ICSI January 2023

Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?
Thank you

@Autumbreeze oh I'm sorry to hear that. I'll still keep everything crossed for you.
Which CRGW are you looking at? Where abouts are you based? I can't fault them so far. They've been amazing. Always really quick to get back to me and answer all my questions.

I'm feeling good. Yesterday morning and this morning I've felt so nauseous, but I don't know if that's the stims - seems a bit of a coincidence. It goes when I eat something. But other than that nothing else yet ☺️
Last nights injections went a lot smoother than the night before haha.

Autumbreeze · 15/02/2023 09:16

@Sj2505 we are South Wales so will use the Cardiff clinic. Which one are you using? I went to them for an appointment a few years back for DH and they were really good. The one we are with at the moment is WFI.

Did you get all your meds through the clinic to? Do you mind me asking how much you paid for medication?

Autumbreeze · 15/02/2023 09:17

@Sj2505 I'm glad the injections are going ok. Did you saunter long or short protocol? Monday is creeping closer ☺️

Lauralozzle · 15/02/2023 09:19

@Sj2505 I think it’s coming today properly. Friday morning I’ll do the test and get this over and done with.

Hopefully we can have our review by the end of the month and we can find out about the packages and costs. It’s going to get very expensive so we probably need a point where we say enough is enough. we don’t have the funds for private, loans will get expensive with rising interest rates and we can’t really be in a position where we end up crippled from debt.

Sj2505 · 15/02/2023 09:30

@Autumbreeze no way, I'm in South Wales too haha. We go to the Cardiff one (it's in Llantrisant).
Yes I got all meds through the clinic, they were then sent by Stork. Apparently I'm on a medium-high dose and I paid £1,858 for all meds.
I'm on long protocol I think.. antagonist anyway.
I'm not even wishing the time away, I'm loving finally being on the meds so I'm happy now ☺️ haha.

@Lauralozzle I don't blame you for feeling like that after you've resigned yourself, I'd be the same, just wanting it to be done!
It does get very expensive. Do you think you'll be in a position to give it a try?

Autumbreeze · 15/02/2023 09:40

@Sj2505 that's crazy we are both South Wales ☺️ Yes Llantrisant is so much easier for us (no idea why they call it cardiff) Been driving back and fourth Port Talbot and it's been hard work. That's not to bad for the meds really. I think we will have to really sit down and look at it all. I may book a consultation.

I'm glad it's going well and your feeling happy and positive. Best way to be!

@Lauralozzle I'm sorry, it's so rubbish! I have to wait until Saturday to do mine. If I call them early they'll still make me wait! I agree can't wait to just get this weekend over with now.

Sj2505 · 15/02/2023 09:46

@Autumbreeze Port Talbot would be a stretch for us too, so we must even be in the same area ☺️
They estimate between 1500-2000, so it was on the upper half. And that's all my Lubion, Prednisolone, the mysterious one that I'm get to find out what it's for haha, so they've literally thrown in everything.
The consultation was good. For £225 they include a scan and AMH bloods, but you won't even need those (unless your AMH is over 3 months ago). I think they said £150 if they weren't needed.

Autumbreeze · 15/02/2023 10:02

@Sj2505 yes we must be. Just talked to DH and I think we will probably book a consultation with them. I've been reading the website and I think speaking to someone and asking questions is easier than trying to work out what is what on there. Did you do a multi cycle? Or just the one round? There is so much information I don't know where to start.

Sj2505 · 15/02/2023 10:37

@Autumbreeze feel free to ask anything, if I can help I will.
We've just done the one round, we couldn't justify spending all that on multi rounds.
If we get embryos to freeze then further FET are around £1,500, so not horrific - unless I need more meds then will have to pay for them separately but will obviously be a lot cheaper than this time.

Lauralozzle · 15/02/2023 11:43

@Sj2505 Yes, I think we’ll be able to give it a try privately. I think if we can get a decent loan for a refund or a multicycle, we’ll be able to find the money for meds. I quite like the idea of the refund packages, but I’m not sure I’d be eligible. I’ll need my AMH retesting. It was 13.4 last March, so I’d expect it to go down, just hopefully not too much!

I don’t think I can chance just one more round. I only have 1 working ovary and our fertilisation rate was appalling, I’d like more than one shot at it!!

Autumbreeze · 15/02/2023 12:54

@Sj2505 I PM'd you. I hope you don't mind.

Sj2505 · 15/02/2023 13:31

@Lauralozzle I wish we were able to do multicycle to be honest, just to take the pressure off.
I'm not sure what my AMH is because I had two different readings only two weeks apart.
My first with NHS was 14.2, and 2 weeks later with the clinic it was 10.1 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Autumbreeze of course, I can't access them on the app, I'll log in online now

Sj2505 · 15/02/2023 13:47

@User491 is it your scan today? Best of luck, thinking of you!

User491 · 15/02/2023 18:22

Hey everyone,

It was today the scan, it's not good news unfortunately.. it's grown a little again but they said it's just too far behind to be viable. I've come away with the tablets, and I plan to start them tomorrow. I have to be seen by my local EPU tomorrow first just so that if anything goes wrong I can go to them for help.
I'm gutted, but needs must! There's a waiting list now u til the summer for the next round, I was a bit deflated at knowing that, but I need to feel thankful we even have that chance of more rounds, especially at seeing your posts.

