I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

@MammyandAva congrats on getting started! My experience of the injections so far has been nowhere near as bad as I expected.
My husband is doing them because I'm rubbish with needles.

I find that breathing is really important, I take a couple of deep breaths and he pushes the needle in on an out breath which seems to minimise any pain.

One thing I learned the hard way was to let any alcohol from the wipe dry before you inject, otherwise it really stings. I've seen some people saying they don't use the alcohol wipes but the one day I didn't it was really painful so I've kind of got it in my head that I need to use them.

Biggest advice is don't overthink it. I've been on 2 injections a day for a couple of weeks now and it's been totally fine.

Are you planning to do them yourself?

Hi all,

How are we all doing?

Just a quick update from me, I've had my baseline today and will be starting injections this evening 🫣 suddenly hit me that it's all real!

Any tips for the injections please?

Good luck starting injections! I wiped the injection site with flannel, warm water and soap and then put frozen peas on it 15 mins before. I had barely any pain! Good luck 😊

@MammyandAva i give myself some chocolate or a sweet when I’ve done them. Sounds ridiculous I know, but works for me 😂

For me, I am on day 10 of stims today but feeling very tired, though I’m also on steroids for this round. They said I’d have egg collection on Monday but now they are saying they want to carry on with stims until then and do egg collection Wednesday. I think this is hopefully positive as some more of my follicles are growing. As I only had 2 eggs last time I’m hoping I may get some more.

hope everyone is doing okay.

Ss112 · 04/11/2022 20:17

Thank you, feeling better now but still very tired

I start Stims on Wednesday next week next and dreading the side affects 🫣

Ss112 · 04/11/2022 20:19

@Nat4819 How did your egg collection go?

MammyandAva · 04/11/2022 20:53

Thank you everyone!

I have just done my first Bemfola injection and it wasn't bad at all! If anything it seemed to easy and now anxiety has kicked in about whether I've done it right 🤦🏻‍♀️

Why is this rollercoaster so difficult 😭

NorthernDuckling · 05/11/2022 09:35

@MammyandAva im sure you did it fine, I had massive anxiety about them but just shut my eyes whilst DH does them. I have found they have got slightly more painful but mainly because you end up injecting the same place!
@Ss112 I haven’t had many side effects so fingers crossed you’ll be OK. I’ve been quite tired and bloated (my jeans don’t fit 🤣) which is a bit uncomfortable but not had any pain or nausea.
With a bit of luck I’ve just done my last injection. I should have a call before 4pm to say whether I’m doing EC Monday and the time to do trigger. The nurse thinks it will be Monday but it could be Tuesday, I have 4-5 smaller 8-10mm follicles so she said the doc might want to wait for them to catch up. My biggest is 23mm though and I have about 12 others bigger than 12mm, she said if I didn’t have as many big ones they’d probably wait but I’m a bit awkward because I have a range of sizes. I asked about likely egg number and she thinks between 10-16 which I’m pleased with.

Don’t want to tempt fate but when I was told in sept this was your plan EC 7/11, I never actually thought I’d be on track! So far I’ve managed the whole thing with only one appointment at 9.30 and the rest either before work or on the pre-booked holiday.

NorthernDuckling · 05/11/2022 19:58

Thanks @Thelotusflower my trigger is at 1am tonight/tomorrow morning so got about 4 alarms set so I wake up because I’m so tired at the moment, egg collection is Monday, not sure on the time but I have to be there for 9.15 with a dressing gown, slippers, paracetamol and a book 😍.

Ah amazing @NorthernDuckling wish you all the best of luck!! Hope everyone is doing well. Had my hcg bloods today and it was 172 which I was told was a great level for 8dp5dt 🙏 have my next one on Monday to see if it doubles but just trying to stay calm now!

If anyone wants me to post all the things I did in the 2ww let me know 🤣 who knows if it helped but happy I did it.

