I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

Hi, I just got bloods results back on Friday and I am positive for APS blood clotting ! I had asked fertility clinic to check this after 3rd loss but they didn’t want to as I have had a child previously (21 years ago when I was 19 ) they didn’t think necessary , it was NHS that checked this after 4th loss .. feel let down my fertility clinic , we have one frozen blast left so I have an appointment with NHS to discuss what they can give me (aspirin etc) if I have positive test again @NorthernDuckling how are things with you ? Were you diagnosed with ASP also.? Hope you are ok ? Xxx

NorthernDuckling · 14/05/2023 21:01

Hi @hopefullsosbry yes I was, I’m really glad you’ve been diagnosed with something, it’s so frustrating that you got this far before you were, but it is relatively easy to treat and if you are on blood thinners your chances of a successful pregnancy are almost the same as a regular pregnancy. I have to take heparin and aspirin daily - the heparin really hurts but I guess you don’t have much choice.

I’m doing well, although a bit paranoid, I’ve had a lot of cramping today which has sent my brain into overdrive and I keep trying to tell myself that cramping is normal and I can’t do anything to prevent a miscarriage. I’ve got my first appointment with the midwife on Tuesday.

@NorthernDuckling , so glad all is going good with you, sorry to hear about the cramping .. hopefully it’s everything getting bigger /growing in there .. yes it’s good to get the diagnosis, and glad it’s an easy treat, does aspirin and heparin definitely not cause birth defects /harm etc to growing baby ? That’s what I am worried about ? Av not had my appointment yet I have to go at the end of the month to discuss it all so am sure they will explain it all then.

how did you feel about the diagnosis outwith the fertility issues , I have been looking it up and it says I may have to take aspirin for the rest of my life ? Am a bit worried a lot that ? It says taking the pill could develop it in your body ?! I was on the pill for years so it could have been that ? Strange huh ? Xxx

NorthernDuckling · 16/05/2023 15:34

Hi @hopefullsosbry I haven’t looked it up, but I’m fairly certain heparin and aspirin don’t cause birth defects. They are regularly prescribed in pregnancy and there would be no way the doctors would do that if they did. You can’t take warfarin because that does harm the baby.
For me the diagnosis was a bit of a relief, I’d been having other issues which can be explained by the APS and it also helped me with the fertility as well - I guess the frustration is because I probably don’t need ivf! DH also has clotting issues and has had 4 DVTs so that doesn’t really worry me - he can tell when they are coming on and gets warfarin, he’s not on any thinners long term and no one has mentioned it to me so I guess it seems fine. If I’d never been tested I’d never know I was at risk but at least now I do know.
I really hope that the heparin and aspirin help and you have a successful transfer this summer. X

@NorthernDuckling thanks for reply, sorry to hear about your DH, but that’s really puts my mind at ease.. I was a bit worried but if he’s not in aspirin long term it doesn’t seem so bad? I know taking aspirin long term can cause stomach ulcers. Yes fertility wise I was kinda relieved also as it’s could be the answer why we have had so many fail, thanks and I hope all continues to go well for you .. xxx

NorthernDuckling · 18/05/2023 17:52

Thanks @hopefullsosbry I really hope that this is the explanation for you too. There is a thread in pregnancy, with a few ladies with APS, some are pregnant, some have had their kids and unfortunately a couple have miscarried recently but they are a really knowledgeable on APS. You may not feel ready to join but they do know their stuff and the treatment/ plan for pregnancy etc. I am still waiting on my referral to the haemotologist so can’t me much help on the next steps!
