I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

Hi all, so have a consultation in January as now have to go private, they have offered this but don't think we need all this just to use our frozen embryo

@SarahJane10 have you had a review appointment to go through what happened with your fresh transfer? Mine is week after next - surely that would be within the nhs?

I know not all CCGs are the same and funding is really inconsistent but have you triple checked your CCGs funding? Ours funds “one complete cycle” which they define as transfer of all fresh and frozen embryos created in the cycle (or words to that effect) so my 3 frozen ones should be transferred (unless I end up with a positive result). I’m not sure what happens if I miscarry on say transfer 2, whether they would do a 3rd on nhs or that would be private.

it looks like that initial appointment is basically more tests but I’m not as knowledgeable as some of the others in the chat, is it worth querying it? Can you get a package with all appointments/tests covered as they often seem cheaper overall.

i mean you definitely don’t need a semen analysis an AMH test because you have an embryo already waiting to go!

Hi, we are private and that is the initial tests/ consultations that they done with us before we started the ivf journey, it’s just the ‘bog standard’ tests they do with everyone when you start with the clinic, am not sure how NHS works but did you get these initial tests done before you started ivf with NHS ? Could they pass this information along .. you shouldn't need these for FET but it might just be the clinics policy to do these initial tests before starting any treatment with them ?! I would call and ask them. Good luck with it all xx

That's what I thought too when she offered it. As had done with nhs before my cycle

Exactly as already had done. Surely I just need a consultation that's it

hopefullsosbry · 29/11/2022 13:48

@SarahJane10 can you ask for your NHS files to be transferred across to them .. if it was me ad be phoning and telling them I don’t need that 😊 hope you get it sorted. X

hopefullsosbry · 29/11/2022 13:50

Before our FET’s we just have a ‘nurse planning call’ it’s called and she just goes over the procedure etc and we have to fill out all the consent forms again at each FET and watch the risks videos etc .. then they just book us in xxx

Feeling a bit disappointed - went for my scan today and my lining isn't where they would like it to be (it's 6.2), so have been told to increase oestrogen medication and come back for another scan on Sunday. The nurse told me not to worry and that they see this all the time, some people just need an additional bit of encouragement to get the lining where it should be, but still feeling somewhat deflated nonetheless 😞

SarahJane10 · 30/11/2022 14:27

I've contacted my clinic to go private and got an appointment for January 6th. For consultation and scan, they have said that if need to do fresh blood test too.

NS05 · 30/11/2022 14:48

Hi @Nat4819 don't worry at all I had this with my first time that resulted in my son (mine was 6) and i took the extra meds and everything was fine and was thick enough to transfer! I think it's minimum 7 so you're not far at all!!

@SarahJane10 good luck for your consultation!

Thank you @NS05, this is comforting to know 🙂

Thelotusflower · 30/11/2022 18:33

@SarahJane10 must be good having a date booked. Good luck. Try to focus on enjoying the Christmas season.

@Nat4819 Agree with @NS05 , I wouldnt worry. It sounds like the nurse has reassured you that it is common. Thats the whole point of being monitored, so they can keep adjusting the medication. I've just been told today to increase my gonal-f to give some of the smaller follicles a little push to grow. Its all a part of the process.

So im sure all will be fine. The medication will do its job.

I find out on Friday when my EC will be. When is yours likely now?

Thelotusflower · 30/11/2022 18:38

So i had another scan today. And now we have 25 follicles.. (from 3 at my baseline and a low AMH) so quite a jump. Not always a good thing I know as it is about quality, but hopefully they can find some decent ones and we can have some good quality embryos.

Scan on Friday and hopefully EC some time next week.

How often does everyone else's clinics scan? Ours is every other day mon/wed/fri

Nat4819 · 30/11/2022 19:32

@Thelotusflower that's wonderful news re your follicles, you must be so pleased. With that number the odds are heavily in your favour to get a decent number of (hopefully v good quality) eggs 👍🏾

Thank you for your kind words of reassurance. Hopefully as you say the additional medication will work it's magic and all will be fine 🤞🏾If my lining has thickened to where they want it by Sunday, I imagine my transfer will be around the 11th Dec as will need to do min 5 days of progesterone support (which I won't start until I've reached optimal lining thickness) beforehand.

Thelotusflower · 30/11/2022 19:35

@Nat4819 ooh, our transfers might be around the same time. Good luck for the next few days and beyond.

Has anyone ever had problems with their clinic? We are private and I’ve been told after our failed cycle there is no follow up appointments and I’ve been put on a waiting list?

Im slightly fuming in between the angry and upset of possibly never being pregnant. My OH said we can’t afford another cycle, and I can’t seem to accept that is it and really wanna try again (not with same clinic) but he is right we can’t afford it. But how do I let this be the end when I can’t get past it or accept it.

NorthernDuckling · 01/12/2022 19:15

Hi @Liddy82 my clinic are ok with appointments but terrible with admin to the extent the nurse told me to make a complaint with how awful they have been (i can’t be bothered though).
I’ve got a follow-up appointment week after next, I could have had next week but it would be with a consultant I don’t like so I requested a different one.

we are with the nhs still but it’s the only clinic in about 50 miles so we would stay here for private if we go private - they do appear to treat all patients the same. I thought follow up appointments were fairly standard but @SarahJane10 doesn’t seem to have one either.
Whether you feel you can afford another go is up to you, but I guess you need to know where the clinic think it went wrong to see if it is worth another go and therefore need the review appointment. If they think you have a strong chance of success you might go for it, if your chance is less than 5-10% and it would really affect your finances it probably isn’t a good idea.

@Liddy82 Sorry to hear you are feeling like this. Haven't needed a review appointment for a while, so cant say. But I hope you get it soon.

Best of luck moving forward whatever you decide.

Liddy82 · 01/12/2022 19:27

@NorthernDuckling its not been the best I must say I wish I’d moved after the 1st cycle. That failed in July and didn’t see a consultant till Sept- I just don’t know what to do.

Me and OH aren’t really talking, he seems ok to not try again but I can’t bear it especially as everyone around us is pregnant 😩
