ICSI January 2023

Hello,

My partner and I need IVF due to MFI. We are hoping to start treatment in January 2023.

I had my fertility ultrasound scans today and these are my results:

AFC -

Left Ovary - 13 follicles
Right Ovary - 14 follicles

My Endo thickness was 7.3mm (cycle day 10).

I have no masses, cysts, fluid etc - everything looked smooth and normal.
How do these results seem?

I was also told I have a retroverted uterus - will this affect IVF?

I'm ok, the days are dragging a little, but I think that's because I'm counting them down haha. I'm going to keep myself busy this weekend I think.

Egg collection went well. We retrieved 6 eggs which I'm pleased about since the consultant warned we wouldn't get many at the start and then there was the fear of cancellation. Now the wait for the call tomorrow with everything crossed.

@Autumbreeze that's very exciting! Fingers crossed you'll be where I am this time next week. My trigger was at 9:30 on Weds and proceedure was this morning at 9:30 but we had to leave at 4 am to drive to the clinic to be there for 7:45!

@Sj2505 I didn't feel too bad at all and touch wood I've had very minimal pain today. The worst bit of the whole thing was the canuala in teh back of my hand because I don't like that!

@Lauralozzle How are you getting on with your stims? I didn't feel much at all for the first 10 days (I was slow to respond) the last 3-4 days I felt bloated and a bit uncomfortable but not to bad.

That's amazing @MsSandyToes I bet you are very happy! You getting the call tomorrow now? I hated waiting for that flipping call! Aw yeah I hated the canuala as well. Did you sleep through it or were you awake? Wow 4am is brutal! I thought I had it had Monday with my 6am start.

@Sj2505 it maybe dragging now but that won't be for long!

Did the four injections tonight. Some liquid came back out so think we need to leave it in for longer tomorrow. My belly is so sore when I'm bending down as well.... trying to not make a big deal if it in work as I don't want anyone to ask but every time I bend down I'm like oouch! 😂 plus I'm running out of places to inject that ain't bruised now... I didn't bruise like this last time to!

I do have a little headache of these meds which I didn't off the last ones. But I feel no different otherwise.

@MsSandyToes that's amazing, 6 is a great number! Hope the call goes ok today. Are you having IVF or ICSI? How are you feeling today?

@Autumbreeze 12 more days to go 😆 sorry to hear your feeling a bit like a pin cushion! You can do them in your thighs too can't you?

I’m feeling much more myself on stims. No uncomfortable side effects yet, but it’s very early. I just feel better, without knowing that I felt off before, it’s strange! Suppose that is because I’m coming out of a menopausal state!

@Autumbreeze I’m with you on feeling like a pin cushion. Now there’s two injections a day, it’s difficult to find a spot where I haven’t been injected before. About 50% of injections bleed after now, that didn’t happen at all at first! They’re all in my tummy, I think the thigh will hurt way too much! I have big thighs but it’s all muscle! Much fatter on my belly! 😂

@Autumbreeze Well I thought I was awake for it but I also felt like it was only 5 mins and I was gone for about 20! Haha! No real recollection of it though which I'm pleased about. I was bright as a button staright after though in the nurses words so I think they gave me the perfect amount of sedation. Yes we are 3 and a half hours away from teh clinic so the start was brutal but at least the roads were quiet. Sorry to hear you're so bruised. I also had headaches but downing water seemed to help.

@Sj2505 we've had ICSI, they called this morning - of the 6 eggs, 5 were mature and 4 have fertilised so the plan is for a transfer on Wednesday! Fingers crossed.

@Lauralozzle hope you also start to feel much better on the stims asap

I've had an awful migraine yesterday and back end of it today which has made me feel a bit queasy! Loads of crampy achy ness going on too, I don't know whether it's good or bad!
Got a not pregnant on a digital test this morning 😢
But I think my frer's look like they are getting a little darker... it's stressing me out 😬🙈
I've posted the pic of the 4 tests I've done.
Scans not til the 9th Feb... gonna go crazy before then 😂

Yes @Lauralozzle I have to agree the belly definitely has more fat 😂 tue clexane I was told I can do higher in my belly but no as fatty as the bottom so I'm doing them all there. I bled a little with one of mine last night! I'm hoping this will be my last week of injections now and egg collections isn't to far off 🤞🏻 glad you are doing ok in stims! I'm feeling fine now to expect for my belly being tender.

@MsSandyToes I was asleep for mine, I don't remember a thing and woke back up on the ward... I hope it's the same this time. I woke up bright but got really unwell in the evening but my body hates GA. Fab news on the phone call...... I'm super excited for you! Good luck for Wednesday!

@User491 Great hearing from you! I’ve been wondering how you’re getting on. They look like they’re getting darker to me as well! Hopefully the crampy feeling is a good sign! Maybe it’s just too early for the digital. The 9th Feb will be here before you know it!

@Autumbreeze I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better! Last week of injections sounds like bliss haha 😂 I expect I’ll be I je ring until at least 30th. Not sure what I’ll be more happy about, no more injections or pay day!

