I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

@OrangeBengal you’re always going to get mixed advice so ultimately have to weigh it all up then do what feels right for you. I’ve been separately advised to do Harmony, SAFE and Panorama. But since learning that DiGeorge is more common than Edwards and Pataus (1 in 2000 vs 1 in 5000 - this isn’t widely known but is something the fetal medicine doctor I spoke to is trying to change within the NHS as part of NIPT) decided on Panorama with 22q. Maybe this information was incorrect. In any case I’ve done it now!

I thought your scan was Thursday, sorry. Losing track. Hope it all goes well. Can totally relate to feeling nervous. I find the lead up to a scan so hard but worth it for the relief I feel afterwards. Never seems to last long but I enjoy that bubble for a few days. I think until we feel movement we’ll always be in a state of limbo…

@MyEasterEggs they can do the booking scan at that gestation as long as they get a good measurement so hopefully you'll have everything done tomorrow. Let me know how it goes.

@OrangeBengal I ended up just getting the quad test which is next week but really regretting not going for harmony now as it's much more accurate.

MyEasterEggs · 29/11/2022 20:13

All going well I imagine they’ll date me and do nuchal measurement tomorrow then @chloedancer88. Hopefully they’ll offer a couple of reassurance scans between now and 16 weeks but I feel like I’m pushing it. Not sure why I’m carrying so much guilt around appointments and additional care when I know it’s helping.

I was on another thread discussing the various NIPT tests and read good and bad reports about all of them. It can be hard to make the choice. What ultimately swung it for me was the remote testing. Plus the consultant was really thorough when talking through the pros and cons. He even had negative things to say about the Panorama because all of the tests could be improved so I feel I got a balanced view.

No worries @MyEasterEggs , there’s a lot of scanning going on in the channel!

I don’t think I’ve heard of the quad test @chloedancer88, they do mostly seem to be much of the same though.

We had our delayed second meet & greet today and I think we’ve decided to go with the first consultant we spoke to, she’d see me much more frequently and surgery-wise she was pretty confident that she could get rid of my current scar and not create a new one, which is a very nice bonus!

LT103 · 30/11/2022 13:24

12 we’ll scan tomorrow and anxiety kicking in now!! We opted just to wait on usual nhs tests and not do any harmony/quad test etc so really hoping everything is fine and we get to start telling everyone

OrangeBengal · 30/11/2022 13:41

Hey guys, had my scan today and all good - phew!! Baby measuring one day ahead and strong heartbeat. Can’t express how happy and relieved we are. Have been officially released by my clinic (though they agreed to still supply drugs). Onto midwife and hospital care - whoohoo!

LT103 · 30/11/2022 14:13

@OrangeBengal great news!! Glad it was all fine!

MyEasterEggs · 30/11/2022 16:48

@OrangeBengal so glad little one is doing well. I’m just home from my reassurance scan and measuring ahead too. Baby seemed to have hiccups!

I was so scared though. Trying to figure out what set me off this week as over the last day or my anxiety has gone from nought to sixty. But the midwife was lovely, rearranged my 12 week scan for 13 weeks, booked my reassurance scans and my 20 week scan. Got consultant appointment sorted too. So that’s helped me feel more together and supported. I also feel like less of a nuisance because she suggested booking everything and it’s a comfort.

Hope tomorrow goes well @LT103 keep us posted!

Hey @MyEasterEggs, I think you’ve just got to let yourself feel whatever you feel and if others have to deal with that, so be it. Don’t try and second guess yourself. It seems like you have a solid team around you which is great.

Good luck for your scan today @LT103

LT103 · 01/12/2022 13:51

Everything fine at scan and measuring 13+4. Takes up to 2 weeks for bloods and they only call if you’re high risk but happy scan all ok so think we’ll start telling people now. Booked 20 week scan today and it’s all starting to feel real!!!

Great news @LT103 and lovely photo! Our dating scan is a week today.

You’re right @OrangeBengal I‘ve been so lucky with my care and will stop worrying about being a pain in the arse! Having everything planned out has really helped me settle. I’ll need to organise a wee Christmas gift for the PAU team. They’ve been amazing.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hey all,

Just wondering who's finding out gender or not, I can't decide if I should find out or let it be a surprise!

@LT103 lovely scan photo!

LT103 · 02/12/2022 07:33

@SL42smbc i have a gender scan booked for December 22nd 🙊🙊

Kelvie103 · 02/12/2022 08:26

I've been really busy this week but just caught up and so glad to hear people's scans have been all good. We go through so much worry its nice to hear things going well!

MyEasterEggs · 03/12/2022 07:19

@Kelvie103 yes, it’s a relief to be getting over some hurdles, that’s for sure! When’s your next scan?

