IVF August 2022

Might be a bit early for this thread, but is anyone else planning to start an IVF round in August?

I'm having tubes checked later this month, planning to try naturally for one month then back to the IVF again.

This will be my third round. I have a daughter from my first. The second, which was a FET, ended in a miscarriage. Sadly I have no embryos frozen so this will be a fresh cycle.

@Longbin sorry one more question - what do you mean by mental side effects of Clomid? What sort of side effects did you get and for how long?

Longbin · 25/07/2022 17:49

@Tinkerbell098 I purchased it in a pharmacy abroad, so I knew it was legit. I've told my clinic I'm pregnant, I told them I had taken clomid when I had my scan but they didn't realise it wasn't prescribed.

I felt like I was losing my mind on clomid! So angry and depressed, I felt sick constantly, had a headache and tired. It felt like it was never going to end and I was going to live a life of misery. I've only just started feeling normal again the last few days! Mentally I felt fine from IVF!

Hey! Totally new here. I’m having egg collection in a couple of weeks. Have just realised tonight that I should’ve stopped taking the pill (microgynon) on Friday 22nd. I’m really worried I’ve messed this up as I have a scan and supposed to start ovaleap injections on Thursday !

Girlanon · 28/07/2022 21:46

Hi ladies, how are you all getting on? I’m on day 4 of ovaleap injections, all going well so far! X

Phrenologistsfinger · 29/07/2022 00:01

We’ve postponed our cycle as we both got covid quite badly at the start of July. It affects embryo quality unless you wait 3 months and our embryos are already poor pre-covid! Might be sept or oct, depending on how stressed we get waiting, as I just turned 40….

Phrenologistsfinger · 29/07/2022 00:02

Best of luck to those going through it 💐

Girlanon · 30/07/2022 11:23

I only have a few more days of ova leap (& fyremadel) injections left before my check scan on august 3rd and if all is well I’ll be taking the trigger shot that night.
is there anything I can do to boost my response to the medication?! And help those follicles grow as much as possible in the next few days?!!

((On my last cycle I only got 4 eggs and only 2 fertilised (from those 2 I got one morula which they implanted and it ended in an early chemical pregnancy))

MammyandAva · 30/07/2022 13:22

I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread! Any advice/guidance is greatly appreciated

I'm 30 and have a daughter (7) conceived naturally

I have been diagnosed with PCOS and have a high follicle count

The fertility clinic (CRGW) have recommended IUI or IVF Lite but I am unsure what to go with. The success rates with IUI worry me and although IVF has a greater expense, is it worth going for this first as last to save "wasting" money?

Any experiences/advice on the success rates for first time IVF with PCOS please?

Tinkerbell098 · 04/08/2022 10:13

@Girlanon how did the scan go? When is retrieval? Not long to go now :)

@MammyandAva as far as I know, PCOS does not prevent you from falling naturally. I have a friend who has PCOS, currently expecting her 2nd at 37, so don't lose hope. IUI doesn't have much success rate in my opinion, and think IVF is far superior, although I understand how draining it is mentally and physically. Sorry I have no experience with PCOS or IVF with PCOS, so my knowledge is limited.

MammyandAva · 04/08/2022 10:22

Hi Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately although I have conceived naturally previously I don't actually ovulate so the chances are very slim for it to happen again 😞

Tinkerbell098 · 04/08/2022 10:26

@MammyandAva did they not prescribe leterozole/ clomid to help you ovulate?

MammyandAva · 04/08/2022 17:45

@Tinkerbell098 I had that option, but as I am using a donor that's not going to work

Girlanon · 10/08/2022 09:51

Morning ladies,
god I am disappointed.
it’s been a rollercoaster.

i had my scan and they only saw 4 leading follicles. Which was a big disappointment. Last time I had 6 leading follicles which yielded 4 eggs.

We went ahead with collection and I was STAGGERED to hear they found 7 eggs!! 7!! 🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚

5 fertilised 🐣 🐣 🐣 🐣 🐣
and by day 3 they were all progressing perfectly, all had 8 cells and all were classed as very good or good.

today is the morning of transfer - I’ve just had a call from the lab, there’s one embryo that is still an early blastocyst to transfer, but the others have either stopped growing or significantly slowed down. They are going to culture them an extra day and see what happens…
but oh my Lord,
only one early blast? 😢😞

Tinkerbell098 · 10/08/2022 12:04

@Girlanon fingers crossed for tomorrow! A day can make a HUGE difference. Don't lose hope yet X

Hopeful199 · 11/08/2022 23:13

Hey @Girlanon

just checking in. How did it go for the extra day? How are you feeling now?

hope you’re ok….. everything is crossed for you 🤞🏻 x

Ellennn · 13/08/2022 14:28

Hope you don’t mind me jumping in on this thread! I’m hoping for a fresh transfer on Monday if all goes well 🙏 was a bit ropey during stims and egg collection but I’m hoping it will be worth it. Quite nervous to see how many fertilised eggs will make it to day 5, I really wish the clinic would let us know rather than having to just turn up to the transfer appointment 🫣 do most other clinics do this? I thought they would keep us updated along the way.

