I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

@SarahJane10 hope the tww is going well. I really hope it sticks for you, by laws of averages we are due a BFP because we haven’t had many on our thread.

I’ve got the appointment with my blood results on Friday and hopefully period will start Saturday so I can take medication on Sunday. Provisional transfer date of 4/4!

@Thelotusflower sorry I didn’t respond to your question last week, the November collection was my first one. I only have this round on the nhs. The blood tests were private because the doctor was surprised two high quality blasts had failed. She said they would usually recommend the bloods after 3 failed transfers but we could do them early if we wanted to. We only have the 2 FET left, if we waited for 3 failures before doing the bloods we would only have 1 FET left to have a go (and the final one is not good quality). We felt paying for the bloods now (£1k) could save us the cost of a second round of something shows up.

@hopefullsosbry have you had the results back yet?

Hey, thank you. I've had a few symptoms but could be the meds. I am tempted to test but I might wait until day 9. I've got everything crossed as I've never had a positive result

hopefullsosbry · 14/03/2023 19:07

NorthernDuckling · 14/03/2023 19:49

@hopefullsosbry i have no idea what they are testing in detail, there were about a million tubes 🤣. Some immune test and blood clotting tests and possibly thyroid (but this has been checked already and is fine). It is whatever care recommend for repeat implantation failure, we just thought we’d go for it. We’ve never had a positive test in all the years of trying so I think it probably is implantation because all our tests are fine. I’m actually seeing an immunologist about something else so I suspect it is that - we will find out on Friday and I’ll let you know!

@NorthernDuckling good luck with your tests. I’ve been lurking back in this board since we were all here in October/November but I’d be keen to hear how you get on with immune testing etc as I have just had a natural killer cell test for immune issues and should get the results this week hopefully.

NorthernDuckling · 14/03/2023 21:07

@Ems123456789 lovely to hear from you, I’m fairly sure they aren’t doing an NK test because the consultant said there is less evidence of that and it’s only something you try later on. There was a list on my invoice of what they are testing - I’ve no idea what they all mean though. I know I probably should, but I am trusting the doctors and when I’m not at the clinic I really try and not to think about it or research stuff because you go down rabbit holes. I researched my polyp and was convinced it was cancer and I’d need a hysterectomy (my mum had cancer of the womb in her 40s and had a hysterectomy) so now I try not to google (but it’s really hard) I love the up the duff blog - she explains things really simply and in a light hearted way too.

@Ems123456789 at the bottom of the post is the tests I had (through care) although I’ve got no idea what any of them mean!

the other option was another hysterscopy (can’t spell) where they put a little camera in because I have a strange patch of dark area in my womb which they thought was a polyp under ultrasound, did a 3d ultrasound and most likely a fold but if this one doesn’t work we will do the camera. The camera can be done on the nhs but there is quite a wait and I’d need a general anaesthetic because I didn’t tolerate it last time. So we decided to go for the less invasive shorter wait tests now and do the camera next time (whilst hoping there won’t be a next time).

Profile 8CF - Recurrent Implantation Failure screen

(Coagulation Profile, Antithrombin III, Factor V Leiden, Factor II Prothrombin Gene, MTHFR, PAIP - polymorphism, Activated Protein C resistance, Protein C, Protein S, Lupus Anticoagulant Abs, Anticardiolipin Abs, Autoantibody Screen, Beta-2 Glycoprotein-1 Antibodies); 2 x LAVENDER; 2 x GOLD; 3 x LIGHT BLUE;(spin and freeze for overnight samples)

NorthernDuckling · 14/03/2023 21:21

We also thought it was most likely immune because I have immune problems, my mum has rheumatoid arthritis and my sister has it too! Also we did the camera thing 12 months ago when they removed the polyp and apart from the polyp it looked fine.

it’s just frustrating that the doctors don’t talk to each other because if my immunology consultant talked to the gynaecologist we may have sorted this a while ago and I wouldn’t have paid the best part of £1k for tests that I suspect the immunologist I’m under could run. So far immunologist hasn’t worked out what’s wrong so I doubt the fertility guys will! I just feel a bit jaded with all the tests and appointments, it’s a nightmare juggling with work.

