FET/IVF - January 2023

Hey

I would love to get a group together of some of us who are undergoing IVF or FETs in Jan. I found it really helpful to have the support of those going through similar last time (Nov 2020).

My story: I am due to start my first FET in January of my one and only frozen embryo. The embryo is from a cycle in Nov 2020 when I was almost 36. I have low AMH and AFC and it was my first and only NHS round. I got 4 eggs all which miraculously fertilised, 1 made it to day 5 and was put back in with a fresh transfer. Sadly it did not stick. 1 egg was left until day 6 and it finally made it to blastocyst. It has been frozen. Rather than having a FET back then they advised me to do a banking package of 3 cycles due to my low AMH/AFC so in Jan 2021 we started our first private IVF cycle with the same clinic (Kings). Once again I was on max stims (gonal f and menopur) and it looked like we would get 4 eggs again but when I woke from EC they told me they only got 2. I had a bit of a breakdown. I was so upset going through all that including over £2k worth of drugs injected to only get two eggs. It felt even worse as I had let myself hope it would go well. Out of the 2 eggs only 1 fertilised normally. On day 3 the embryologist told me it was average quality and she wasn't sure it would be good enough to freeze on day 5 if it even made it that far. I couldn't handle the thought of going through all that mental anguish to not have anything to freeze so I made a last minute decision to go in for a day 3 fresh transfer. I had zero expectations but somehow that average embryo stuck. I was so stressed all pregnancy and worried about everything but amazingly I gave birth to my first baby in Sep 2021. He is now 14 months and I am turning 38 in 2 weeks.

Now it is time to get back on the IVF/FET train. I have been for my initial scan and blood tests. The scan was fine. Still not many follicles but not significantly worse. Waiting for a consult with the Dr next week for an update on my AMH (can't wait.... ) where she'll also decide on our protocol. I am leaning towards a medicated FET just so we can plan it a bit better. If that doesn't work then it is back to a 3 cycle package of IVF.

I hope I haven't bored anyone reading this to tears. Would be great if anyone else out there would like to be a cycle buddy? :-)

@JuliaIVF83 congrats😍😍 so happy for you. Mine came back 400🙈😍 I'm also going back k Saturday in the morning for another one. Feeling excited. Wondering did anyone have a 400 at 4 weeks and had twins x

JuliaIVF83 · 02/02/2023 16:21

@Frosty91 400!!! sounds like twins... or triplets to me! Amazing news 😀

Frosty91 · 02/02/2023 16:28

@JuliaIVF83 😍😍 Thankyou. I have looked at some charts and it does range from 10 to 400. So anything between that is good. This is such a waiting game 🙈 back on Saturday now x

AnnaPr1992 · 02/02/2023 16:40

@JuliaIVF83 congratulations on your bloods ♥️ so exciting news 🤞

I had HCG on week 4+1 and was 400 and after 48hra at 4+3days and is was 1,500and it wasn't twins it was a singleton (that was my previous pregnancy, for this I haven't done any bloods)

Fourfrosties · 02/02/2023 17:01

Thank you everyone. I've had a busy day at work which has been a welcome distraction. We're in the fortunate position that we have 3 more frosties left so options to go again. Waiting to hear from the clinic still as to when etc. Think our preference is to try another modified natural cycle and then if that doesn't work then look at a more medicated cycle.

@laurapop good luck tomorrow. My DH hasn't made it for any of my transfers - my first lot we're during covid so he wasn't allowed, and childcare this time. To be honest I'm not sure he would have added much to the whole procedure!

SusanTurner · 02/02/2023 17:48

Are your tests showing postive hun. I got 4 days left before my blood work but every test is negative so far 🙃

laurapop · 02/02/2023 20:45

@Fourfrosties no it's over so quickly isn't it, I guess it's just nice having a hand to hold! My last one was at the very beginning of covid - a few days before they closed so he was allowed in at that point. But then had to have all my NHS scans alone 🙄.

Its great youve got 3 more embryos frozen! Although I know it probably doesn't help you feel much better right now. I've got 1 more if this one doesn't work out. I don't know why but I'm feeling negative already so need to snap out of it!!

Dbop100 · 02/02/2023 22:39

Ladies I need some advice, I'm 5dp5dt today, my husband went out tonight and I of course caved and took a cheapie test 🤷‍♀️ After 5 mins I thought I saw a faint ghost line, this photo was 20mins later. I'm not sure if this is a very faint early line or a watermark. Also feel v bad about testing behind his back, but I don't want to tell him and get his hopes up if it's an evaporation line... 🤯

@Dbop100 it looks like a positive to me. 😁 I would try again in the morning maybe with a frer.