@Lauralozzle I had a quick flick through and I am so sorry to read your news, I really am thinking of you ❤️ have you spoken to the clinic?

Same to you @Autumbreeze I really hope your period doesn't arrive and your pleasantly surprised

This whole ivf situation really is crap isn't it ☹️ we go through so so much!

Sj2505 · 15/02/2023 18:27

Oh @User491 I'm so sorry! I just can't imagine 🤍
That wait time seems very long! But it does give you some time to recover and look after you I guess.
Thinking of you x

Autumbreeze · 15/02/2023 18:38

I'm so sorry @User491 heart breaking for you to go through that! I know it seems ages away but the summer will fly here and it'll give you time to heal mentally and physically. Be thinking of you over the next few days!

Lauralozzle · 16/02/2023 07:24

@User491 I’m so sorry, that’s horrible news. Hopefully the break will give you time to recover before you start again.

I’ve not spoken to the clinic yet. It’s definitely here this morning though, not brown anymore. Cramps are back. Official test day is tomorrow so I’ll just call them tomorrow with the negative test. Think I’m going to stop the progesterone today though. OH is pretty down about it, and he’s upset that it’s our one NHS chance gone. I think he thought it’d just work.

Im going to call them first thing tomorrow, I presume they’ll call me back and we can hopefully arrange the review.

It takes on average 3 cycles. That’s what I’m telling myself.

Hope everyone is ok. ❤️

zarascan47 · 16/02/2023 09:36

@User491 sending hugs to you xx

MsSandyToes · 16/02/2023 10:15

@User491 I'm so so sorry, this is so cruel. It happened to a friend of mine too. Take care of yourself and try and relax and recuperate during your break.

@Lauralozzle I'm also really sorry to hear your news. You are absolutely right about the three cycles. 🤞 for next time.

@Autumbreeze I still have everything crossed for you. 🤞

@Sj2505 How are you feeling now? Stims going well I hope? When are you aiming for EC?

Sj2505 · 16/02/2023 13:31

@MsSandyToes I'm feeling good thank you. Stims are going really well. I've started getting twinges in my ovaries ☺️ they're particularly on the left, so I'm hoping that doesn't mean that cyst is growing or anything.
I'm thinking that EC will be next Friday. I have my day7 scan on Monday, so I assume I'll then have day9 scan on Wednesday and hopefully trigger that night.
Would work out very well as OH is off work that Friday, so wouldn't need him to call in sick.

How are you feeling?

Autumbreeze · 16/02/2023 14:58

@Lauralozzle AF seems to have arrived today. I thought it would be today as it's exactly the same as last time.... two days before I was due to test. It's ok. I'm ok. I guess we will just do a consultation in the private clinic and take it from there. Our current clinic you can pay private to but I didn't like that we didn't get a lot of control over the choices made and they don't know who is NHS and who is paying so you get the same care, which is good. But I definitely want to make more choices ourselves.

Lauralozzle · 16/02/2023 16:16

@MsSandyToes Fingers crossed for next time indeed. I’m doing a half day tomorrow so will start early and get work over and done with. OH booked tomorrow off, so after my 4 hrs we’ll try and do something nice I think. I should be finished by about 11:30 so will have the afternoon.

@Autumbreeze I’m sorry AF has arrived. That’s shit. I’m glad you’re ok though. Hopefully a new clinic where you have more say will help and give you a bit more control.

I’ve not used any pessaries today. I found yesterday when I used them that with the bleeding they just felt sore and itchy. I think when we have the review I’ll ask about spotting starting at 7dp5dt even though it was a tiny bit then. Maybe I need a stronger progesterone or something. Or pessaries and injections, I’m not sure.

Lauralozzle · 17/02/2023 06:59

As expected, bfn on official test day.

Autumbreeze · 17/02/2023 07:40

I'm sorry @Lauralozzle 🙁 get planning your next round!! Hopefully the one! Short protocol definitely worked better for me!

I'm still bleeding lightly and cramps from hell. If I go with what happened last time today it'll settle down and I'll feel ok and then tomorrow period will come full force. Going to call the clinic today just to say if it's negative can I stop meds and take ibuprofen, otherwise I'm going to have to wait until Monday and I can't go all weekend if was like it was last time. They won't accept a negative result today so I've saved my test to do tomorrow. I am not wasting any more money doing/buying tests.

Sj2505 · 17/02/2023 07:40

@Lauralozzle I'm so sorry for your BFN 😔
I think you might be on to something about the progesterone, definitely worth mentioning when you have your review.
Are you thinking of staying with the same clinic?
I hope you have some space to relax and think things over over the weekend ♥️

@Autumbreeze sorry about AF! Is it still in flow today?
I'm happy that you have a rough plan going forward, it'll give you something to focus on ♥️

I started watching the Alex Jones documentary yesterday. It's amazing. I do seem to constantly be welling up from start to finish though, so definitely watch with caution. OH is fascinated by it.