Hopeful199 · 13/08/2022 22:52

Hi @Ellennn 👋🏻

The waiting is the worst isn’t it!!! My clinic do the same. It’s so nerve racking! They gave an initial update once they knew it would be a 5dt rather than a 3rd but nothing after that. I did ask and they just said that so much can change in a short space of time that updating can cause more stress. Think they prefer to tell you something once it’s more confirmed / certain. Does nothing for nerves though and constant phone watching looking for calls! Argh!!

Good luck with the transfer xx

LetstalkaboutBruno · 13/08/2022 23:12

Hey all,

I am going to jump in here, although I may be crossposting between here and September. I was due to start next week, but my treatment is on hold due to the Buserelin shortage (I need it for trigger, I cannot use anything else due to my high AMH). I am now due to start Norethisterone on the 25th and have treatment early September.

I have PCOS, high AMH and don't ovulate. This will be my second attempt at IVF after recurrent losses from round one. I am having some changes to my protocol, so I am ridiculously hopeful going into round two.

Hopefully there won't be too many more delays going forward!

Ellennn · 14/08/2022 07:27

@LetstalkaboutBruno i was only told about the busrelin shortage when i had already started stims 😳 I’ve got a high AMH plus a low BMI so the consultant wanted me to avoid hcg triggers due to risk of overstimulation. Luckily my oestrogen levels just stayed within safe levels to take the ovitrelle 🤞

It must be very individual how you respond to the drugs! There was talk I would have to cancel this cycle but I managed to hold out and so happy I did!

LetstalkaboutBruno · 14/08/2022 10:15

@Ellennn well that’s a real pain, especially when the buserelin shortage has been around for a while now (6+ weeks).

Oh fab! Glad you have the option to use Ovitrelle. I purposefully delayed as if I’d have got to D1 and no buserelin it would have been an immediate cancel. With that in mind, the clinic and I thought it would be best to delay, so I made the decision to do that at the start of the week. So glad you’re able to continue with an alternative!

I also have high AMH! Not so much the low BMI, but my AMH is crazy crazy high. It’s not easy when you have these extra obstacles when the meds run dry 🙈

LetstalkaboutBruno · 14/08/2022 10:17

@Ellennn how many eggs did you get? Just saw your previous post. My clinic ring daily with an update. Which is great, but then I was fixated on waiting for that daily phone call 😫

Ellennn · 14/08/2022 11:59

@LetstalkaboutBruno yes was pretty close to cancelling the cycle actually which would have been gutting! Luckily it was fine. Have you overstimulated before? That was what I was worried about but turns out I just had quite a lot of side effects but just about bearable!

We got 12 mature and 9 fertilised but not heard update since day 1 so no idea how many will be left! I was actually thinking they would get more from egg collection as had 15-20 follicles on each ovary but I’m happy we should hopefully get some blastocysts with what we have! They said if I don’t hear on day 3 it means they will be able to do a day 5 transfer tomorrow 🤞

Thundercat61 · 14/08/2022 12:55

Hi

I’m due to do an ivf round in Sept. I wanted to ask about peoples experiences after duo stim (ivf cycle followed by a 5 day break and then a second ivf cycle). No one I know has done it so no one I can ask. We did it so we could send a batch of embryos for pgt-a and pgt-m testing. I finished duo stim on 23 June 2022. I got a period 2 weeks after that and nothing since. I’m due to do a further round in September to bank more embryos but it’s been 40 days since my last period.

1)Has anyone else experienced a long delay in getting a period after duo stim?

  1. How long did people wait after duo stim to do their next ivf cycle and how did it go?

Thanks in advance

LetstalkaboutBruno · 14/08/2022 21:49

@Ellennn I am so glad that you haven't it cancelled. I have had FETs cancelled, treatment delays several times and it is frustrating and emotionally quote difficult. I was the opposite, I was quite overstimulated but had zero symptoms. I had a LOT of follicles growing at my last scan prior to triggering. So they are trying a different stims medication to try and reduce that risk. My AMH alone makes them very twitchy, they are always referencing it aha!

You got a great number! I am sure that there are plenty going strong. No news is good news at this point. Wishing you all the best for transfer tomorrow!

Ellennn · 14/08/2022 22:00

@LetstalkaboutBruno fingers crossed the different protocol works well for you and no shortages happen when you are due to start!

thank you I’m hoping will be good news tomorrow 🙏

@Thundercat61 sorry I don’t know much about duo-stims! But I hope someone on here has some experience! Why does it the few times you want your period to arrive it decides to go AWOL, mine also does that but every other time it’s bang on time 🤣
