FET in September/October

I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

So obviously I’m freaking out now, did not know about retinols and do not know how much retinol is in the product I was using (all that I can find is that it wasn’t tested on pregnant women) and if this was within the threshold of what research is based on, will obviously stop using now and hopes I haven’t done any harm and join you guys in the rubbish skin club!! Did the clinic mention this to you @MyEasterEggs?! Nothing said to me. Also ask about medication and supplements, but no-one, not even the midwife, asked about skin care products

OrangeBengal · 04/12/2022 11:41

It looks like defects are linked with prescription retinols such as Absorica, Absorica LD, Claravis, Amnesteem, Myorisan, or Zenatane (formerly called Accutane) and not over the counter products. Obviously I’ll stop using what I’m using, but this makes me feel a whole lot better!!

MyEasterEggs · 04/12/2022 14:17

Oh @OrangeBengal I’m so sorry for worrying you!!! Over the counter stuff has minimal retinol in it and that product doesn’t say it’s unsafe in pregnancy but best to err on the side of caution I think.

It was mentioned to me by a skin specialist I saw for my acne treatment so it’s just something I’ve kept an eye on over the years. Nobody else has mentioned it.

It was accutane we discussed actually, but she was aware I was TTC again so said we’d have to use different products.

No worries @MyEasterEggs you’re right to mention it as it’s best not to take any risks. It’s a bit like the the no-go food list, none of it is probably bad, but if you ate something and it went wrong there’d be regrets!

MyEasterEggs · 05/12/2022 12:01

Got the call with my Panorama results today and to my relief everything came back low risk. Can’t tell you how happy I am!

We also found out we’re having a boy. So there goes ramzi and nub theory 😂 early scan could have been back to front and nub still has time to rise for dating scan so could be different this week 🤔 but think these predictions are best taken with a pinch of salt!

I called them to ask about chances of sex being incorrect and it’s 1%. Fetal fraction was good (the amount of baby’s blood they get from the sample) and since it’s male DNA it’s highly likely to be accurate. It all suddenly feels so real.

Whoohooo, wondeful news @MyEasterEggs, take the moment to celebrate and breath easy!! Congratulations!!

Kelvie103 · 05/12/2022 12:22

@MyEasterEggs congratulations! That must be such a relief. I'm hoping to get my results by the end of this week. Its such a hard wait.

I threw up for the first time this morning which was a bit strange. Not had any nausea for the last 2 weeks but it seems to have come back over the weekend. I thought it was supposed to go away as you approach the 2nd trimester not come back and get worse!

LT103 · 05/12/2022 12:46

@MyEasterEggs great news. Glad everything was low risk. And now time to get thinking of boy names!!!!

EandKDJ · 05/12/2022 14:25

Great news @MyEasterEggs !
We got our NIPT (Iona) test results back last week, all low risk and we found out We're having a little girl 🥰.
Got our "12 week "NHS scan on Wednesday, so keeping fingers crossed everything keeps going well.

MyEasterEggs · 05/12/2022 17:48

Thanks @OrangeBengal

@LT103 I really struggle with boys names so this will be interesting…

So pleased you got the results @EandKDJ and congratulations on your baby girl! My 12 week scan is this Thursday when I’ll be almost 13 weeks so will be pleased to get over that hurdle too.

@Kelvie103 my symptoms have been fluctuating a lot and I’ve felt rough over the last few days. I haven’t been sick too often but heartburn is awful. And the fatigue…but I’ll take it it all!

Congratulations @EandKDJ !!

@Kelvie103 I’ve been sick almost every morning for the last three weeks or so, less nauseous in general now though and also less ravenous all the time.

SL42smbc · 06/12/2022 09:51

Hey all,

@Kelvie103 m nausea had been disappating over the last couple of weeks then was back and worse a few days ago, so I guess it's common.

@MyEasterEggs congratulations on your baby boy! And @EandKDJ congratulations on your baby girl!

I did the harmony withdrawal yesterday at 11+ 5, hope to get the results early next week and have a 13 week scan booked, looking forward to hopefully low risk results.

chloedancer88 · 07/12/2022 12:57

@EandKDJ congratulations and what a relief to have your tests come back all clear!

@MyEasterEggs a boy! How amazing!

I'm not finding out but the temptation is real!

@OrangeBengal I've been using a minimum strength retinol, I'm sure the over the counter stuff is fine but now that you know you'll probably not settle so do what you need to. Welcome to the crappy skin club though 😂

Guys, I have covid 😳 i only tested because I'm having palpitations but now I'm having some chest pain and I'm a bit concerned. Hope the baby is ok.

OrangeBengal · 07/12/2022 13:32

Oh @chloedancer88, are you ok?? Have you let your GP / midwife know? If you’ve been vaccinated and / or had it before I think you’ll be ok, we discussed getting the extra jab with the midwife and consultant and they said to wait until 12 weeks, which makes me think they weren’t too concerned about me getting it.

MyEasterEggs · 07/12/2022 14:44

Wishing you a speedy recovery @chloedancer88. A few of the women on two treatment related threads I’m on have had covid and baby has been absolutely fine. Definitely speak to GP/MW if you’re having palpitations though.

chloedancer88 · 07/12/2022 18:45

@MyEasterEggs @OrangeBengal thanks guys. I spoke to a midwife aka my friend haha. I'm good for now and don't need blood thinners at present which is what I was worried about. I tried ringing the GP today but I'll ring them again tomorrow. Hopefully I'm getting the brunt of the sickness and baby is blissfully unaware!

OrangeBengal · 07/12/2022 20:32

Finger-crossed for that @chloedancer88.

First face-to-face with my new consultant today, good timing too as I had some fresh blood last night, all good though. Baby still measuring 1 day ahead with a strong heartbeat. Consultant reassuring, friendly and practical.

SL42smbc · 08/12/2022 03:57

Hi @chloedancer88
I had covid at about 6 weeks pregnant and it does not seem to have affected the baby, rest, look after yourself and see a doctor if you're worried, hope you feel better soon.

MyEasterEggs · 08/12/2022 14:44

Booking scan went well today. Baby active and healthy and measuring ahead. And potty shot confirmed we definitely have a boy in there! Little show off 🤣

I’ve had some mixed emotions coming up since 3 of the 6 pregnancies I’ve lost have been boys but we’re embracing this moment and have told all of our siblings today. Parents already know.

So today is a good day 🥰

@MyEasterEggs amazing news!!!! Another milestone down for you!❤️

chloedancer88 · 08/12/2022 19:30

@SL42smbc thank you. That's so reassuring x

LT103 · 08/12/2022 21:42

@MyEasterEggs glad everything was all ok

MyEasterEggs · 09/12/2022 08:15

@chloedancer88 yep, slowly checking them off. I think I’ll be able to breathe more easily come January. How are you feeling? Hope you’re coming out the other side of covid 💛

How are you doing @LT103? And everyone else?

OP posts:
LT103 · 09/12/2022 09:58

I’m good thanks. Starting to show which is crazy. It’s so strange now everyone knows, it’s made it seem more real.
can’t wait for our gender scan in 2 weeks time!!
