Hi all,

I was waiting for Buserelin to return, now that it has I have the green light to start treatment. I am due to have a scan on Friday to get the all clear to start Norethisterone.

My collection will be early October.

Round 2.0 for me… be good to chat through with others as a part of the journey!

Hi @LetstalkaboutBruno I’m also hoping to start Norethisterone this week with a view to having egg collection early to mid-October. It’s my first time doing IVF and I’ll be staying away from home for part of it (I’m fine with that, it was my choice of clinic). Assuming we get any embryos, we’re going to be doing PGT-A so will need a frozen transfer in a future cycle but at the moment I’m trying not to think too much beyond the egg collection.

IVFGotThis05 · 05/09/2022 10:19

I am hoping to be sticking to the schedule they gave me a while back, So I should be starting Buserlin 19th Sept with egg collection mid October :) This will also be my 2nd egg collection !

Yel · 05/09/2022 14:44

I'm going to be starting my first round of IVF with short protocol this month. Expecting egg collection to be early October. Best of luck to everyone!

LetstalkaboutBruno · 05/09/2022 21:33

@CharlotteYorkMacDougal Hey! Which day are you starting your Norethisterone? It seems we will be on a very close timeline as I am also due to have egg collection early October. What was your influencing factor for PGT-A? Are you doing it for genetic testing or for another reason? Exciting that you're getting started soon, the anticipation with it all being new is something that I will never forget. Don't be afraid to ask questions!

@IVFGotThis05 Hey! Keeping everything crossed, I was a part of your Buserelin delay thread. It is so frustrating that this was even a delay. Hopefully all smooth sailing from here! Fingers crossed for both of us eh? I hope this is the last stims/collection that we need to do!

@Yel Hey! Best of luck to you too! I guess there will be a few of us all having collection around early October. It will be here in no time!

Thank you @LetstalkaboutBruno I started the Norethisterone this morning, no side effects in the last hour or so at least (!) hope your scan goes well and you’re cleared to start yours tomorrow. I went down to London on Tuesday for my mock egg collection and virology bloods and am just waiting now for the last of the paperwork to come through (there’s so many forms!) and then for the injectable meds to arrive next week or the week after. One of the trigger injections is Buserelin, which you mentioned had been difficult to get so I’m crossing my fingers there won’t be any problems there.

We decided to do the PGT-A because it was recommended by all the consultants we spoke to; we’ve been trying almost three years so I’m now 38 (they said higher chance of chromosomal abnormalities at my age). Also, a few months ago, just as we were getting things lined up to start IVF, I had a positive pregnancy test and an early loss at eight weeks. We don’t know if it was caused by aneuploidy, one of the factors causing our infertility that we already know about or something else, so we figured that if we do the PGT-A at least we can hopefully rule out the chromosomal issues as a reason if things don’t work out in the future (assuming we get to the stage of having embryos) and need further tests.

Hi @IVFGotThis05 and @Yel hope things are going well for you so far!

LetstalkaboutBruno · 09/09/2022 20:42

@CharlotteYorkMacDougal Hey! I started Norethisterone today, so I am one day behind you. What day do you stop taking them? I hope the trial went well and the bloods produce good results (and if not, an easy management plan can be put in place). My meds are already here, thankfully! Yes, Buserelin was an issue, but this seems to be back in stock now. I am hopeful that you are able to get your hands on some with no issues.

There is no right or wrong answer to treatment, so long as it's in conjuction with the medical team. You have to do what is right for you with your journey. I hope you get lots of great blasts that are all PGT-A normal!

How is everyone else getting on?

Sounds like it is all go @CharlotteYorkMacDougal. Very sorry to hear about your previous loss so hope all goes well this time. What's the mock egg collection for if you don't mind me asking?

I'm just about to start my injections this weekend @LetstalkaboutBruno so think I will actually be a September collection after all! How is it going for you?

CharlotteYorkMacDougal · 10/09/2022 11:18

@LetstalkaboutBruno Thank you that’s very kind, I’m supposed to stop the Norethisterone on the 25th Sept and start the injections on the 30th, if everything goes to plan! How about you? The bloods were just the virology ones so they were all fine. I had other bloods done a few weeks ago and my TSH was in the normal range for health but high for fertility treatment so they started me on Levothyroxine tablets then too.

@Yel Thank you that’s really kind of you. The mock egg collection was just to check they could easily access my ovaries, I think in case they were in a difficult position or another body part was blocking them. They made it sound like a standard thing and it meant they could make a note of things like which speculum was best to use which I assume means they get through their list quicker on egg collection day! Good luck with the injections this weekend, are you doing them yourself? My husband is too squeamish and there’ll be some nights he’s not there so I’m planning on doing all mine myself 😬

LetstalkaboutBruno · 10/09/2022 14:41

@Yel Oh fab! It is all going to happen very quickly for you then. I am pleased, the sooner it happens the better in my eyes. I am not very good at waiting! Haha!

@CharlotteYorkMacDougal Oh, that is a while on the Norethisterone. I am due to stop them next Thursday. So I will hopefully be bleeding/ready for scan on the 20th Sept. All being well, stims on the 21st. Oh I see, I am glad the bloods were fine. I am also on Levothyroxine! I had my treatment postponed until my TSH was <2.5.

OP posts:
CharlotteYorkMacDougal · 15/09/2022 10:12

@LetstalkaboutBruno Yeah it does seem a long time for me on the Norethisterone! I’m going to be on Bemfola/ Menopur/ Fyremadel and Gonasi/ Buserelin for the trigger so I think maybe they just use more medication overall (but equally I don’t know if that’s just standard for IVF meds).