I had a bizarre case of nausea today, I was eating a chicken burger and had a bit of the bread on its own and thought I was going to puke! It didn’t last long, I was fine once I had a mouthful of chicken. Only ever happens when I eat something I don’t like, gag reflex happens, but it was a bit bizarre as I’ve never had this with tried and tested food I love!

I’m guessing it’s the hormones, the bread was fine. Very odd.

@Lauralozzle strange, hope you're not coming down with something! These hormones do strange stuff to us though don't they?!

I find out on Wednesday... I'm hoping it'll be the last week... but could potentially go over to the following one I think.... I was delayed last time by 4 days so could happen again maybe! I'd be really happy if it was the last week though 😂

I don't know what to think now..
I've started bleeding, a bit more than spotting and it's been there each time I've been to the toilet, the test is a little darker, but don't know if that matters or not.

@Autumbreeze hoping it is the last week for you, and the collection gets scheduled soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Lauralozzle it's crazy what the hormones can do isn't it, I used to feel hungry but couldn't fancy anything at all at times! I just to drive myself crazy haha!

@User491 The tests fo look darker! I know some bleeding can be ok but I imagine this is terrifying. Can you call the clinic tomorrow? Or maybe the EPU? Maybe they can do bloods or something to check HCG?

I'm going to monitor it for a couple hours and decide whether to ring.
I can't help but think that it's bad news 😕
I've googled all sorts about whether the test would be darker etc or not 🙈

I think I'm out.. full blown cramps and bright red blood now 😢
This journey really is tough!
Rang the hosp and they were going to try and get in touch with the clinic and either call me back, or I've to ring at 8am tomorrow if I don't hear anything 😭

We had our first scan today! Back again on Wednesday but looks like egg collection is going to be on Friday!! Eeekk!!

I'm not feeling very positive though. Not sure if it's because of what happened last time.... but I'm feeling super negative which isn't great! At least last injections should be on Wednesday now!

@Autumbreeze Egg collection Friday is great. Just think, not many injections left! It’s totally understandable feeling a bit negative after what happened last time, but this a different cycle with hopefully a different outcome. I think the negativity is just us protecting ourselves.

I’m begging to feel mild cramps and twinges down there. I’m bruised on my tummy from all the injections and I am generally knackered. Potentially another week and a half of this is going to be difficult! Roll on Thursday for first stims scan.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been at work all day.
I'm still bleeding but rang the clinic early on, and following their advice managed to get a blood test done, and get another on Wednesday, so at least from wed night/Thursday morning I should know the definite answer!
No more clots and not as heavy and not many cramps now either, but the heavy period feeling is still there. I suppose I'll just have to wait and see 😢

@Autumbreeze ahh that's fab news! So sorry your not feeling positive about it all, especially with what you have been through! As @Lauralozzle says, this could all be completely different, and try and think positive ❤️

@Lauralozzle bless you, it's been a lot of injections for you! Not too much longer to go 🤞🏻 I didn't feel too much either, I had to do an extra 2 days and it was only then I started really with the twinges etc. have you tried your leg at all? I found especially the last 5-7 days of mine that it was easier for me. I think someone else has said the further on you are with them, the more sensitive your skin can get 😢

@Autumbreeze that's so exciting! I completely relate to feeling negative, this is my first round but after it nearly being cancelled and my low AMH, I have really felt the rollercoaster of emotions too. The hormones don't help either do they?! Hope you feel better now. 😊

I had the call from the embryologist this morning. All four embryos are progressing as they should be for day 3 so I'm delighted. Finding out we had 4 fertilised on Saturday was awesome but since then the doubts and fears have been creeping in but I feel much more positive that we will have something to transfer on Weds now🤞 They are going to call tomorrow with an update and then we can book in a transfer for Weds 🤞

My HCG level is just 47, so looks like I've lost it 😭😭

I've emailed my clinic to see what the next steps will be from here, I will let you all know ☹️

9 more days until I start down regulation! Still feels like an age away. But I'm keeping myself busy and looking forward to everyone else's steps along the way are helping to move time along.

@Sj2505 The twinges are quite slight now. Almost a bit like a pulled muscle in my groin area. Injection was painful yesterday, with a bit of blood. Did it a bit higher up, not doing that again! I’m having to wear my stretchy work trousers cause it’s a bit sore.

sorry I haven’t contributed in a while to the thread, but have been following all of your journeys ❤
I just feel like this journey has so many twist and turns and I can’t get excited or have that positive energy to look forward to anything as the rug can be swept from under your feet at any time.
@User491 I’m so sorry to hear that, I hope you take some time to look after yourself and to recover. This is such a tough journey and most of the stats are against us. Sending you a virtual hug!

@MsSandyToes we had 13 eggs collected but only 4 have made it to day 1, I’m finding this process a little stressful as I hate not knowing how they are maturing and how many will make it to day 3 and 5. I do hope we will have a little embryo to transfer.
