IVF cycle November 2022

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 13:18

Hi ladies

Just wondering if anyone is doing a cycle in November, looking for some cycle buddies.

I started stims yesterday, this is the 3rd cycle for us (2 NHS rounds where we didn't make it to transfer either time) and now we have signed up to a private a 3 cycle package with Create in Manchester. 3 egg collections and hopefully some embryo banking before and potential transfer. X

@hopefulivfer aw I was typing when you send your message. That's fantastic news ❤️ 3 top quality is amazing and there is every chance the others will catch up too xx

@HJen22 That's completely wonderful news on all fronts, I'm delighted for you ❤️ I was the same with the nurses. They're angels sent straight from heaven as far as I'm concerned (and I'm an atheist 😆)

Hm, no one's mentioned day 3 freezing to me. Do you know what the benefits are? I might give them a call...

HJen22 · 18/11/2022 11:27

@countrypunk thank you so much ❤️ I completely agree and also not religious, they were amazing.

I'm not sure everywhere do it and I think it really depends on growth, numbers etc. Like if there was only one embryo and a fresh transfer wasn't happening, to freeze it before there was a chance it didn't make it to day 5? I could be totally wrong though. Worth asking the question. Clinics differ and every cycle and person is different. When I had one embryo previously they had said it had to be freeze, then they said wanted to do fresh transfer just to get it back in and have the "better back inside that out" approach but it didn't happen as it stopped growing.

@HJen22 Thank you, I'm definitely gonna call and ask.

Hope you're putting your feet up!

hopefulivfer · 18/11/2022 12:23

Hi @HJen22 that’s fantastic news! 4 eggs- 4 embys!!! I’m glad the sedation was better for you this time x Try and get some decent rest and relaxation. The mental
and physical anguish is too much to bear at times.

Hoping and praying for all you gals.
Try and stay positive everyone.
Good luck to all those stimming and awaiting retrieval.
Good luck to those post retrieval- a/w those important results are heart stopping moments!
Good luck to those ladies on your TWW. Try and enjoy PUPO.

HJen22 · 18/11/2022 12:38

@countrypunk yup feet up with the dog cuddling in ❤️

@hopefulivfer thank you! I am really hoping for some good fertilisation tomorrow. They've called and doing icsi, we've never done that so seeing it as another new thing to try. We are in the best possible position as a starting point and better than previous cycles so I am taking the positives. Going to head up home tomorrow, looking forward to my own bed and house although it's been a really nice change to be here at a brand new clinic and away from work. I will definitely be continuing with the no work next time we come down. I think it's done my mental health the world of good.

The sedation was amazing, I woke up wondering where I was! I hope you have a nice restful rest of the day and tomorrow, as good as it's getting updates it's also nice to have that break I think. It would just be so good to get a good first cycle wouldn't it, for both of us xx

@hopefulivfer thats great news!
@HJen22 4 eggs is a great result, glad you had a better experience this time around, fingers crossed for all 4!

I had day 10 scan today and I’m trying not to feel too disappointed but I’m feeling I’m starting to get very anxious now, the last twice at this stage I’ve had a few big follicles at 17 and 19 but this time they are all smaller - biggest is 14 so they seem to be growing slower vs last 2 cycles - I’ve to go back on Monday for another scan and continue with stims

HJen22 · 18/11/2022 13:40

@Hopewishprayer thank you ❤️

Oh I'm sorry to hear you're feeling anxious and not quite there yet for collection. But try and trust the Drs and have faith that it will just take a day or two more to get those follicles a little bigger and ready. Every cycle is different and stimming longer will hopefully help 🤞🏻 I know how disappointing it can be when it goes on longer than you hope for xx

@HJen22 Nothing better, I've been smothering ours.

We did ICSI too 🙂

HJen22 · 18/11/2022 13:47

@countrypunk I am dog obsessed, I fell asleep talking about her 😂 we also have a cat who I'm looking forward to also smothering when we return home!

I think it could be a good thing when we have a smaller number of eggs. I'm trying to see anything different this time as a positive. My OH I think was hoping that his sample didn't require us to do icsi and that his last analysis was just a one off but i absolutely don't see it as a bad thing. We've both done all we can now. Science and luck needs to do it's thing now!

@HJen22 That is so funny because after the procedure one of the nurses came into my cubicle to show me a sausage dog she follows on Instagram. Apparently I'd been prattling on about ours during the retrieval!

Absolutely agree. My partner had lots of antisperm antibodies in two of his earlier samples. Last two samples were fine but we decided to go for ICSI anyway. Definitely a good thing to try different approaches and see what works for you.

HJen22 · 18/11/2022 14:33

@countrypunk aw that is so cute!! I love sausage dogs! We have a slightly bigger dog - a German Shepherd haha. I am so glad we have her down with us, she's been such a comfort to me 🥰

That's great your partners two recent samples were fine! And it's also good you got the choice and were able to decide what to go for.

