I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

@hopefullsosbry thank you and congratulations to you. I had same experience as yourself two mmc and every time I have a scan it’s like I’m transported back there. Thank you for your kind words.

@NS05 congratulations and thank you. I know symptoms are not always present and I didn’t have many on my other pregnancies but so hard not to look for them.

Yes I think it will always be at the back of my mind that at any time it can all be taken away again without warning, 🫤

SarahJane10 · 23/11/2022 12:23

@hopefullsosbry thank you soo much. Am waiting for the clinic to call me back with a price

MammyandAva · 23/11/2022 12:36

Hi all,

I hope you are all well?

Unfortunately I didn't have a very good outcome and out of 23 follicles I have one frozen blastocyst 4AA.

I have spoken to the clinic for a reason for such a low success rate as I'm only 30 and they have said it's down to the sperm quality - which is extremely frustrating as we used a donor and was purchased directly from the clinic Angry

Fingers crossed that the one I have is "the one" as I'm not sure I could do egg collection again the pain was horrific.

NS05 · 23/11/2022 12:55

@SarahJane10 so sorry wishing you all the best of luck with your FET.

@MammyandAva I'm so shocked by that, surely they should take some of the blame if it was the donor sperm that they provided- cannot believe that. Mine was a 4AA this time around and I read that's as good as a PGS tested embryo so fingers crossed this will be the one for you!

MammyandAva · 23/11/2022 13:03

@NS05 Was that one successful for you?

Out of 23 eggs only 5 fertilised and three made it to day 5. But I lost another two as they weren't a high enough grade to freeze.

I did say that to the clinic and they said that it's only tested before it's frozen 🫣 extremely frustrating when it cost £1300 for that alone.

NS05 · 23/11/2022 13:10

@MammyandAva yes so far I'm 6.5 weeks so fingers crossed.

You would think they would check the quality and count before selecting him! My husband has 2 million count (that's our issue) and even with his we got a high amount of blastocysts. Anyway I guess there's nothing you can do if they won't take any blame. Fingers crossed this will work for you which I'm sure it will!

Liddy82 · 23/11/2022 15:45

SarahJane10 · 23/11/2022 11:02

So I tested this morning and a BFN, gonna contact clinic to see when we can use our frozen one

I’m really sorry to hear this. I hope you can do your FET soon.

SarahJane10 · 23/11/2022 16:41

Thank you all, for your support

SarahJane10 · 23/11/2022 20:03

So after todays downfall I'm having a cheeky glass of wine 🍷 and am going away for the weekend so might have a few more then

NorthernDuckling · 23/11/2022 20:51

@SarahJane10 go for it, I’ve had a whole bottle never mind a cheeky glass and a massive baked Camembert with breadsticks. A little bit of what you fancy does you good and all that.
Fingers crossed for next time and in the meantime just enjoy yourself. I’m not too hung up on my diet, I’m trying my best but if I’m in for the long haul I don’t want it to impact my life to the extent that it is all consuming.
Who knows we may get a special Christmas gift. Im hoping the clinic will get me booked in soon but I can’t call them until Friday to report the negative test which is a bit of a pain because my period will have finished by then.

Hi ladies xx jumping on here very late as only just found this thread.

I am mid TWW.

IVF round one with nhs in feb. Only one egg retrieved and frozen day one. Transfer following month, no joy. End of my nhs road.

Private with CARE. Had duo stim with genetic testing. Far far more expensive but had better results so far .

Duo stim part one, five eggs retrieved, four got to day five, two of the four came back from genetic testing normal.

Duo stim part two, 8 eggs retrieved, sent three for testing, one came back genetically normal.

Frozen transfer November 14th.

so I’ve had three egg collections. This is my second transfer but my first private transfer.

I’m really hoping for a good result this time.

Have managed not to test yet xx

Thelotusflower · 23/11/2022 22:10

@nizo1245 and @SarahJane10 im so so sorry. Gutted for you. Its never easy when you go through so much to get to this stage. 🌹

@NorthernDuckling Glad to see you being pragmatic as always.

@MammyandAva Sorry to hear your news. Hoping it still works out for you.

@Liddy82 and @CR7 welcome and wishing you all the best.

Thelotusflower · 23/11/2022 22:14

Anyone else been on 375iu of gonal f for stimming? How did you feel? I have been getting constant headaches since i started and general tiredness. Just wondering if others had the same.

Thelotusflower · 23/11/2022 22:28

@CR7 how does duo stimm work? Never heard if that before.

