I can’t see a thread for anyone doing egg collection early November so thought I’d start one.
had my nurses appointment earlier this week to set out my plan with EC on 7/11 - eek. It’s my first NHS round (we were going to do it in April but I didn’t feel ready).
I was due to start period yesterday but it hasn’t happened and hoping it starts today, the clinic said there was some wiggle room but not much. Why is it I can usually predict it to the hour and when you need it to start it doesn’t 🤯
I would love to chat to anyone else with EC early Nov as DH is already fed up of me talking about it - it’s going to be a long 6 weeks!

@NorthernDuckling really sorry to hear that. Be kind to yourself.
This is such a horrible process to go through.

SarahJane10 · 21/11/2022 18:25

I think if I get a negative I'm gonna use my frozen egg straight away

NorthernDuckling · 21/11/2022 18:38

@nizo1245 i have short cycles too, every 24 days. I started cramping a little bit on day 24, although technically today is day 26. DH is still being positive about it all, refusing the champagne and spa booking for a couple of weeks until the clinic have confirmed it’s definitely not worked. I’m definitely on my period, even DDog knows, DDog always snuggles in a particular way but only on the day it starts (almost like he knows you need a cuddle because it’s going to be a shit day ahead). He did it this morning and I was just a bit meh about it……. I said to DH oh how cute maybe the implantation has worked - bloody DDog.

At least I have 3 in the freezer, and who knows I might get one in this side of Xmas. If my period is now my next one will be around 15/12 (so I might be joining @Thelotusflower with a mid/late December transfer).

@NorthernDuckling @Thelotusflower I'll most probs join you too

I think one thing I need to know is what they are going to do differently next time. I don’t really want to do the same thing again because as Einstein said doing the same thing again and hoping for a different outcome is insanity.
My concern is that I’ve done no blood tests, no scans since 3/11 so they won’t know if I failed because my progesterone was too low or too high or because my lining was too thin etc.
Also this was my best embryo, so it already feels like it was my best shot.

@SarahJane10 stay positive, it might work and even if it doesn’t there is nothing you can do about it. I’m fairly sure having a cup of tea wasn’t the reason why it failed. You can’t beat yourself up if it doesn’t work you just need to look for the positives and decide if you want to try again.

Personally I’m looking forward not having to keep a secret from my family at Xmas, eating loads of smoked salmon and champagne for breakfasts (it’s a Christmas tradition). Not having to cancel our cruise in April because you can’t go if you’re more than 23 weeks (I’d have been 29). I do feel like I’m blessed even if I can’t have a child, I have an amazing partner, family and lots of choices in life. I might just have a different life to the one I hoped for, but it will be a life full of travelling, early retirement and lie ins which I couldn’t do with kids.

@NorthernDuckling I am so so sorry to hear this 😞 This whole process is so hard, please be kind to yourself and treat yourself to whatever you please, champagne, spa day and whatever else takes your fancy!

Thelotusflower · 21/11/2022 19:18

@nizo1245 @SarahJane10 @Ems123456789 stay positive. Good luck.

@NorthernDuckling Im so so sorry. Great that you can still see positivity, as crushing as it is.

I had a scan today, after 3 weeks of DR, so can finally start stimming tonight.

Everyone else- 🙏for you all.

NorthernDuckling · 21/11/2022 19:43

@Thelotusflower thats great news and you just cheered me up! I’m glad you’re progressing, I’m not sure how I would have managed with the long protocol.
I’m generally quite a positive and fairly pragmatic person, it’s not anyones fault that it hasn’t worked and I don’t think I’d do anything differently next time. I kind of feel like this isn’t the most challenging period of my life and I’m sure I will have further challenges in the future (especially if we are successful) but I can choose how I react to this set back. There was a really interesting programme on radio 4 a few months ago about children and mental health during the pandemic and how resilient they were. The more resilient children had a good support network around them which I’m really fortunate to have and I know I wouldn’t manage half as well without DH.

I'm so sorry @NorthernDuckling this is such a rollercoaster ride but sounds like you have so much to look forward to and you still have embryos in the freezer!

Def get them to change things up next time, they should be checking progestrone before and after transfer (my clinic are super strict on this and upped my progestrone twice since transfer). You can also do tests to see if you have high NK cells- my friend had this and had to take steroids next cycle and it worked. Also there is tests for things like clotting, era etc.

I do have friends who have tried straight away and had success the second time though and sometimes it can just be the embryo or your body not being use to receiving the embryo as it is your first time and rejecting it. Def take some time and you can try back again whenever you're ready x

Well I cracked this morning and tested 8dp5dt and have a faint second line. I had cramps and a little spotting on the night so I’m nervous. Clinic have said too early to do beta and to keep testing over next few days and weekend to get a stronger line and then if that’s the case I can go in next week for 2 x beta HCG tests. Holding my breath in as been here before.

NS05 · 22/11/2022 14:30

Aw @Ems123456789 that's great news! I also had spotting for 2 days and cramps around this time so don't worry! I did push for betas at 8dp5dt, 10dp5dt and 12dp5dt for peace of mind but obv up to you! Just think at least you are pregnant and hopefully things will progress nicely 🙏

Nat4819 · 22/11/2022 14:32

@Ems123456789 Congratulations, that's fantastic news! 🥳🥳

Ems123456789 · 22/11/2022 14:36

Thanks @NS05 thats good to know you pushed for them. I very nearly did but I also understand their point re the line getting darker because I guess if it was getting lighter it wouldn’t be good news. Fingers crossed that’s not the case. Are you having any more bloods between those you had and your first scan?

And also reassuring to know about the spotting and cramps. Thank you. I’ve been looking at various threads and such a mixed back on the outcome of those types of situations.

🤞

Congratulations 🎉. I'm gonna do test tomorrow morning but think it'll be negative. I've probably been doing at wrong time of day xx

SarahJane10 · 22/11/2022 14:52

My clinic has told me to stop the progesterone? Shall I take the last 2 today then test in morning

Ems123456789 · 22/11/2022 15:13

Thanks @Nat4819 and @SarahJane10

@SarahJane10 i wonder why as normally I think it’s taken to support a pregnancy throughout the first trimester. But I know everyone’s treatment plans and clinics advice can be different.

NS05 · 22/11/2022 15:27

Yes I had spotting from 8dp5dt-10dp5dt just light brown when I wiped and I had the same with my son so try not to worry if you can!

No my scan is in 6 days I'm also very anxious as hardly any symptoms but j guess all we can do is stay positive!

Ems123456789 · 22/11/2022 15:56

Thanks @NS05 wishing you the best of luck with your scan. Totally understand the nervousness. This cycle I literally avoid think about the bigger picture and just think about each step I need to get through next. But absolutely let’s stay as positive as we can!

NS05 · 22/11/2022 16:03

@Ems123456789 I'm the same honestly, I miscarried last time so am just taking each day as it comes. I'm on another thread 'pregnant after ivf-5 weeks' which is also v supportive if you fancy joining on there too!

SarahJane10 · 22/11/2022 20:50

Done this showing a faint line but think it was past the time frame as left in my bag and forgot to check it

Could it be a false positive though if out of time frame? 🧐

Nat4819 · 22/11/2022 20:53

@SarahJane10 What do you mean by outside of the timeframe? Do you mean you didn't take it first thing in the morning?
