I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

@Bookbug92 happy 30th birthday 🥳 and great news on the scan.

@OrangeBengal uh 😐 where to start! It’s been two weeks since I asked them to organise a letter re intralipids as I’m trying to have next two infusions in Scotland, and over a week since I asked them to evaluate my plan with my history in mind. They’re suggesting I come off three drugs between weeks 12-13 and I’ve explained that I’m worried very little is protecting the baby in the second trimester. Just blood thinners and intralipids, which is reassuring, but coming off so many things at once and just 2-3 weeks before the stage I has my late miscarriage feels scary. I know the chances of history repeating itself are very slim, and chances of a second trimester loss are very low in general, but experiences stay with you. Anyway, I’ve had nothing, which I’m so disappointed about since I’ve said this week is a difficult milestone. So I went straight to consultant’s PA last night as I need answers by Wednesday. Administratively they’ve become more and more rubbish. Probably because I’m not paying for any treatment at the moment.

Started with nose bleeds now. I’ve been noticing blood when I blow my nose but today it was a full on bleed. Wondering if it’s the thinners but I’ve also read it’s common as blood volume increases. Anyone else experienced this?

Oh @MyEasterEggs, yes their admin has gotten worse (they’ve definitely overstretched themselves with a second location), thankfully my recent gripes have only been related to bills. Would staying on the drugs you want to continue cause harm, is this a reason for their hesitancy?? If not, could you get a prescription fulfilled by your GP if they’re still dragging their feet today? Good move contacting the PA, maybe use the emergency number they give us too?!

I can’t help with the bleeding I’m afraid, I do seem to be a bit headache-y now though and I was actually sick yesterday.

OrangeBengal · 15/11/2022 09:17

*GP write not fulfil prescription!

MyEasterEggs · 15/11/2022 11:42

@OrangeBengal as if by magic I’ve had a reply but no letter yet. That was a good shout on GP. Just spoken with them and they’ve put me onto PAU (where I’m under care of anyway) so the plan is to speak to a consultant at the local hospital if I hear nothing by tomorrow. Worst case scenario I’ll go to London so it will get done. I’d just rather avoid the stress, time and cost of travel.

My understanding is that there are risks associated with staying on some meds but not others so I’m trying to get answers. It pisses me off when they just tell you something with no explanation because info is helpful. I think it’s a bit of a control thing with me - I like to be informed and understand everything - but that’s part of patient care. Responding to the needs of the patient. And if knowing more keeps anxiety at bay it can only be a good thing. Sadly, the clinic have created a lot of unnecessary anxiety. I’m so disappointed with them.

Want to say that’s awful re sickness but I imagine it’s also reassuring!

Hey @MyEasterEggs, excellent news re your GP’s willingness to help.

I’m exactly like you re needing to know everything, it’s taken a lot to accept that I will probably never get the answers I want from this process, a child at the end of it all will help though!

Ha, and you’re right about symptoms, I’d been wishing for more, so be careful what you wish for!

OrangeBengal · 15/11/2022 19:16

Had more spotting (dark brown this time), so going in for my scan tomorrow. Good as I don’t have too long to overthink things! They didn’t seem too concerned though, thought maybe it could be the blood thinners.

LT103 · 15/11/2022 20:29

Think spotting in general is fine @OrangeBengal I’ve not had any more bleeding but some brown spotting which is just the old blood coming away. I’ve finally relaxed a bit. 2 weeks til “12 week” scan.
im 11+1 today and symptoms def easing. Just have the same feeling hungry then second I eat I’m so full I feel sick. Like my food is just sitting there. Craving nothing but beige food so but worried I need to eat a bit better. Hopefully this sick feeling stops in next week or 2 and I can do a bit better

OrangeBengal · 16/11/2022 16:15

Hey @LT103, had my scan earlier and thankfully everything is fine and measuring on time. I was told to quit exercising (bar walking) and the clexane for the time being. The big news is that the embryo split, so there are two foetuses, two heartbeats - it’s insane and we’re in shock. Apparently this happening is really really rare. They share the same placenta, but have different sacks. There are lots of risks and implications, but we’re happy (I think)!!

