I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

So I've had my scan to check my follicles and I have a total of 6. Doing trigger shot later today as egg collection is Wednesday. Was hoping for more but coz of my age (39) and low AMH I suppose it's not surprising

Good luck for the egg retrieval and try to stay positive, I've seen posts on Mumsnet from ladies who only retrieved a small handful of eggs but then went on to have successful pregnancies. In the end all you need is one good one :-)

Thelotusflower · 07/11/2022 12:21

@SarahJane10 6 is still a good number and hopefully really good quality. Good luck with EC.

nizo1245 · 07/11/2022 12:34

@SarahJane10 I have EC on Wednesday too. Trigger shot is to be done at 10pm tonight.

We've had a low number of follicles on all scans so far but today they said they can see 6 on each side. Of those numbers, there's only about 5 that they think are in the right window size wise, so we're expecting fairly low egg numbers.

Trying to be positive about it. The way we've been looking at it is that there has been plenty of space for each of the follicles to grow, so hopefully any eggs we do get will be good quality.

All the best for your EC! 🤞

Thelotusflower · 07/11/2022 13:08

@nizo1245 Thats a great way to look at it. Good luck with the EC. One step closer.

SarahJane10 · 07/11/2022 13:12

Thank you all for the positivity. Hopefully will be successful just waiting on my time to do trigger shot

NS05 · 07/11/2022 13:25

Good luck @SarahJane10 as the other ladies have said 6 is still a great number!

Just had the call my pregnancy levels have doubled luckily, need to have one more blood test on Friday and then I think they book me in for a scan. Hope everyone else is well 🙏

Thelotusflower · 07/11/2022 13:56

Aww, thats great news @NS05 . I cant remember, is this your first time? You must be relieved.

NS05 · 07/11/2022 14:08

@Thelotusflower yes I did ivf a few years ago which resulted in my son and then had Frosties left so used one this time and it worked. Obviously very grateful and just hoping it will turn out ok 🙏

Hi All, I’m about to start my first ever IVF cycle. I had my baseline scan today and the nurses gave me the green light to start the injections tonight. I’m so nervous and excited in the same time, I can’t believe we are finally starting :) Any good advice for a newbie?

Thelotusflower · 07/11/2022 15:31

@bububear welcome. How exciting when you have been given the green light. I would say dont worry too much, take each day as it comes. Injections for example, can be a little daunting at first and then it becomes a routine. I actually look forward to it each evening as i know that means im one injection closer, one day closer.

@SarahJane10 I also have low amh. On my last round of ivf in March I only had 5 follicles, I woke up and they said they had only got 2 eggs. I remember hearing the woman after had 15 and my heart sank. But both my eggs fertilised and I did get pregnant but it sadly ended in ectopic. I’m now back again and about to trigger tonight, this time 7 follicles. Wishing you all the best for yours!

NorthernDuckling · 07/11/2022 16:52

@bububear welcome to our group!

Good luck for Wednesday @nizo1245 and @SarahJane10 , @nizo1245 10pm is a great time slot, mine was 1am and I didn’t have EC until 12 (I was last) so I guess you will be almost 1st on the list.

I got 9 eggs in the end, which is OK, I’m just hoping some fertilise.

DH is a star his morphology has gone from 1% to 8% and all his other parameters are above normal. The embryologist was amazed at the improvement because we were down for possible ICSI but we don’t need it now. He’s been working really hard to improve, cutting out caffeine, baths, alcohol, exercising every day and taking all the vitamins known to man! I’m really pleased there is an improvement because I think he would have been gutted otherwise.

@NorthernDuckling Thats great news. Was wondering how you got on. Glad that your DH results improved so much. Hoping for fertilisation and great results moving forward.

NorthernDuckling · 07/11/2022 21:23

Not sure if anyone can help but can anyone tell me how much bleeding is normal after egg collection? I was told light spotting/ bleeding after egg collection. I put on a nighttime pad when we left hospital and pretty much went through that and still bleeding. I’ve googled and the response seems to be not to worry unless you are still heavily bleeding after 3 days but wondered if anyone else had experienced similar.
Also was a bit groggy when embryologist came round, I got very excited about the first bit of his message about DH results that I forgot he said I’d probably have transfer under sedation. Has anyone else been told this and if so why, because I’ve not heard of being sedated before?

Sorry to hear that. I'm trying to stay positive about all of this and saying to myself it'll work, as this is my first ivf. Fingers crossed for us both.

Thelotusflower · 07/11/2022 23:07

@NorthernDuckling sorry, I cant help you, but thinking of you.hopefully you cam find the answers you meed tomorrow.

NorthernDuckling · 08/11/2022 08:46

So I’ve had a call from the embryologist already! 7 of the eggs have fertilised which is great. I won’t get another update until Saturday (day 5) because they don’t want to take them out of the incubator. At least I can try not think about it for a while rather than worrying about the next call.
for anyone interested, I’m having ET under sedation because I found EC painful (I was oblivious) but they said they can’t risk me moving - I have a tilted uterus and tight cervix and find smears horrific.