Hope everyone’s week is going well, my meds have arrived, so other than the appointment to learn how to do the injections it’s just a wait to start now!

badassmum22 · 15/09/2022 11:43

Hello ladies, just jumping on the thread, seems few of us are on the simillar timeline. It's my last day of Provera pill today, hopefully starting my stims sometimes next week and EC sometimes early October. Round 3 for me!!

Tinkerbell098 · 15/09/2022 14:22

Hi all, just jumping on the thread. I started stims on Monday, egg collection slightly earlier than most of you - end of Sept and hopefully transfer beginning of Oct. Would love some company.

LetstalkaboutBruno · 15/09/2022 14:55

@CharlotteYorkMacDougal Yeah, it does seem so! Strange. Ah I see! I am not sure what the meds combos are, but I have a high AMH, so I am always short (super short). My meds this round are Rekovelle, Fyremadel and then a buserelin trigger. I don't need a lot as I don't inject all that much!

OP posts:
LetstalkaboutBruno · 15/09/2022 14:58

@badassmum22 Hey! I seem to be on a very similar timeline to you. I am on my last Northisterone today, then I am hopefully starting stims on Wednesday next week - all being well! I have not been given a date for EC, but I suspecting the first week of Oct, my last scan is pencilled in for the 30th. So all being well, I'll trigger not long after that.

Glad you have found the thread!

LetstalkaboutBruno · 15/09/2022 15:00

@Tinkerbell098 Hey! To save X-Posting with the Buserelin group; I'll just reply to you here! I am hoping to start stims next Wednesday all being well. So I am just a little bit behind you.

You will be probably a week or so before myself and @badassmum22 - so we will right on your tail.

OP posts:
Tinkerbell098 · 15/09/2022 15:26

@LetstalkaboutBruno that's great you'll be stimming soon. I'm still worried if I'll get to transfer this cycle as I have very thin lining (on natural cycles). But hope all these additional hormones will take care of that and get to transfer as planned. Think I'm getting ahead of myself though, need to cross all other hurdles in between like producing mature eggs and getting those to fertilise. It's so stressful isn't it!

badassmum22 · 15/09/2022 17:48

Thanks @LetstalkaboutBruno glad I found this thread!
How are you finding the cycle so far?
Glad the Buseralin shortage seems to be resolved now for you ladies. My consultant prescribed Gonasi as a trigger for this round so I wasnt affected, but I'm sure it wasnt easy.

LetstalkaboutBruno · 15/09/2022 20:19

@Tinkerbell098 Yes, I am so excited to finally get going! I have a pot lining normally as I don't ovulate. I alway stand to get a good lining with meds, so I am hoping that the same works for you too!

Haha, yes! So easy to get ahead of yourself and worry about certain elements of the treatment. It's natural! How are you finding the stims so far?

OP posts:
LetstalkaboutBruno · 15/09/2022 20:23

@badassmum22 I'm finding it fine, thank you! I am glad to have taken the last Norethisterone now, I feel that is the beginning of my treatment started now. So I am pleased!! This isn't my first rodeo, so I am kind of familiar with the process, and familiar with the staff and clinic, Wanda included!!! So I am just excited, I am keen to get going and moving forward. I had such a long wait for this to begin after waiting for my TSH to drop and then the Buserlelin problems.

Were you due to have Buserelin and then it was switched last minute?

OP posts:
badassmum22 · 15/09/2022 20:43

@LetstalkaboutBruno sorry to hear that you had to wait for your TSH to drop, it's not easy to put the cycle on hold, the same happened to me last year before my 1st round. Glad you are back on the track now!! Smile
No, they never prescribed Buseralin for me this time, went for something else straightaway (although I had it as a trigger for my 2nd EC in a different clinic).

LetstalkaboutBruno · 15/09/2022 21:04

@badassmum22 Thanks! It is frustrating eh?! It took about six months. Seems we have a lot in common!

Interesting, I am glad you're able to have a hCG trigger though, it makes a huge difference as opens up more options for you. I can only use Buserelin, I had it for previous EC too.

Are you excited to get started?

OP posts:
badassmum22 · 15/09/2022 21:40

@LetstalkaboutBruno Tell me about it! So frustrating. It took about 3 months for me and luckily it has behaved since lol! 🤞I've tried to limit gluten/diary, maybe it helped a bit, but they also changed my thyroid meds dose.
I am quite excited, thanks and also taking everyday as it comes. Also had councelling yesterday and it helped to put my mind at ease. This cycle I'm taking some time off from work as leave, so plan to relax and take it easy. ☀️ Getting my husband to do the injections next week, he is squemish when it comes to him having a blood test/injection but is ok to mix meds and inject me 😂. .

Lizzie989 · 17/09/2022 03:56

Hi everyone, just jumping in this thread with you guys! We have just started again after a failed ivf round in June. We got 15 mature eggs but only one embryo made it to day 5 and sadly that did not work. We are now starting a long protocol icsi cycle, hopefully start stims next Saturday. My anxiety is absolutely terrible at the moment, and the insomnia is crippling, I genuinely this it’s a mixture of worry and the prostap injection for down regulation. I’m due to start acupuncture on Tuesday, has anyone else had this and has it helped?? Xx

APSR · 17/09/2022 08:40

Lizzie989 - Even my first ivf-ICSi failed with the supposedly best quality embryo 4AA. We just got 1 blastocyst last cycle which was transferred but it failed to implant. Got scan next week to check when we can start the next cycle.

It's so upsetting isn't it. I'm praying this time is better for us both x
