I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

Unfortunataely, after the collection I got really poorly. Still recovering.

And to top it off, of the 19, 13 were mature and of the 13 only 2 avtually fertilised. Not the news I was expecting.

But it means there is still a chance so we have to hold on to that.

We can out both in on day 3 (sat) or choose 1 on day 5 (mon) im thinking monday to allow my body to recover a little. But any suggestions are welcome.

@Thelotusflower , I’m really sorry you are unwell and only 2 fertilised, have the clinic said why? What do they recommend? If you aren’t well, would you be better freezing both to give you time to recover then doing a FET? How likely are they to make it to day 5? I’d probably go for a day 5 but if the option to freeze was there I would probably do that so I’m in the best health when the transfer happens.

@SarahJane10 sorry I didn’t respond yesterday, I was at the office Christmas party!
Its as shame you didn’t get any details on why it might not have worked. Let me know when you are doing your FET because we might be the same time.

@NorthernDuckling Thanks. Theybhave not said why. Probably put it down to 'one of those things'. I lukw the idea of waiting til my body has full recovered, but worried that somwtimes thwy dont always thaw well.

The clinic said they always recommend 1, so thats not unique to our situation. Im going to see how i feel later today and make our decision.

@Thelotusflower Firstly I am so sorry you are unwell, I hope you are feeling a bit better today and getting lots of rest. Do the doctors think it's OHSS or the illness is unrelated? Secondly I'm really sorry only 2 eggs fertilised, although do try to hold onto the fact that it only takes one 🤞🏾 However if your clinic haven't offered any guidance as to the low fertilisation rate I would definitely push them on that - could make factor infertility be an issue? Like @NorthernDuckling said I would also ask them to give their opinion on the best way forward and the likelihood of the embryos making it to day 5.

Hi @Nat4819 . Thank you for your words and advice. I have OHSS, but recovering. I will ask them the reason for low fertilisation, but im guessing they will say they dont know.

As @NorthernDuckling said too, good to get your body healthy first, but Im thinking- maybe hedge my bets! Go ahead with 1, freeze one. Then if the first one does not make it, i can get my body healthy for a FET in the new year.

But then again, i dont know if they always thaw successfully, so it is a lot to go through with only one in the freezer (if it actually makes it that far)

So much to think about. But i will need to give them a decision today.

Its really helpful to hear different opinions and reasons for them, so thank you all.

@Thelotusflower so sorry you didn’t get the result you were hoping for, hope you are ok, if it puts your mind at ease any we have had 3 ‘defrosted’ and all 3 were Totaly fine, I think it’s only a very small amount that don’t make the defrosting process, amd I have heard that there is slightly higher success rate for FET rather than fresh, just incase you decided to go for the option of FET amd waiting it out till you are fully recovered, am sure you will be eager to just get one in though after all the weeks for perpetration and waiting ! Hope you are ok what’s wrong choice you make and best of luck, two is still probably not far of the average number of blast that most woman get in a cycle so try not be too hard on yourself , you are amazing for everything you have bend through so far and to get to this stage so we’ll done ! 🥰💖

Same to us all I think we can get so down, but we need to congratulate ourself on even going through the process as it’s really hard emotionally and physically with injections etc, I know some people with infertility issues that are too scared to even try IVF so for us all to even just go through the process we’re are super woman ! 💪🏽🥰

@hopefullsosbry your message made me smile. We sure are 💪Everyone has gone through so much to get to where they have, so that is an achievement in itself.

Just waiting for a call from the embryologist to discuss and next steps.

So Ive spoken to the embryologist. As i thought, she said they have no way of knowing about why there was low fertilisation.

We have booked our transfer for Monday. So all being well, we would like to transfer at least one. So praying that they both continue to develop well until then.

Yes, @Nat4819 look forward to having our transfers together. Do you have one frozen embie you will he using or 2? I cant remember if you have already mentioned.

@Thelotusflower We're just transferring one, our consultant strongly recommended that approach for us.

@Thelotusflower Hope all went well today! How are you feeling?

We had a stressful start to the day as we live in Kent and our clinic is in London, and woke up to all trains cancelled 😬 Thankfully we were able to drive into London. Transfer itself appeared to go well although I found holding on to a full bladder quite difficult! On our way home now, think I will put my feet up with some hot chocolate, shortbread and watch Love Actually 😁

My consultant checked med over and said my ovaroes are recovering and no water in my stomach, so good to g9 f9r transfer.

One embryo was weaker than the other, and may have not made ot to freeze/thaw, so she put both inside me.

And so the wait begins... 😊

Im struggling today, I’ve been overly emotional (probably pms - I hate periods). I’ve got my review appointment with the consultant this afternoon which Im a bit stressed about. My parents are driving me crazy, my dad is the most selfish person on the planet and can’t stand me spending any time with my mum.
We’d planned on spending the morning together before my appointment but dad has kicked up a huge stink so she has spent the day with him instead (like she does 365 days a year). TBH I try to avoid spending any time with him, I’m so close to not spending Xmas with them but it’s not fair on my sister and mum. Some days I just wish she’d leave him. She has her own money so not dependent on him, he has isolated her from her friends and resents her spending time with her family. They have been married for 50 years and she won’t do it no matter how bad he is. There may be a crunch if she has to choose him over grandchildren because that’s something she wants most in the world. Anyhow, I’m going off to eat my body weight in roses chocolates and try to stop crying - typing this out has made me worse than before but sometimes it’s good to let it out.
@Thelotusflower congrats on your double transfer. I’m really hoping it works for you but both making it to transfer day is a good result.
