I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

Thanks @hopefullsosbry thats really useful. It feels like me period is coming (exactly the same day of the cycle last time) felt like it was coming on day 7 and eventually turned up day 9.
Im fairly sure DH is fine, he’s got great results his worst indices was 8% morphology, but had a really high concentration and volume.
We had 9 eggs and 7 fertilised, with 5 blasts on day 5 (one not good enough to freeze), so that’s a great result.
I did have a giant polyp that they removed and every scan for the ivf, the nurse has said I have a suspected polyp but I had a 3d scan and apparently it is a fold but they always need to seek the consultants advice. That’s the only thing I can think is causing an issue but I’ve only had scans and bog standard blood tests. We are still nhs for this round but I’m happy to pay for extra tests if it is going to save me having to pay for a second round.

How are you doing today?

@SarahJane10 hopefully your baseline is what it should be and you get your transfer soon! Still keeping everything crossed for you @NorthernDuckling out 1st 2 didn’t imbed (A and B grade ) but our last two did .. (2 C grades) unfortunately still ended in miscarriage but it just shows you that the implantation can still happen with less graded embryos rather than the best A grades, hope
this gives you a bit more faith ..

when you say you might get more tests .. have you asked for test for sticky bloods or karyotyping for you and partner from NHS ? We are getting these free .. also has your partner seen a urologist? They can check for more specific things related to males side of things, also I don’t know if you know about saline sonogram? It shows anything’s that might be going on in the uterus that an ultrasound can’t pick up .. any scarring or imperfections etc that may hinder things ... and an ‘Emma and Alice’ test which tests that environment in the womb is the correct PH etc … these are all test that can be offered that I didn’t know about until after my first two failed transfers, the fertility clinic don’t tell you this, after being referred to recurrent miscarriage clinic we feel better looked after and more thoroughly testing .. your GP should be able to refer you ? I also spoke with one woman on here and her partner sperm analysis all seemed find until further investigation found he had a bacterial infects UTI (or something I can’t quite remember) but that had been impacting on sperm .. so it’s worth getting partner to do quick urine sample to check no underlining infection?

sorry just trying to give you some pointers that may or may not be useful but these are all
things I wish I knew about and not getting last frosty in until we have had some of these extra test done .. warmest wishes xx

Thank you. I hope my baseline will be good. I've been eating healthy and having caffeine free flavoured tea. The odd decafs coffee here and there

@SarahJane10 I’m ok, having a few cramps, if I can make it to tomorrow without period starting I’ll be further along than last time which is a step in the right direction but I’m fairly sure it has failed. I haven’t tested again but I don’t “feel” pregnant, I was having sore breasts but that has stopped, and I’ve not had any spotting or other symptoms.

Just don't give up hope. Keep strong. The cramping could still be a good sign of positiveness

NorthernDuckling · 16/02/2023 21:38

@SarahJane10 how did the scan go? Do you have a date for transfer?
I did another test this morning (9dp5dt) and it was negative, OTD is Monday but I think virtually no chance of it turning positive between now and then. Period still not started so I suppose at least I’m a little further on than last time. Hoping I can squeeze another FET in before my holiday in late April because we are away for a fortnight and it would push transfer back to June if I wait until we are back for scans etc.

Hey, my scan is tomorrow @ 15:30.
I am soo so sorry about the test. I do hope you get all the news you need and do squeeze in another FET

NorthernDuckling · 18/02/2023 19:46

@SarahJane10 how was the scan?
I took a test this morning (just in case there was a miracle) and it was negative. Decided after my negative test we would redecorate the lounge, we’ve been putting it off for months because we’ve either been busy, I’ve been in TWW or on treatment so it seemed ideal today. We’ve gone for light pink - I timed the suggestion to perfection DH couldn’t refuse a hormonal mess this morning! I now running the hottest bath and I feel strangely satisfied - it’s been good being busy today.
I just hope the next one works because it’s so tough - the medication is so cruel because it gives you all the symptoms and lulls you into thinking it worked. I just for once in my life want to have a positive test.
Have to call the clinic Monday to give the negative result and hopefully get the next appointment booked in.

@NorthernDuckling do sorry it’s negative .. that’s amazing you got your decorating done though .. well done you 💪🏽 hope you enjoyed your well deserved bath .. and from yet bottom of my heat o hope you get that positive rest next time .. 🤞🏽 it’s so hard but you are an amazing and strong woman for even just going through the process .. that in itself is so tough .. won’t be long till you get the next one in hopefully .. am surprising quite happy to ge waiting till later half of the year to do our last transfer , I think a long break was what we needed 🥰xxx

Firstly I'd like agree with all what @hopefullsosbry has said. And am extremely sorry you didn't get the news you'd hope for. Maybe take some time out relax and enjoy each other's company.

