FET in September/October

I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

Oh @MyEasterEggs I’m made up for you, numbers look good!

I’m feeling pretty good actually, first time I’ve not needed an additional dose of progesterone pre-transfer, my level was 111 on Monday - whoohoo! I also feel validated as I didn’t accept the Prontogest recommendation.

SarahC1985 · 18/10/2022 21:10

@dlkiik I had fresh red bleeding at 5 and 6 weeks. It seems common enough but I would contact your early pregnancy clinic just to be sure x

MyEasterEggs · 19/10/2022 02:43

@dlkiik not sure if you’ll remember but I experienced some light pink spotting last week. Called the PAU and clinic and both were very reassuring. They put it down to implantation but do keep an eye on it 💛

@OrangeBengal glad you advocated for yourself and are feeling positive. Got everything crossed for a smooth transfer! I’m quite an anxious person when it comes to procedures but it was strangely meditative. Sure the nurses thought I was mad, laid up with my eyes closed doing breathing exercises!

Ha, whatever works ay @MyEasterEggs. I’ll be doing my visualisation before I leave the house and will evoke it during the procedure. I’m pretty interested to see what pre- and post-transfer acupuncture is too, how differs from my weekly sessions.

dlkiik · 19/10/2022 08:42

@MyEasterEggs did your clinic see you? I don't get blood tests at my clinic so when I rang she said it could be irritation from the pessarys and is common. Still got brown discharge this morning 😫 how long did yours last for?

EandKDJ · 19/10/2022 08:56

Hi ladies, I'm just looking for some advice. I'm 5 weeks 4 days now, not got my scan until next Wednesday. Over the last 2 days my breast symptoms have pretty much disappeared. Prior to that I've had very heavy/sore breasts and now nothing. Should I be preparing myself for the worst?

My clinic is in London and I’m in the Scottish Borders so haven’t seen them since FET. My local PAU didn’t offer to see me either but both assured me it was likely implantation as it was just a tiny amount of pink spotting. If there’s a chance you’re experiencing irritation from the pessaries - sounds like maybe you were yesterday and old brown blood could suggest it’s healing? - I’d recommend popping them up the bum. Most of us on the ERA thread do that. Wish I could offer more reassurance. I’ve woken up with an ache in my shoulder so if course my mind is wandering to ectopic. The worry is never ending…

Symptoms can come and go so it’s hard to say. Some days my boobs feel much heavier and achier than others and I put that down to fluctuations in hormone levels. I’m on a lot of drugs so I suspect that goes some way to explaining changes. Was your second HCG result okay?

EandKDJ · 19/10/2022 09:19

I'm on lots of meds too, utrogestan three times daily and prontogest injections every 3rd day plus evorel patches, so Its increasing my anxiety that my boobs aren't as sore.

My second blood test was good it had gone from 855 (d14pt) to 2005 (d16pt) in 48hrs.

I'm just getting myself in a bit of a panic. I've messaged the clinic but they've not really said whether it's normal or not.

MyEasterEggs · 19/10/2022 09:27

If you’re on prontogest every third day perhaps your symptoms increase after the injections then de ease in the days afterwards? I can totally understand why you would feel panicked. I’ve been there myself. But some folk have few symptoms. That was the case for me with my first pregnancy and that’s been my only successful one. Such a hard road. Hang in there 💛

@EandKDJ
Just a little reassurance. I hit 5.5 weeks and my boobs stopped hurting (only symptom to the point and on progesterone). I also panicked and googled. Booked 6 weeks scan. Still had no symptoms that day. I expected bad news. Scan was great and I’ve also had a 7 week scan and also great. I’m 7.1 weeks. My symptoms are just starting really, boobs only slightly sore again but they still come and go usually sore end of the day. Nausea and real fatigue has started this week and today I was actually sick. Thought I wanted that symptom 😷 hope this helps you relax a little.

Hi everyone,

I had my egg collection in late September, we've just got our PGT-A results back and I will be having my FET next week. It's my first one, so feeling very nervous. Anyone else in a similar position?

x

EandKDJ · 19/10/2022 15:33

Thanks so much that is really reassuring! Also huge congratulations on your scans

Hopefull1981 · 19/10/2022 16:55

Hi ladies,

so much good news on this thread. I have my second FET on Monday after a small panic over my lining. I am starting progesterone tonight. The pharmacist gave me 10 x 2ml syringes and said to re use them. Do you guys reuse the syringe? I threw them out each time on my last transfer. I was told there was a shortage.

thanks 😊

OrangeBengal · 19/10/2022 19:50

Oh gosh, I’m not liking the idea of reusing needles @Hopefull1981. I’m assuming he means the larger needles that suck up the solution, but still a bit icky. Do not reuse small needles that go into your skin.

So, I’m officially PUPO now @MyEasterEggs and the most chilled I have ever been. Pre-and post-transfer acupuncture was good, though head needles are part of the former which is a little strange! I’ll start testing from Sunday.

Hope all is good with everyone else.

MyEasterEggs · 19/10/2022 20:19

@Hopefull1981 can you ask your GP surgery for some? One of the nurses offered me a box. I throw away the one I draw up with and the one I inject with.

@OrangeBengal brilliant news. Will be keeping everything crossed for you 💛

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question, I have started my northisterone today and will be starting my injections next week.

I have seen a few posts about people testing pre transfer (during injections I think) can I ask what this is for please?

Anyones help would be great as I want to ensure I'm doing everything I can

Thank you 😊

LT103 · 19/10/2022 20:54

Congratulations @OrangeBengal hope you have a nice relaxing 2 weeks. When is test day?

OrangeBengal · 19/10/2022 22:00

Thanks @MyEasterEggs and @LT103, OTD is the 29th but as I have (hopefully had) an implantation problem and I’ve never tested before 8dpt, I want to test early to see if anything may be happening before this.

MyEasterEggs · 20/10/2022 06:39

@MammyandAva do you mean oestrogen and progesterone levels? I thought it was normal to check both throughout a cycle but could be wrong. My clinic tested both on day 10 then progesterone on days 12 and 14 as they wanted to get my progesterone levels above 100. I think that’s quite unusual though - some clinics are happy with 50, some with 30, and some don’t test it at all. It really various. I don’t know much about northisterone but wonder if it means you’re on a long protocol? I imagine this might alter levels so would change how the clinic (or NHS?) approaches things. I was on short 🙂

OP posts:
LT103 · 20/10/2022 08:07

@MyEasterEggs i think it varies as my clinic never tested mine at all. I did a freeze all so during stims I only had one scan and bloods to check for when to trigger.
for transfer they didn’t check anything other than to detect ovulation. But that’s maybe because it was a natural cycle. I wasn’t on any progesterone so they didn’t check.

i still don’t understand how it worked. My progesterone when checked with go was at best borderline. I was always convinced it was a problem and why I spotted but they said no

LT103 · 20/10/2022 08:09

Also I had norethisterone and it was really just to hold period off to time that suited clinic. Once you come off it you will have a bleed then start stims

MyEasterEggs · 21/10/2022 13:29

Had my first scan this morning and the relief I felt at seeing a pregnancy in the right place with a tiny wee heartbeat was something else. It was such a happy moment and I’m glad I allowed myself to feel a little joy. Still a long way to go to get to 16 weeks, which will probably be the trickiest milestone, but we’re over another hurdle. Back in London for intralipids on Monday then next scan at 8 weeks.

Hope everyone else is doing okay today. I know it’s an uncertain time for us all. Keep growing little ones 💛