Kelvie103 · 16/11/2022 17:26

@OrangeBengal Oh wow that's amazing news, congratulations! Wishing you a healthy and as straight forward as it can be pregnancy!

LT103 · 16/11/2022 17:36

Oh wow @OrangeBengal that is amazing news!! Congratulations!!!

OrangeBengal · 16/11/2022 18:16

@Kelvie103 and @LT103, what it feels is insane!! I’m a super planner and it’s a bit of a fingers-up to that which is pretty amusing in itself! I’ll come back to earth at some point, but it’ll take awhile.

MammyandAva · 16/11/2022 18:38

Hi @Kelvie103 just a quick update.

I had my EC today, the final count was 23 so definitely doing a freeze all with transfer in jan/Feb - slightly disheartening but I know it's the safest thing to do.

I slightly underestimated the after pain/discomfort 😭 I can barely stand up straight at the moment

chloedancer88 · 16/11/2022 18:40

@OrangeBengal wow!!!! So are they MCDA twins? That's so so exciting!!!! Glad to hear everything is going so well x

OrangeBengal · 16/11/2022 19:02

Hey @chloedancer88, yes, identical, sharing a placenta, with their own sacks! Consultant said this was the safest of the ‘high-risk’ options, which is something. Means more monitoring I think and I need to looked after by a Foetal Medicine Unit, which luckily the place we were planning on going to has. I’m back at the clinic next Friday to see how things are going.

MyEasterEggs · 16/11/2022 20:31

Wow @OrangeBengal what a lovely surprise for you both!!! I can only imagine how you felt as you watched on and were told the news. Congratulations 💛💛

chloedancer88 · 16/11/2022 20:33

@OrangeBengal do you have a scan pic? That's so exciting! Yes, the most high risk is MCMA, as that can lead to twin-to-twin-transfusion where one twin takes all the nutrients from the other so you're not at risk of that luckily but it'll be a nice reassurance to have that extra fetal monitoring in pregnancy!

Bookbug92 · 16/11/2022 20:37

Massive congratulations @OrangeBengal how exciting!!

OrangeBengal · 16/11/2022 21:00

Thanks guys @MyEasterEggs, @Bookbug92 and @chloedancer88, here’s pic. It’s quite hard to see them both clearly at once. We have a vid of the heartbeats, which is lovely.

@OrangeBengal I'm over the moon for you! Our first twins on here!❤️

OrangeBengal · 16/11/2022 21:56

Thanks @chloedancer88

SL42smbc · 17/11/2022 09:11

Congratulations @OrangeBengal that's amazing news!

EandKDJ · 17/11/2022 15:20

Fabulous news @OrangeBengal !

OrangeBengal · 17/11/2022 15:25

Thanks @SL42smbc and @EandKDJ! I’ve spent today trying to set to up ‘meet & greets’ with private consultants linked to foetal medicine units. I’ve been looking at the Kensington Wing, but if anyone has any recommendations for anywhere else, please let me know.

Bookbug92 · 18/11/2022 11:30

Morning ladies, I'm not having a very good day, I've been very nauseous/sick for three weeks now and I've woken up this morning and don't feel sick at all, and my boob tenderness has gone 😔 obviously freaking out now. Has anyone else had a random day of their symptoms disappearing?
I also appreciate that it's only 11:30 but this isn't normal for me.

hopefullsosbry · 18/11/2022 12:32

Hi, hope I can put your mind at ease a bit, when I was preg with my daughter, my symptoms came and went, some days I felt great, full of energy etc and others rubbish, the sickness will only last the 1st trimester usually so depending on how many weeks you are it may just be easing up for you a little ? Hope you are ok and everything will be fine ☺️
