I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

Good luck with what you decide.

NorthernDuckling · 19/01/2023 20:03

@SarahJane10 we haven’t told anyone this time, the only person that knew last time was my mum (my dad has no idea and I don’t know how she’s kept it from him) and I’m glad no one else knew because it meant I didn’t get a load of sympathy. My mum knows we are doing a FET but she doesn’t know when. She got quite excited last time and I think was disappointed when it didn’t work. Not sure if I’ll tell her the transfer date or not but will let her know if it works/fails but only her.

in other news, I started oestrogen tablets on Tuesday, I have a scan on 30/1 and my FET is provisionally booked for 7/2 - eek. I’m lucky with the dates again because my scan is 8am and I only need 1 day off because my transfer is on my day off (I work 4 days) I’m having sedation so need the day after off as well.
Have you had your appointment at the new clinic @Thelotusflower?

NorthernDuckling · 23/01/2023 21:33

@Thelotusflower good luck with the appointment tomorrow, I hope they can give you some answers.
@SarahJane10 do you have any dates yet? I’ve been Googling and can’t seem to get a straight answer of success rates, some studies have as high as 50% on FET whilst others (including my clinic) are nearer 25%, I far more positive now, Im more confident that I won’t get my period early as they will check progesterone before the transfer.
In other news DSiS got engaged on Xmas Day and wants to get married in May so she can start TTC - she hadn’t even met her partner when we started. I’ll be devastated if she ends up pregnant first (which makes me feel awful too). It’s taken me a few weeks to process it and she’s so excited but it makes me feel like sh**. My Mum is also really excited about the wedding and possible DGC which is mega hard because she was my only real outlet. I’m considering telling my neighbour about IVF, she’s 87 and the most lovely person ever, I know she’d be really supportive. She had problems conceiving her DS because she had him at 44 after getting married at 18 and talks about it a lot so I know she’d understand. I can’t imagine the disappointment of trying for a baby for 26 years - at least we have IVF but perhaps that makes it harder too in a way. I don’t really want to talk to friends my own age because they’ve all had kids and have drifted away in their baby bubbles and just wouldn’t understand.

@NorthernDuckling we are all here if you need to talk .. total get you don’t want to talk to friends about it , I also feel I don’t want to talk to friends as being with friends can be an ‘escape goat’ in a way, if they don’t know you can just be with them and in a way none of it is happening so I can forget about it all for a few hours a day when with them .. I have also had friends fall preg and give birth , one is on her 2nd preg, within the time we have been TTC .. it is hard and it’s normal to think /feel the way you are .. does your sister know about your ivf ? Hope you’re ok and good luck to you and everyone else for the up coming appointment.

we lost this baby two weeks ago, I don’t think I updated this tread, got to 10 weeks and when we went for scan the heart beat had stopped, it all came away naturally so we are bk to square one, got 1 frozen left to try but going on holiday 1st so will be 2nd half of year we put it in. Xx

SarahJane10 · 23/01/2023 22:29

I'm still not sure whether or not to tell mum in law, my work knows about it.
Not sure if I should diet or just eat more healthy foods.
Thinking of stopping chocolate and coffee/decaf too.
But will ask the nurse this on Thursday and if I should be taking any other supplements other than pregncare

@NorthernDuckling im so sorry for how you are feeling and everything going on around you. It really is tough. Hope you are feeling better soon.

@SarahJane10 You said your husband doesnt want to tell his mum, so i guess you both have to be in the same page before you do, if that makes your decision any easier. You could always discuss it as you get further along and you might change your mind.

@hopefullsosbry Im so sorry to hear of your loss. How devastating. I hope you have the time and space to heal, physically and emotionally.

As for me- my consulation didnt give me many answers. The only thing they suggested is we could try Oocyte activiation. And short protocol instead of long (apparently there is a nationwide shortage of buserelin which i usually use on long protocol)

I think im just going to focus on my health, get fitter again, lose some weight and then re-think in a few months time.

NorthernDuckling · 24/01/2023 12:09

Hi everyone, sorry about my post I was a bit down last night and just frustrated and hormonal (yay).
@hopefullsosbry I’m so sorry it to hear it didn’t stick. I hope you have success with your FET.
@Thelotusflower that’s so frustrating you don’t have any answers, I think I’d try the short protocol, it’s easier on your body as well as something new. I’ve got a load of medicine here that they didn’t use as they changed my meds at the last minute. I was going to take it into the clinic when I have my scan but I imagine they won’t be able to use it. I think I would have some time out as well, but then I like to take time to process things.
@SarahJane10 I’ve literally told no one apart from my mum but if it would help you then definitely tell people, but as @Thelotusflower says you both need to be happy with the decision.

Morning all,

So we have decided not to tell no one again, but only will do if we get a positive outcome.
We had our consultation Thursday with nurse on going forward and have a baseline test for 17th Feb, as well as blood test to check thyroid.
I will be pessaries called LUTIGEST.
Has anyone been on these?

How's everyone doing?

SarahJane10 · 12/02/2023 09:25

Hey!! How's everyone getting on?

NorthernDuckling · 12/02/2023 09:43

@SarahJane10 I’m ok, had my transfer on Tuesday (a 4BB) and currently on on day 5, I had no symptoms/ issues until yesterday when I started getting really bad cramps - paracetamol bad cramps so a bit worried. I can’t remember last time (I was pretty crampy through out I think though).

I was starting to feel quite positive with no symptoms but the cramps have set me back, feels like my period is coming again - think it started day 6/7 last time so not feeling hopeful.

