IVF August 2022

Might be a bit early for this thread, but is anyone else planning to start an IVF round in August?

I'm having tubes checked later this month, planning to try naturally for one month then back to the IVF again.

This will be my third round. I have a daughter from my first. The second, which was a FET, ended in a miscarriage. Sadly I have no embryos frozen so this will be a fresh cycle.

Hi @Longbin ! I'm doing long protocol starting beginning of August! Yay.

We have 2 more natural tries and then that's it. IVF it is.

How did you find your first round and was it long or short protocol? X

Lauralozzle · 10/06/2022 08:20

Hi, I’m hoping come August I’ll be on my IVF round so I’d like the join!

Had my tests done at hospital, have a scan and consultant appointment later on this month re IVF, fingers crossed IVF will start around August time after that though it is a bit of a guess!

Longbin · 12/06/2022 08:52

I did short protocol last time but think I will change clinic and do long this time around.

I found it fine up until embryo transfer, so might do a freeze all this time around and go back to it again a few months after. Still so much to decide!

I’ll be with you ladies 😊 i did two fresh cycles at the start of this year, both BFN. I hated the medication for the transfer part, so I changed to a duo-stim freeze all cycle that I’ve just finished, and will do another one starting in august before doing the transfers. I have two in the freezer from this round, but was hoping for more, so hopefully august will be luckier 🤞🏻

Longbin · 12/06/2022 13:27

@LuckyNovember I don't know much about the duo stim but I will look into this! My initial aim is to get as many embryos frozen as possible, so I might also do a couple of rounds before a transfer

Hi everyone! I will hopefully be on the same boat August! Would really enjoy staying on this thread with all of you and share my experiences.
xx

Hi guys, amazingly last week I got my BFP after about 15 cycles with IVF scheduled in August. I was pregnant at our nurse appointment without knowing it. Keep the hope 💕. I'm keeping everything crossed as it's still early days.

Lauralozzle · 21/06/2022 06:52

@FlyOnTheWall89 congratulations!! That is super exciting!

Dobcaty · 21/06/2022 17:05

@FlyOnTheWall89 that's an incredible good news! I am so pleased for you! Just texted to DH to tell, yes magical things happen everyday! 💫

IVFGotThis05 · 21/06/2022 17:35

I will hop on here! I love a new thread 😂I will most likely be starting my 2nd Long protocol IVF cycle end of July/early August! Whenever AF shows up after my follow up appointment !

Longbin · 21/06/2022 20:15

Congratulations @flyonthewall89!

I had a consultation with a new clinic today but have decided to stick to the old one as they said I would have to do scans the month before and the month of the medication, sounded a bit long winded for me as I'm running out of patience with it 😂

I have a laparoscopy on Friday, bit nervous that they are going to tell me I have to wait longer to start the IVF. Does anyone know how long it's meant to be?

Ivfhopeful22 · 22/06/2022 16:45

Hi everyone hope it’s ok I join.

I had my first cycle of IVF in Feb this year which was a freeze all round. We’ve not done a transfer yet but planning for our first FET to be in August.

@Longbin I had a laparoscopy on the 7th December last year and started my injections on 31st Jan so wasn’t long in between. Hope you’re lap goes ok.

MyEasterEggs · 22/06/2022 17:01

Hope you won’t mind me joining. We started IVF this year and have three PGT-A tested embryos on ice. First FET planned for August. I’m terrified as I’ve had six miscarriages. But I also have a little girl who was born before we experienced any problems so she gives us hope. Good luck everyone 💛

IVFGotThis05 · 22/06/2022 17:11

This might sound like such a silly question but what reasons do people get the testing done on embryos? I haven't had anyone mention any testing to me yet so I've not considered anything like that. Is it worth me looking into anyway ?