A same sex couple came into the clinic at the same time as us for bloods and already knew they were pregnant after an iui. I almost started crying for them 😂 and they were so chill about it as they'd been testing since Sunday. It was a lovely start to our visit! That makes me sound so very nosey but I mean they were talking about it loudly in reception with the nurse haha x

Hello, loving following all of you on your ivf journeys, and such great news about everyone’s egg collection and fertilisation rates! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all of you!

I had my first 5 day scan (on my first ivf cycle) and got told I have 7 small follicles, 3 on one ovary and 4 on the other. I’m feeling slightly disappointed as was hoping for over 10 with the understanding that not every follicle will give an egg and not every egg with fertilise etc…

I wanted to check it with you to see if my disappointment is silly or should I adjust my expectations going forwards? Can I check:

  1. can I expect these numbers to increase for my next scan on Monday?
  2. did any of you have similar number of follicles on day 5 scan which then increased by egg collection?

any advice appreciated before I start worrying/googling (further..)

thanks

CNizzle · 18/11/2022 14:47

Great news @hopefulivfer & @HJen22

@countrypunk a sausage dog is our if IVF fails plan... Love them!

All fingers crossed for testing @Manc80 . I spoke to Mr Nizzle before about the tests I'd ordered, think we've agreed to hold off until early next week. It might kill me waiting, but as I'm totally symptom -free I feel like there'd be nothing to test just now. Plus I've still got this stinking cold, and don't think I could deal with potential misery aswell!

countrypunk · 18/11/2022 15:31

@HJen22 They really are, they're so soothing. That's lovely about the pregnant couple at your clinic 😍 it's always a boost to see treatment working for people.

@CNizzle Oh really! We have a mini and she's a handful but also totally adorable. They're not the easiest dogs to train because they're extremely independent, but they're very very funny and also portable which comes in handy. I recommend!

Welcome @Foreverhoping33 🙂 I understand how you feel. My follicle count definitely increased after day 5 so try not to worry too much at this stage. I know it's easier said than done, but I'm sure the clinic will tell you it's quality over quantity.

Foreverhoping33 · 18/11/2022 17:56

Hi @countrypunk thanks so much for coming back to me and helping to calm my nerves! Has helped me feel much better.

Nikster8012 · 18/11/2022 18:12

I am on day 8 of menopur. I have very light bleeding. First cycle. Scan this Sunday. No idea why... bit scared 😱

CNizzle · 18/11/2022 18:25

@Nikster8012 have you phoned the nurses about the bleeding? Has your period not completely ended maybe? I sometimes used to have a random wee surprise extra day after I though my period had ended
At my clinic I can leave a message for the nurses and they usually phone back same day, maybe drop them a line in the morning if you're concerned.

Nikster8012 · 18/11/2022 18:39

How kind to reply thank you
Well this period was mega heavy, that's typical for me, but thisnine was 5 days early and mega heavy . I am usually like clock work.... 29 days cycle
So started day three of cycle injecting menopur and now on day 8 injecting and day 10 of period cycle..... I would have expected it would have ended already by now despite being heavy.
Possibly just paranoid. I haven't called the hospital. I have been to three clinics privately and none wouldbtake me as I have rare heart issues, so had to go to a hospital with all rhe right gear. Despite paying around 10k I am 1.5 years down rhe line and only now have I got this far.
It's heart breaking. But I remain positive. I have to travel the country to the hospital tomorrow and stay in hotel for the week.
It hasn't been easy.
Ibhave low amh I am old haha but I have concieved easily before and have kids but we just want the ine more.....I waffle. Excuse me x

CNizzle · 18/11/2022 19:03

@Nikster8012 sounds like you've had a proper rotten time of it!
I got bloods taken at each of my scan appointments, so they'll be checking everything's going as planned. Good luck for Sunday.

Nikster8012 · 18/11/2022 19:07

Ha ! Yep.... but hey.... J guess its worth it in the long run huh !? Thanks for replying and best wishes to you too xx

Crystal88 · 18/11/2022 21:44

@HJen22 glad your collection went well thanks not sure why but I won’t have any injections free days until after the collection

I have to take cetrotide tomorrow night as usual and then trigger at 1am Sunday morning. I have two injections to trigger so 500ml

so alarm will have to be set to wake me up lol

i think I still have 8 foliciles over 10mm so let’s see how many eggs I get xx

Has anyone else doing egg retrieval on Monday?

countrypunk · 18/11/2022 21:49

@Foreverhoping33 Good. It's easy to drive yourself mad with this process, I know. Try to take each step as it comes and be kind to yourself.

Megan1591 · 19/11/2022 13:45

Some good news today. Day 5 results were in. 29 eggs collected, 26 mature, 21 fertilised and so far we have 11 blastocysts in the freezer ( the embryologist said the number could go up)
We have 3 IUI's which resulted in 3 miscarriages. All genetic testing, hysteroscopy completed. Been to see top specialist Lesley regan in st Mary's. Never been able to get pregnant naturally in 7 years. Husband results were poor morphology but not bad enough to need ICSI. Honestly this fertility stuff is baffling. 🤯

Crystal88 · 19/11/2022 16:50

@Megan1591 that is great news

sending you positive vibes xx