My progesterone was fine when they tested it so I’m on exactly the same as last time. I think if my period starts early again I’m going to ask them if the problem is possibly that I usually have a 25 day cycle and they are using a 28 day + cycle so perhaps transferring too late after my lining has started to break down. Not sure if this has an impact. My lining was 12mm 5 days before my transfer (the day they did my scan) so presumably I could have transferred them because they want it to be between 8-16mm so 12 sounds bang on. Maybe it thickened too much in the next 5 days - who knows?!?

how are you doing?

PS I’m on cylogest pessaries (again)

Thelotusflower · 12/02/2023 11:45

@NorthernDuckling fingers crossed for you. Really hope it is positive news despite your concerns.

Hope everyone else is ok.

hopefullsosbry · 12/02/2023 22:24

all the best god you @NorthernDuckling really hope you get the positive you deserve xxxx

NorthernDuckling · 13/02/2023 12:43

Thanks @NorthernDuckling and @hopefullsosbry , the cramps stopped yesterday mid morning and literally not felt even a tiny cramp since then. Not had any spotting which is fab but I’ve been quite bloated. I’ve got a really weird sensation now, it is almost like a stretching out feeling but inside, about level with your hip bones (or a little lower) it’s central though. Probably all the bloating.

how are you guys doing?

Awh, hopefully implantation happening 🤞🏽.. so exciting keeping everything crossed for you and wishing for the best 🥰.. I am good just waiting to get blood results back from NHS we both got karyotpting so established if there is a genetic reason for miscarriages happening as that’s 4 we have had now .. we got the fetus that I passed last miscarriages tested and results cake bk it was triple x syndrome .. so the baby had an extra x chromosome and that’s why it came away .. so baby was a girl .. or would have been .. it’s good to get sone reason why it happened, just waiting for test results and then they will check me for sticky bloods also so just a waiting game before we put our last frosty in .. xx

Aww, could be all good news. You'll have to keep us all posted. Have you done a test yet or waiting for the beta test?
I have my baseline test on Friday and will find out when to start the meds.

NorthernDuckling · 13/02/2023 19:29

@SarahJane10 not tested yet, but it is only day 6, thinking of testing tomorrow as would be great surprise for Valentine’s Day.
that’s exciting you’ve got your baseline on Friday, you could have your transfer in the next fortnight.

Good luck with your test. I have everything crossed 🤞 for you, and I'd say so does Everyone else.
I hope the baseline test goes really well and hoping for transfer soon too as this is our last attempt

NorthernDuckling · 14/02/2023 09:19

Thanks @SarahJane10 it was negative, I’m a bit down because I’d really hoped it wasn’t this time. I guess there is still a remote possibility that it’s a false negative because I’m only 7dp5dt but I think it’s unlikely.
I’m just a bit fed up, I think it is implantation that’s the issue but I don’t even know what to ask the clinic or whether I should be doing extra tests (which I’m happy to pay for)? I don’t really want to put the final 2 (worse embryos) in and follow exactly the same protocol because I can’t see how I would get a different outcome. The clinic last time were surprised it failed and were confident this time would work 🤷‍♀️

Thelotusflower · 14/02/2023 14:54

@NorthernDuckling so sorry it is not looking positive at the moment. Praying that it turns around for you. Such a tough time.

hopefullsosbry · 14/02/2023 18:12

@SarahJane10 hopefully your baseline is what it should be and you get your transfer soon! Still keeping everything crossed for you @NorthernDuckling out 1st 2 didn’t imbed (A and B grade ) but our last two did .. (2 C grades) unfortunately still ended in miscarriage but it just shows you that the implantation can still happen with less graded embryos rather than the best A grades, hope
this gives you a bit more faith ..

when you say you might get more tests .. have you asked for test for sticky bloods or karyotyping for you and partner from NHS ? We are getting these free .. also has your partner seen a urologist? They can check for more specific things related to males side of things, also I don’t know if you know about saline sonogram? It shows anything’s that might be going on in the uterus that an ultrasound can’t pick up .. any scarring or imperfections etc that may hinder things ... and an ‘Emma and Alice’ test which tests that environment in the womb is the correct PH etc … these are all test that can be offered that I didn’t know about until after my first two failed transfers, the fertility clinic don’t tell you this, after being referred to recurrent miscarriage clinic we feel better looked after and more thoroughly testing .. your GP should be able to refer you ? I also spoke with one woman on here and her partner sperm analysis all seemed find until further investigation found he had a bacterial infects UTI (or something I can’t quite remember) but that had been impacting on sperm .. so it’s worth getting partner to do quick urine sample to check no underlining infection?

sorry just trying to give you some pointers that may or may not be useful but these are all
things I wish I knew about and not getting last frosty in until we have had some of these extra test done .. warmest wishes xx

NorthernDuckling · 14/02/2023 18:45

Thanks @hopefullsosbry thats really useful. It feels like me period is coming (exactly the same day of the cycle last time) felt like it was coming on day 7 and eventually turned up day 9.
Im fairly sure DH is fine, he’s got great results his worst indices was 8% morphology, but had a really high concentration and volume.
We had 9 eggs and 7 fertilised, with 5 blasts on day 5 (one not good enough to freeze), so that’s a great result.
I did have a giant polyp that they removed and every scan for the ivf, the nurse has said I have a suspected polyp but I had a 3d scan and apparently it is a fold but they always need to seek the consultants advice. That’s the only thing I can think is causing an issue but I’ve only had scans and bog standard blood tests. We are still nhs for this round but I’m happy to pay for extra tests if it is going to save me having to pay for a second round.
