IVF August 2022

Might be a bit early for this thread, but is anyone else planning to start an IVF round in August?

I'm having tubes checked later this month, planning to try naturally for one month then back to the IVF again.

This will be my third round. I have a daughter from my first. The second, which was a FET, ended in a miscarriage. Sadly I have no embryos frozen so this will be a fresh cycle.

One difference I'm going to make is that I'm going to continue alcohol on the run up to it, last time I didn't and I found it really stressful trying to lie and hide it, but at the same time didn't want pressure of telling people I was about to go for treatment. I think being so strict was actually counter productive for me!

Hi all,

hope you don’t mind me joining 👋🏻

I recognise a few names on here….. Hoping you are all ok. Sorry you are still cycling but hopefully it is our time soon.

i have just turned 40 and so far had 3 failed transfers since Feb 22. Had an EndomeTrio this week to see if there is something else going on and hopefully will transfer my last embryo in Aug/Sept (depending on dates)

Justalittlebitblondie · 10/07/2022 19:49

Hello - can I join? I will be having a frozen transfer - this is my second - my first ended in an anembryonic pregnancy (blighted ovum) - got to eight weeks and there was a sac but no baby. All pretty devastating but now ready to try again - fingers crossed this time!

Longbin · 10/07/2022 20:07

@Justalittlebitblondie sorry for your loss. I had the same in March from a FET, but at 7 weeks.

I have my baseline scan tomorrow afternoon!

Hi everyone!

Hope you guys are all doing well! Since my last post I have had my nurse co-ordination appointment and consent signing appointments as well as screening bloods. I picked up my prescription of Provera which I will be starting next week on cycle day 14! All goes well I should be starting stims around 16th August.

Any updates from anyone else? :)

Longbin · 21/07/2022 08:37

@acaciabluebell I'm starting on my period at the very end of august now, but I've signed all the papers ready to go and the medication is arriving mid August. It's come around so quickly!

I have been put back to end of Sept, egg collection October due to back log and they are struggling to get Buserelin (for long protocol) !

Good luck everyone who is about to start ! Sending lot's of babydust!

Tinkerbell098 · 21/07/2022 10:43

Hi everyone, hope it's OK for me to join. This would be my first IVF round. I have had the appointment to sign all paperwork and have had the initial AFC and bloods done. I've got a needles lesson next week. I'm yet to find out when I'd actually start as they don't have any Buserelin so there maybe a delay.

IVFGotThis05 · 21/07/2022 12:52

@Tinkerbell098 ahhh no do they still not know if they can get any !? Did they give you an expected date initially ? or just not promised you a time ? Sounds like you will be ready to go as soon as they can get hold of some ! Fingers crossed for you ! :)

Saltisford · 21/07/2022 12:59

Hi all, I have a similar problem with buserelin - I have some but the expiry is July and I will need to continue it into August for a FET. Don’t know where that leaves me! I’ve already started injecting and am on day 5 of what I’ve got!

Tinkerbell098 · 21/07/2022 14:06

@IVFGotThis05 they're hopeful they can get some in August, but they haven't had a confirmation from their supplier yet. If I am to start, the start date would be 1st of August with the Burserlin. So, it's probably unlikely it would be that. They also suggested to be put on the short protocol if they have availability. It's all up in the air at the minute, so not great.

Tinkerbell098 · 21/07/2022 14:07

@Saltisford hope they can find you a new batch for next month. Good luck with the cycle X

Saltisford · 21/07/2022 16:03

So update is that the pharmacy can’t get any until mid August. They said they’ll refund what I’ve already bought. Not sure where that leaves me as I’m already injecting buserelin and is it too late to take prostap this cycle? Waiting to hear back from the clinic…

acaciabluebell · 21/07/2022 23:05

Can I ask what Buserelin is for? Is it a stims drug or is it specifically for the long protocol? My clinic have not mentioned it to me. I think I will be on Gonal-F or Menopur.

IVFGotThis05 · 22/07/2022 10:12

@acaciabluebell It's for the down regulation to turn everything off before egg stimulation ! You might be short protocol if it hasn't been mentioned to you. I'm unsure of what Gonal-F is but heard people mention it before. I also used menopur for stimulation. :)

Saltisford · 22/07/2022 17:41

Finally got some Prostap as an alternative so can continue my FET this cycle

Ivfhopeful22 · 23/07/2022 10:20

Hi everyone,
I commented on this thread a while back but thought I’d rejoin as things are getting nearer to August when we’re hoping to do my first FET.
What stage is everyone at now?

I’m waiting for period to show up in August and then I’ll start Oestrogen tablets which I’ve already been prescribed and I’ve been told to call the clinic to book in a scan for day 10. This will be my first FET so not 100% sure what to expect and feeling a bit nervous. Hope everyone else is getting on well. X

Longbin · 24/07/2022 11:27

Hopefully I won't be starting my IVF in august as I've just had a BFP from clomid. I was told by the doctors it wouldn't work (I bought it myself) so I am still waiting for it to sink in!

Wishing you all the best for your cycles ❤️

acaciabluebell · 24/07/2022 18:14

Congratulations @Longbin!! I did something similar and tried medicated cycles privately for 5 months before IVF but I didn't have any success, I'm so glad it worked for you ❤️

Hailey12 · 24/07/2022 20:57

Hi All, at the beginning of my journey after my first consultation! I’m 36 & in a same sex relationship. I have the option of iui or ivf we’re swaying more to ivf as the success rate is higher

After googling I’ve seen a few articles about the link with autism & ivf? Anyone ever heard of this

Tinkerbell098 · 25/07/2022 14:12

@Longbin massive congratulations!! You must be over the moon. If you don't mind sharing, what dosage did you take? I was given some last year but never took it as I was told I'm ovulating naturally, so they wouldn't do much and I struggle from a thin lining so was told it can further reduce the lining thickness, so I stayed away from these. I was considering taking these if all else fails, so it's nice to hear that it worked for you. Did you have any scans/blood tests whilst on these or not?

Tinkerbell098 · 25/07/2022 14:14

@Hailey12 hope the first appointment went well. sorry I haven't heard of any autism risks and we weren't told of any by the clinic either.

@Ivfhopeful22 good luck with the upcoming FET. Not long to go! I'm still waiting to hear about my start dates due to the Buserelin shortage. They weren't sure when they'll have stocks in.

Longbin · 25/07/2022 15:27

Thank you @acaciabluebell!

@Tinkerbell098 thanks! I was told the same, and that I ovulate naturally, but I didn't believe that I did as I never really had EWCM and my progesterone was always slightly raised, so never spiked.

I took 50mg. I have been TTC since 2017 and never had as much as a chemical, yet with IVF I had both embryos implant so I felt like it was an issue with ovulation more than anything. I've seen 3 people about it and none would agree though! I actually found the mental side effects of clomid much worse than IVF

OP posts:
Longbin · 25/07/2022 15:27

@Tinkerbell098 also I couldn't have scans because I wasn't prescribed it, but I had my baseline IVF scan on day 10 and asked them just to check for follicles, trying to be casual about it 😂

Tinkerbell098 · 25/07/2022 15:36

@Longbin oh I didn't realise you could get it without prescription. I track BBT and see a very noticeable shift in BBT following a positive OPK, so seems I do ovulate. I think in other countries they prescribe it for unexplained infertility even if you do ovulate, so it's strange they don't over her. It's great it worked for you and all the best with the pregnancy. Have you told your clinic yet?