We checked the box on the Panorama forms to find out the sex so we’ll know next week. But it seems the results aren’t always accurate so I’d want to back it up with future scans before announcing to family and friends. Quite curious about ramzi, nub and skull theory though so have guessed I’m having a girl. But that’s just for fun! My daughter is itching to know so that’s what swung it for me.

OP posts:
OrangeBengal · 03/12/2022 10:18

We’re going to find out too @MyEasterEggs, if my midwife can do the SAFE test at home, we’ll do that next or the Harmony the following week if not. We both think it’s a different sex, so we’ll see, exciting though!

What’s the ramzi, nub and skull theory btw?!

Kelvie103 · 03/12/2022 11:26

@MyEasterEggs I have my booking appointment on the 12th and then my 12 week scan, my first NHS one on the 13th. Still a bit annoyed my booking appointment is so late, not heard of anyone having it that late before and it doesn't feel official until I've seen a midwife!

I still want to find out the sex of my baby but my husband said to me he's so grateful I've decided to go with what he wants and wait till it's born. I'm just a real planner so not knowing is hard! I'm convinced I'm having a boy though, he thinks we'll have a girl and my mum also thinks girl. I've had really bad acne the last few weeks, my forehead is just a painful red mess and I've heard it can mean girl although I think thats just an old wives tale. Every time I picture the baby I think boy and even keep accidentally saying he. This will be our first and only child so we both don't mind whether it's a girl or boy.

Still waiting for my nipt tests to come back and still really nervous about it but being busy this week has taken my mind off it.

MyEasterEggs · 03/12/2022 14:42

@OrangeBengal this site has guides to each theory thegenderexperts.com/pages/theories. Probably a load of nonsense 😆 but I find it fascinating how often people predict the sex correctly!

@Kelvie103 my skin has been horrible this week. But it’s more blotchy and itchy than spotty. Could be something to do with weaning off hormone meds 🥴 so uncomfortable! I think it’s lovely to have a surprise if you’re not impatient (like me!)

OP posts:
OrangeBengal · 03/12/2022 16:08

Thanks @MyEasterEggs, according to the Ramzi we’re having a girl but as we started out with identical twins, one on each side I’m not sure I’m trusting it, but time will tell! In a way it’d be nice to wait as it’s the only real surprise left in life and will be our one and only too @Kelvie103, but I’m just too impatient!

Kelvie103 · 03/12/2022 17:41

@MyEasterEggs @OrangeBengal that's a really interesting site. I'm very impatient too, that's the problem! Tempted now to upload a scan or 2 after my 12 week one. It's not "knowing" if it's just a theory right? My yolk sack is on the right side of my scans so would suggest girl if thats the left side but I don't know if they're flipped or not.

My skin problems could be related to coming off the drugs, I started cutting down my progesterone 2 weeks ago and stopped completely 1 week ago and it's definitely got worse since then. Just hoping it gets better once I reach the 2nd trimester. Its making me feel really self conscious but I keep telling myself it's because I'm growing a little baby so that makes it ok.

MyEasterEggs · 03/12/2022 17:42

Oh please don’t trust it @OrangeBengal! It’s just something light and fun to pass the time since it’s going sooo blooming slooowly 😅

OP posts:
MyEasterEggs · 03/12/2022 17:48

@Kelvie103 I suffered with acne a few years ago so can appreciate how you must be feeling. It lasted for six months and really affected my confidence. I still don’t know what the cause was, but it sounds hormonal for you so could begin to ease as your progesterone and oestrogen levels balance naturally. Hope it clears soon 💛

OP posts:
OrangeBengal · 03/12/2022 18:05

Don’t worry, I’m not taking it seriously @MyEasterEggs :) and it is fun! My skin is prone to spots and scarring and after getting it in a really good place awhile back, IVF / drugs made it bad again and it’s only starting to clear up now due to a tweak in my regime. I use drdennisgross.com/collections/peels every other day and www.skinceuticals.co.uk/en_GB/phloretin-cf-vitamin-c-antioxidant-serum-for-discolouration-30ml/635494328202.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIr4Kg3ILe-wIVGuztCh1TAALXEAAYAiAAEgLrgvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds and www.skinceuticals.co.uk/en_GB/blemish-age-defense-serum-for-oily-blemish-prone-skin-30ml/635494391206.html (one in the morning and one in the evening). It’s all super expensive, but since IVF my usual creams weren’t working, so I went for broke with the oils. They’re supposed to be especially good during pregnancy too.

MyEasterEggs · 04/12/2022 06:25

@OrangeBengal have you checked the peel is okay to use during pregnancy? It contains retinol which I was told to avoid during fertility treatment. But this was way back when I was trying naturally and had my acne issues so things may have changed.

Don’t mean to alarm you! But would hate for you to carry on with something that might be unsafe. The other products look great and I’ve heard good things about Skinceuticals. I mostly use Nini Organics range now.
