunk amazing news, defo see 2 lines! This group is full of BFPs .I'm too scared to test. I have been having sharp pains all day which is making me nervous and I have been feeling so cold and flu like chills.

@Laur0606 amazing result, keeping eveything crossed for you. I would imagine they would call you day 3 to discuss what day to transfer.

@Lauralozzle defo quality over quality that's how it was for me to get to day 5!

Claireabella05 · 31/01/2023 17:51

@Autumbreeze good luck, that's a great number!!

Claireabella05 · 31/01/2023 17:54

@acaciabluebell congratulations on your bfp!!

What is going on in this group with all these bfps haha

MsSandyToes · 31/01/2023 18:01

@acaciabluebell Huge congratulations! That looks like a great line! I had the transfer the same day as you but I'm too scared to test yet!

countrypunk · 31/01/2023 18:05

@Claireabella05 It's bonkers isn't it! I'm having cramping and it's extremely early days of course, but everything I've read says it's very normal to have cramping in early pregnancy. So don't let that make you think you're out - you're not! When's your OTD? I said I wasn't going to test early and I kind of wish I'd stuck to that, even though it looks positive.

AnnaPr1992 · 31/01/2023 18:14

@countrypunk thank you so much for your reassurance
Iam just overthinking coz on my previous pregnancy I started bleeding on week 5 and then I lost the baby 🥺 now iam 4w and 5d
Pffff is everything too much to take in ...

I can't wait for my scan next week
I haven't tested since Saturday and I won't test anymore is overwhelming

Claireabella05 · 31/01/2023 18:16

@countrypunk keeping eveything crossed for you, I think I would be the same even if I got bfp the worry wouldn't stop.
Mine is Monday 6th, I might test on Sunday but not sure yet, thought it would just give me longer to process it before returning to work on Tuesday, it took me such a long time to pick myself back up after the last chemical, it terrifies me.

Claireabella05 · 31/01/2023 18:33

@AnnaPr1992 sorry to hear you are having a difficult time, just hang on in there!!
My friend has not long found out she is pregnant, she is 7 weeks and has been getting cramping everyday which keeps her up at night, so i would say its normal.
Keeping everything crossed for you 🙏

ali2021 · 31/01/2023 20:18

Congratulations to everyone with their BFP!! Fantastic!!
Have to admit, I'm only 4dp5dt and I'm already feeling hopeless due to my lack of symptoms. No sore boobs, no real cramps, no shooting pains, no spotting.. I had no symptoms pre-transfer with progesterone either. Has anyone heard of a BFP with no 'typical' symptoms? Really despairing comparing to others.

countrypunk · 31/01/2023 21:29

@Claireabella05 I think testing on Sunday to give yourself some time to sit with the result is a good idea. I'm also scared that this will turn out to be a chemical, but it'll be the closest I've got to being pregnant in 3 years so will take that as a kind of win!

@AnnaPr1992 it's totally understandable that you're thinking like that after last time. Keep the faith and hold on for your scan and we'll all be keeping everything crossed for you. Xx

@ali2021 No symptoms doesn't mean anything - loads of women are shocked with a BFP after no symptoms. Most of the symptoms on this thread are probably down to the progesterone, and not every woman gets side effects from it. So don't feel disheartened.

Laura23FE · 31/01/2023 21:29

@ali2021 im the same as you, 3dp5dt and feel nothing, also didn’t have any symptoms pre transfer. I have had a banging headache for the past 24 hours but that’s about it, really don’t know what to expect to feel like as this is my first transfer and never been pregnant before x

Claireabella05 · 01/02/2023 07:32

@ali2021 @Laura23FE I wouldn't worry about no symptoms, Ive read plenty of stories where most pll dont have any....if I'm honest I think my symptoms are progesterone related and in my head half the time, as its only when I think about it, when I'm busy I don't even feel anything, so i am feeling like you two.. i woke up twice last night in a panic that i couldnt feel anything and felt normal....I'm defo turning into a crazy lady in the 2ww, my poor partner I think he has had enough of me haha.

countrypunk · 01/02/2023 08:31

Morning everyone. I did another test this morning and this one looks pretty definitely positive. Can't quite believe it.

Thinking of everyone yet to test and everyone waiting for their transfers. Lots of love to all.

Frosty91 · 01/02/2023 09:10

@countrypunk 😍 buzzing for you❤ so so happy for you that's a very strong postive. Check us out this group is goals😍 I'm loving it. If you do a celarblue it will defo show the weeks now😍

Jane1284 · 01/02/2023 09:13

Congratulations @countrypunk - that is a super strong positive. I thought the line on your cheapy test was pretty good for one of those style tests. They are not sensitive at all so any shadow is a good sign.
