I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

Hello - can I join? I am having a frozen transfer next Tuesday - had scan earlier this week and they are happy with lining thickness. We had a transfer earlier this year but unfortunately ended in miscarriage (blighted ovum) and so we are trying again. We have four embryos in the freezer and are going to transfer one - how many are you all transferring?

Welcome!! Sorry to hear your first transfer ended unsuccessfully, I hope this one works out for you :-) At my clinic I think they advocate just transferring one embryo unless you over a certain age or certain circumstances apply

I have transferred 2 in the past, but no success, so varies.

My bleeding has stopped, still a bit painful and glad I don’t go back to work until tomorrow. Being well looked after by DH and already eaten my way through a box of Xmas biscuits 😳

Hi guys, just discovered this thread. 😍 im having the embryo transfer today, feeling excited but a little nervous. This is our second IVF cycle with uclh. Wish me luck xoxo

EC went well, they got 7 eggs which was more than we expected given low follicle numbers.
Sperm sample shows antisperm antibodies so we're doing ICSI. Now just waiting for the call tomorrow and hoping that some of them fertilised! 🤞

@nizo1245 7 eggs is a great result! Are the clinic looking at a 5 day transfer?

I’m back at work tomorrow and a little sad but hopefully it will take my mind off the wait. Thinking I should have booked Monday/Tuesday off next week but hopefully just resting Sunday will be enough. Im so impatient, I want to know how many are still going, Saturday feels a long way into the future at the moment.

Thank you. So I was sedated in for half hour and got 7 follicles. They have said as well they will be doing ICSI as partners sperm was low. Has anyone been successful with this?

Hey @nizo1245, we got 7 too and doing ISCI too coz of low sperm

@SarahJane10 we were due to do ICSI but they said we didn’t need it because DH results had improved enough to do IVF.

The very simplified way it was explained to me was that they basically select the best sperm and inject it into the eggs rather than let the sperm swim around in the dish and self select, although I’m sure there is a lot more to it that this. I think the results are very similar with ICSI as with IVF.

When will you be doing ET?

Amazing numbers @SarahJane10! We did ICSI as our problem is MFI and worked for us but I think they usually only do it if there is a male problem, it's also more expensive than IVF at my clinic! Hope you all make some strong blastocysts!

Great number @nizo1245 and hope you're feeling ok @NorthernDuckling! The waiting is just the worst part and the 2ww is even worse! I'm now waiting for another lot of bloods so there is always something to wait for!

Oh right. That's what I thought too when the nurse came back with the sperm results. Fingers crossed that the embryos fertilise

@SarahJane10 I'm sure they will my husband only has 2 million count which is very little, I was terrified none would fertilise with his sperm and nearly all of them did so don't worry!

Hi all, I've just had the call and 4 out of 7 have fertilised. They will be keeping check and maybe Saturday will be having the transfer. I'm soo emotional at the moment after the news

I just got my call, we only have 3 fertilised. Booked in provisionally for a Saturday transfer but they'll make a call on Saturday morning whether to hold off until Monday.
Pretty scared at this point but glad we at least got some fertilised. I was having nightmares about none fertilising so 3 is better than zero.

Same here. They have booked me in Saturday too, but could be Monday. Its amazing that we are doing this together? I told my partner the news and he was shocked, cos of his sperm count.

It's going to be a nervy wait until Saturday.

Same, we were quite worried given the sperm numbers but I suppose that's why they use ICSI. They can pick out the few best ones.

I need to stop researching. Some studies say only 40-50% of fertilised eggs make it to day 3, some say 80% or more. It's a minefield out there.

Should I cut out coffee and tea from now on. Is decaf ok to drink.

@SarahJane10 not too sure what the right advice is on caffeine right now.
I switched to decaf tea a few weeks ago but I have had the occasional coffee at work.
I'm a total coffee fiend so it's been hard!
I let myself have a coffee this morning but that'll probably be the last one until I know the outcome of this cycle.