That’s lots of test, that’s so good they are being thorough .. really hope you get some answers soon, and if you don’t get any answers then it seems frustrating as in away you just want to know so you can treat it, but bear in mind that statistically with unexplained infertility- you have more change of conceiving.. so it’s not really a bad thing not getting answers .. .. like me I had lots of bloods taken .. all seems fine just waiting on the sticky bloods to come bk but I really don’t think it will be that .. who knows .. take care and warmest wishes to all xx

Ems123456789 · 15/03/2023 17:52

Wow @NorthernDuckling that is a lot of tests. I am glad they are being thorough though. I find I have to push my clinic for tests and weirdly it’s my fertility accupuncturist who pushes me to do so. It’s like she has a sixth sense there’s something more to my problems. I also had the anticadiolipins and Thrombillja screening for sticky blood back in October. Both fine. But I also had anti nuclear antibodies and that came back as positive. My consultant said it’s fine but may mean I could get an auto immune disorder in future like thyroid issue. Anyway they put me on steroids last round. Now I’ve had two losses I do feel perhaps there’s more to it so I asked for the natural killer cell test. I knew a woman at work who had 3 failed ivfs and then found to have natural killer cells and 4th round worked. A lot of controversy around it all though. I know what you mean re going down a hole. Sometimes google is evil! I actually found reading Alan Beers book ‘is my body baby friendly’ quite useful.

Ems123456789 · 15/03/2023 18:03

Also I’m not sure if anyone on here with recurrent miscarriage experience can shed any light on cycles after miscarriages. My first cycle after Decembers miscarriage took 37 days, I’m already on 34 days with this one. Beforehand my cycles were 28/29 days like clockwork. It’s weird as I had cramps all week last week and kept thinking period was coming but nothing. Obviously my lovely mind hoped I may be pregnant but all negative!

SarahJane10 · 15/03/2023 18:10

So I done a test today 6 days past and is negative. Not feeling promising at all

Ems123456789 · 15/03/2023 18:13

Sorry to hear that @SarahJane10 - 6 days is still early. Out of interest when do your clinic tell you to test? I think mine is 10 days and on my last one I didn’t test until 9 days and the line was half faint.

I can't remember off the top of my head. I have the paperwork at home but I think it was like 19th or 20th

NorthernDuckling · 15/03/2023 21:53

@SarahJane10 I’m really sorry to hear about the negative test but day 6 is pretty early, was it a day 3 or day 5 embryo?

@Ems123456789 cant help you on periods after miscarriage as I’ve never had a positive test, my period was delayed 3 days after the first bleed following the transfer in November though.

has anyone had a laparoscopy? It seems to be a key test suggested by some clinics - particularly to diagnose endometriosis. I’ve had the X-ray test where they put the dye in and loads of scans and wondering if the bloods come back negative and the next one fails whether this would be better. I have always suspected I might have endo. I have very heavy painful periods (in my teens I’d pass out from the pain or be sick) they have calmed down but still not “normal”, also was watching Alex Jones and there was a lady with endo in one episode who had her ovary stuck behind her womb (mine is like that every time they can’t find it with the scanner).
I suppose I’m just trying to diagnose the problem, it’s a bit like giving allergy sufferers antihistamine without knowing what causes the allergy. I’ve been reading a lot of Robert winstons stuff and he is all about diagnosing rather than ivf and he talks a lot of sense.

Hiya, it was day 5 FET

NorthernDuckling · 17/03/2023 21:25

@SarahJane10 how are you doing? Have you tested again?

I had the review of my blood tests and the Anticardiolipin Abs test was positive so I need to redo the test in 12 weeks time to see if it is still positive and to make sure it’s not a false positive. I’m still doing the FET but they are going to treat me as if I have the problem so it is 28 injections from day of transfer 🫣

Hey, I'm glad things are in the right direction for yous.
I tested again this morning and still a BFN. Gonna contact the clinic tomorrow even though the report says to test on 20th. But doubt it will change now

hopefullsosbry · 17/03/2023 22:11

Sorry to hear it’s a negative @SarahJane10 .. that’s such rubbish news .. you never know though it might still be a positive ?!
@NorthernDuckling oh that’s lots of injections for you but at least you have an answer .. is that sticky bloods ? Think that’s the test am waiting for my results from .. what is your transfer ? All the best for when it comes