CR7 · 23/11/2022 22:31

@Thelotusflower I've copied this from my patient portal. Thanks for the lovely welcome xx

Duo-Stimulation emerged after researchers started looking into the benefit of starting a second stimulation of the ovaries with the same dose of drugs very soon after the first egg collection (with the embryos or eggs collected from the first stimulation being frozen). Duo- Stimulation attempts to build on the work of the first set of injections and increase the number of eggs collected. The results suggested that, compared to waiting for several months, there was an increase in the number of eggs retrieved and also an improvement in the quality of embryos.
The first set of embryos cannot be transferred because this would be during the second stimulation, therefore, they will always be frozen. Similarly, the second set will be frozen because the lining of the womb will not have been prepared to receive an embryo and often breaks down and sheds, resulting in bleeding during the second phase of stimulation.

CR7 · 23/11/2022 22:31

@Thelotusflower part 2

What is the benefit of a Duo-Stimulation cycle?
Duo-Stimulation offers the best chance of recovering eggs and creating good quality embryos, especially for those patients who may have poor egg yields with stimulation. Indeed, studies have shown that for patients with low ovarian reserve, undergoing two rapid stimulation cycles, with each cycle starting 7 days after the end of the previous cycle, can produce a greater quantity of eggs and increase the chance of success.
It also means that treatment is completed over 6-8 weeks rather than 6 months — a significant time reduction.
Who would we recommend this treatment to?
We would recommend this treatment to you if your ovarian reserve has been demonstrated as low, through either:

  • A low Anti Mullerian Hormone (AMH)
  • A raised level of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
  • A low level of small follicles in the ovaries on a scan (AFC)
  • A poor response to stimulation in a previous treatment cycle
CR7 · 23/11/2022 22:34

@Thelotusflower it's not for everyone but was perfect for me. It was also exceedingly expensive and we opted for the genetic testing also which was an extra £2.5k plus £300 per embryo. We tested seven embryos at a total of £2.1k but we were lucky with three normal embryos. Without it I could have started transferring embryos that would never have made it x

Thelotusflower · 23/11/2022 22:52

Thank you @CR7 thats great to know. I tjink inwould fall into that category. Low egg reserve. Low amh. But it wasnt suggested to me. Something to consider for the future if this does not work out. Really useful to know.

How much extra is it for the duo stim without the extra testing if you dont mind my asking?

CR7 · 23/11/2022 22:57

Without testing, top of my head £15k which includes two rounds of drugs. But I can't remember exactly. I think I blanked out when I paid it haha. This includes one frozen transfer @Thelotusflower

For us time is of the essence. I'm shortly turning 42 and my amh is soooooo low. This meant we saved a lot of time doing a double retrieval xx

Liddy82 · 24/11/2022 07:06

@Thelotusflower and @CR7 i too have very low ovarian reserve, I’m 40 and it’s lower than should be. I’m awaiting test day (Saturday) but I’m convinced it’s negative and my period will show up before. My breasts aren’t as sore anymore and it’s freaking me out. I’m terrified as I think this is our last chance. If negative I fear my world will turn dark and I don’t be able to handle not having a baby of my own 😫

CR7 · 24/11/2022 09:13

@Thelotusflower where are you up to? Are you testing this month

@Liddy82 where are you up to? Testing Saturday after an egg transfer? Me too. I'm rooting for you. Have you managed to avoid a test. I have but only because my husband has hidden them haha xx

Liddy82 · 24/11/2022 09:25

@CR7 yes had fresh embryo transfer 15/11 two embryos which weren’t at required stage one with only two cells and one with only four cells (day 3 should have 6-8 cells). I’m really not hopefully.

Im not testing before as I can’t take another negative pregnancy stick 😢. We had a four cell day 3 transfer back in June/July which didn’t stick.

I just feel like my period is going to come before testing whether that’s fear or sixth sense.

How was your transfer?

CR7 · 24/11/2022 09:30

@Liddy82 it was my second transfer, one embryo, a day 5. Mine was on Monday 14, day before yours. Transfer was very smooth. Not had a single symptom. Testing Saturday. They said Sunday but I need to weekend to get over it before the thought if going back to work on Monday.

I've already emailed the dr to find out about transfer two as I'm so sure it's not worked.

I will be thinking of you on Saturday morning. I'll do my best to come on here just to se how you are and update you. Two more sleeps. Sending you lots of love xxx