Minamina · 22/06/2022 19:59

Do you mean PGD testing? It's precaution for preimplantation genetic diagnosis and can detect specific disorders, abnormalities in chromosomes etc. It also reduces the risk of miscarriage. hope this helps! I've done some research on it. I am constantly amazed at how far science has come!
xx

Ivfhopeful22 · 22/06/2022 20:19

@MyEasterEggs Hi 😊 we’re at a similar stage, I had my egg collection earlier in the year and have 4 embryos on ice. We also did PGT-A and are planning a FET in August.

@IVFGotThis05 the main reasons we were told were unexplained reoccurring miscarriage, being over 35 or having any known genetic abnormalities that can be passed on. None of these applied to us so we weren’t advised to do the testing but for peace of mind we decided we would do it. If it’s not been mentioned you may not fall into any of those categories but it’s worth asking if you want to know more.
It turned out our only 5AA graded embryo (the one they’d have transferred first) actually had abnormal cells and would never have implanted so we’re glad we did it.

@Minamina I think PGD and PGT-A are slightly different to each other, but you’re right it’s amazing what they can do these days.

Longbin · 22/06/2022 22:02

@Ivfhopeful22 that's long at all, hopefully they will let me start as quickly! Was it one bleed, then start injections on the following bleed?

@IVFGotThis05 clinic don't offer embryo testing of any kind as it's more of a generic cheaper one.

Ivfhopeful22 · 23/06/2022 09:35

@Longbin yeah exactly that. My gynaecologist said there was no reason I couldn’t start the IVF straight away so hopefully you will be the same. Hope it all goes well for you

MyEasterEggs · 23/06/2022 09:39

@Ivfhopeful22 when in August do you think you might have the FET? I had a hysteroscopy yesterday where they also did endometrio testing so I’m just awaiting results of that before I make firm plans. But, all going well, I think we’re looking at end of August.

@IVFGotThis05 I’m 38 and have had multiple losses including a stillbirth in the second trimester. At least one of our babies had a genetic abnormality. So these are our main reasons for going down the IVF route. We can get pregnant naturally but with so many miscarriages behind us I had to take a different approach this time. Three of our seven embryos were normal so, all things considered, it was worthwhile for us.

@Minamina PGT-A used to be known as PGS and looks at chromosomes. It’s been useful in my case as one of my babies had trisomy 15, so three copies of chromosome 15, and wouldn’t have survived. PGD is now known as PGT-M and diagnoses specific genetic diseases like sickle cell, muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s as well as things like diabetes or heart disease. It’s more focused and specific and usually based on family history.

Phrenologistsfinger · 23/06/2022 09:44

Yes, starting round 4 of stims in early August for embryo banking and pgta. Have a euploid and a usable mosaic on ice plus 3 abnormals. No transfers yet. Bit over it tbh but not ready to stop give up yet.

Phrenologistsfinger · 23/06/2022 09:46

We are pgta testing due to recurrent miscarriages and age (almost 40). But I haven’t ruled out the last chance saloon option of shipping our abnormals to the US for transfer…

IVFGotThis05 · 23/06/2022 11:42

Oh wow! I have a lot to think about then. I haven't suffered anything like a few of you have ! What a tough time for you all! Wishing you all the success with your transfers when it comes to it. Hopefully I will be around on here to hear about it and cheer you all along.

I'm 33 and have had 3 failed transfers, nothing decided to implant ! So I might mention testing at my follow up anyway to see if it was something they would consider or if I could pay for maybe. I have another 2 NHS funded cycles left and don't know if any testing is included.

MyEasterEggs · 23/06/2022 16:26

@Phrenologistsfinger you’re with The Evewell too, right?

Phrenologistsfinger · 23/06/2022 17:12

@MyEasterEggs yes, that’s right! Are you as well?

MyEasterEggs · 23/06/2022 18:08

Recognised your name @Phrenologistsfinger and yes I’ve been with them since January. Had egg collection April, endometrio/immune testing yesterday and planning to take a break this upcoming cycle while I wait on results. Maybe we’ve seen each other 😃