Thelotusflower · 05/11/2022 21:57

@NS05 Thats amazing. 🙏 hope it keeps doubling. Its so hard to know when you can start celebrating right?

Yes, please, do tell. 😁

NS05 · 06/11/2022 06:17

Sure here you go! I was told that it's good to keep tummy and feet warm during 2ww so I had lots of soups etc! Also read a study where laughing during 2ww helped implantation rates:

Warm food, wearing warm socks, keep tummy warm after transfer
Funny films after transfer
Brazil nuts x 3 per day (did this from week before transfer)
Non scented soap day before and day of transfer
No deodorant or make up day of transfer
Pineapple core day of transfer and after for 4 days - first thing in morn
Zita west ivf cd before and after transfer
Stay in bed day of and day after transfer
Quick showers not too hot
Blueberries and avocado
Positive visualisation - saying that baby has implanted etc

Thelotusflower · 06/11/2022 11:39

@NorthernDuckling one more sleep to go!

@NS05 Thanks! Sounds like all the advice uve been hearing about. Looking forward ti another (hopefully) positve update from you regarding numbers.

When was your official test date? 9dp5dt? And you got your faint line on 8dp5dt? When did they do the bloods?

Hope you dont mind clarifying. Just thought official test date was longer and didnt realise they do bloods so soon.

Thanks and all the best!

everyone else- hooe you are doing well. Some of you may have moved over to the whatsapp group, wishing you all the best! 🙏

NS05 · 06/11/2022 13:03

Hi @Thelotusflower so it was supposed to be 10dp5dt but I got a call saying progesterone had dropped at 4dp5dt (my clinic test oestrogen and progesterone then) and was so upset so I decided to test the next day at 5dp5dt and got a faint line. Tested again at 7dp5dt and had a stronger line and told the clinic so they said I could do my bloods at 8dp5dt. The one tomorrow will be when I was actually supposed to have it.

I always read by 7 days post 5dt you should get some sort of line if it's positive so who knows!

Have had some brown spotting today but trying to just stay calm, it's such a rollercoaster!

Thelotusflower · 06/11/2022 14:31

@NS05 Thank you. From memory i though my clinic test 14dp5dt. Or maybe thats 14 days after EC. 🤔

Brown spotting is not always a bad sign. Good that you can stay positive. 🙏

SarahJane10 · 06/11/2022 17:07

Hi all, I'm new on here. Just wondering if anyone is going through IVF at all please. I've started my injections and got a scan tomorrow

Ss112 · 04/11/2022 20:19

@Nat4819 How did your egg collection go?

@Ss112 Thanks for checking in :-) Out of the 21 eggs collected, 18 were mature, 11 fertilised, and 6 reached blastocyst stage and have been frozen whilst we wait for the PGT-A results to come back. The wait from egg collection to day 5 seemed to go on forever, I'm not sure how to keep myself distracted for the next two/three weeks whilst we wait for the results! Good luck with your stims, hopefully the side effects will be minimal! I mostly just felt very tired and bloated

Nat4819 · 06/11/2022 18:19

@NS05 @NorthernDuckling best of luck for tomorrow!

@SarahJane10 welcome! How are you feeling so far?

Thelotusflower · 06/11/2022 19:31

@Nat4819 Thats great news. The waiting always seems to be the hardest part. Hope your results all come back positive.

@SarahJane10 Welcome. We are all at different stages on here. Feel free to share or ask questions. Hope the scan goed well for you tomorrow.

@SarahJane10 welcome! How are you feeling so far?

Thank you so much. So far I've only had a few symptoms from the meds, like headaches and like period pains as well.

Anyone else feel extremely tired? 😭😭

Nat4819 · 06/11/2022 21:32

@Thelotusflower Thank you!

@MammyandAva Thanks!! I also felt really tired when I was having the injections, there were actually a few days where I had to take a midday nap!

NS05 · 06/11/2022 21:40

Amazing @Nat4819 that's fantastic!!

Welcome @SarahJane10 ☺️