So my baseline scan went well. The wall is measured at 10mm. I start meds on my first full flow of my period. So looking at about a months time for our FET 🤞

hopefullsosbry · 19/02/2023 12:08

Best of luck @SarahJane10 .. super exciting for you .. only a few more weeks to wait xxx

NorthernDuckling · 19/02/2023 21:21

@SarahJane10 thats really exciting about your scan, 10mm is great right in the middle of what the range should be.

Thanks @hopefullsosbry and @SarahJane10 , I’m actually fine about it, I had a break of 6 months before we did the IVF after the polyp removal as I wanted to be certain it was right for me and now I’ve started the journey I’m fine with it. In a weird way at least it’s confirmed we needed help. I was so stressed deciding if IVF was right for us and thinking what if, and why don’t we continue naturally, I think if it had worked first time I would still be questioning my decision. I’m really fortunate that I have 2 embryos in the freezer and I just want to crack on now. I’m also not getting any younger and if we need more rounds I have a mental cut off age of 37 which is 2 years from now (mainly because DH is 5 years older than me) - if anything I wish I’d gone to the GP so much sooner but hindsight is great.

Oh.. sorry about the typos in my last message .. just noticed that 🫣🙄.. @NorthernDuckling glad your feeling ok .. two frozen is good .. hopefully they both just work 😁🤞🏽 best of luck @SarahJane10 also xx

NorthernDuckling · 20/02/2023 12:14

@SarahJane10 thats super exciting, I might not be too far behind you, I have my review appointment Thursday. I asked the nurse who booked it in today when the earliest I could do another transfer and she said it would be my next period after my withdrawal bleed. This is likely to be in just under a months time because last time my period was 28 days after my withdrawal bleed but usually my period is 25 days.
Working forwards this will be pretty much Easter weekend - does anyone know what happens to the clinics at Easter?

That's good news.
I contacted my clinic yesterday as started my period so am now taking progynova 3 times a day. I have another baseline check weds 1st March. So hopefully not long after that we can transfer our last embaby and hopefully we get our little miracle of joy.

SarahJane10 · 22/02/2023 09:16

Not sure whether or not to keep my acrylics on and my semi permanent eyelashes. Any suggestions as on some pages it says they're not good to wear for transfer

NorthernDuckling · 23/02/2023 17:53

@SarahJane10 our clinic says to wear no make up or perfume and not to use scented wash etc but I don’t know if that covers nails and eye lashes, if you are concerned why not give them a call?

I had my follow up today and we have decided to pay for some blood tests ahead of the next transfer. The clinic call it the reoccurring implantation failure screen and they are about £1k! The consultant said they usually recommend them after 3 failed transfers but as they can’t identify why the last 2 have failed and we still have 2 embryos left that she would suggest the tests now. We should get the results before starting the next round. I expect that if everything goes to plan we will transfer around Easter weekend! My next period is due 18/3.

hopefullsosbry · 24/02/2023 09:54

@SarahJane10 not sure about eyelashes and nails .. can’t see how that would effect a FET .. ? Best ask , oh good luck @NorthernDuckling fir your blood results .. hopefully you will get some answers .. 🤞🏽 and it may help give more understanding into why it’s not working before the next transfer xx

SarahJane10 · 04/03/2023 13:39

NorthernDuckling · 14/03/2023 18:26

@SarahJane10 hope the tww is going well. I really hope it sticks for you, by laws of averages we are due a BFP because we haven’t had many on our thread.

I’ve got the appointment with my blood results on Friday and hopefully period will start Saturday so I can take medication on Sunday. Provisional transfer date of 4/4!

@Thelotusflower sorry I didn’t respond to your question last week, the November collection was my first one. I only have this round on the nhs. The blood tests were private because the doctor was surprised two high quality blasts had failed. She said they would usually recommend the bloods after 3 failed transfers but we could do them early if we wanted to. We only have the 2 FET left, if we waited for 3 failures before doing the bloods we would only have 1 FET left to have a go (and the final one is not good quality). We felt paying for the bloods now (£1k) could save us the cost of a second round of something shows up.

@hopefullsosbry have you had the results back yet?