Dbop100 · 03/02/2023 07:16

Did another test with FRER just now and yes we have a faint positive at 6dp5dt 😍 I had zero symptoms and was convinced it hadn't worked. We've a long way to go but this is such a lovely step I the right direction. It's been 3.5 years of trying and this is my 3rd transfer, our first with Donor Eggs as I have DOR. Good luck to everyone else in the TWW xxx

@Dbop100 congratulations, what a journey you've been on! Best of luck going forward 😊🤞

countrypunk · 03/02/2023 07:32

@Dbop100 Congratulations! That looks like a strong positive for 6dp5dt. It's a shock seeing that second line when you didn't think you ever would isn't it? 🧡

Lucy5yearsttc · 03/02/2023 08:43

@Dbop100 looks similar to how mine was! Have you tested this morning?

Lucy5yearsttc · 03/02/2023 08:44

@Dbop100 sorry just saw! Congrats!!

BertLiv · 03/02/2023 08:47

@Dbop100 Congratulations! What a wonderful way to start the weekend!

I’ve just come back from my scan. My lining is a little thin, but she wasn’t worried as it’s still quite early on. She found 2 follicles so far but she’s hoping another will appear. One of them is 13mm though so I’m now on two new injections - more painful than Ovaleap but manageable, luckily! Next scan will be Monday or Tuesday when hopefully my egg collection date will be set!

SusanTurner · 03/02/2023 09:39

@Dbop100 congratulations!

@SusanTurner I’m sorry you’re going through such a tough time. Some bleeding is quite normal for some people and cramping too.
Even though it might seem hopeless, hold on to your test day before changing anything. At this stage, there’s very little you can do except continue with progesterone.
If this hasn’t worked, once you stop taking progesterone, you’ll probably get your period a week or so later.

SusanTurner · 03/02/2023 10:27

OK thank you lovely

Laura23FE · 03/02/2023 12:45

@Fourfrosties sorry to hear you had a negative test 😢

@LR94 good luck for your updates tomorrow, hopefully you get good news

@JuliaIVF83 amazing to here about your BETA, especially as you are team no symptoms :) gives me a little bit of hope 😊

@Dbop100 congratulations!! you re making me want to test early haha today is day 6 for us <3 but still havent tested...too scared in case its negative 😬

Maya34 · 03/02/2023 13:47

Hello everybody!
Thank you all for sharing your experience, it really helps to understand that you are not alone with your problem and a lot of couples are fighting for opportunities to become parents. Wish everybody good luck🙏
I had my eggs collection in November, now planning to have FET in February, few days ago started with Progyluton 2mg two times a day. But after the ultrasound doctor suggested I increase the dosage to 3 times a day. I have had strong dizziness for the last two days, not even able to work(((
Possibly, somebody faced the same side effects? Thanks a lot

AnnaPr1992 · 03/02/2023 14:07

@Maya34 hello and good luck with your FET ♥️ keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞🙏
This is my second FET currently 2weeks post transfer .
Both times when I started taking the oestrogen tablets ( both times I was on Progynova 8mg a day) I had very bad headaches basically it was a constant dull headache, it lasted the first few days and then settled.
I am sure your dizziness is due to the levels raising in your blood and iam sure will settle as they days pass x drink lot of water and get rest x

laurapop · 03/02/2023 14:14

@Laura23FE thank you!!

Just got out of the clinic now after my FET 😊. Feels very strange to be going through it all again. I'm a mixture of excited and nervous.

The embryo was frozen as 4BB but they said is now 5BB as it's started to hatch? My daughter was a 5AA so it's hard to not worry about the comparison but I know it's still very good quality!

Now to keep myself busy 🤦🏼‍♀️

Maya34 · 03/02/2023 14:50

@AnnaPr1992
Thank you very much for the answer, wish you good luck😊

Vil · 03/02/2023 15:22

Hi everyone

I’m 8 days past my FET, I feel absolute nothing and feeling so deflated. I’m convinced it hasn’t worked and don’t want to think hopefully as the fall is too big.

I might test over the weekend although my test days is next Thursday!

Im 33, trying for 3 years unsuccessfully and have tried ovulation induction and IUI multiple time before this!

My FET was a B+B and I have 3 Frosties but all worse quality.

Best of luck everyone
x

I'm not sure if I belong, i started on January 13th and I am now in 2ww.

I am really scared. I only ended up with one embryo and I just don't seem to be having the best luck.

I started with 9 eggs retrieved, 5 matured. 2 split with ICSI. So 3 were fertilised. 2stopped developing and I had to have a 3dt and now I'm just praying.

I feel like I'm going a little insane waiting. Anyone else in 2WW?
